Every player gets steadily better when they're not playing, but we do miss him badly.

They are not 'savage cuts' they are only taking us back to the levels of a few years ago. They are cuts in increases.

You were doing ok until the last bit. The inefficiencies may be in the prices but payment of these is optional as opposed to the taxes and borrowings needed to fund the public sector.

Post-Match Reaction: Leicester City 2-0 SAINTS
Whitey Grandad replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Our season was over months ago and ended when Forster was carried off. Who would have thought that overwatering the pitch would have killed off our dreams? -
They are there to serve the public but they also work for the public and that responsibility extends to spending other workers' money with responsibility.

The overdraft hasn't been spent on these things. It has gone on supporting the State of Dependancy.

Good point. Interest repayments on our national debt this year will be £57bn which is half the NHS budget of £114bn. If the debt interest is reduced there would be more to spend on health.

The NHS is just over one year older than me and during its existence there have been governments of all shapes and colours. It will still be going after I've gone. Don't be such a melodramatic wussy.

Every politician spends other people's money.

The referendum was about independence. This vote was about who they wanted to represent them in Westminster.

What cuts to the NHS? -
I'm sure I wouldn't. As a man I spend most of my time playing pocket billiards sow why should I be different as a woman?

We could do without that. More years of uncertainty.

American English is a different and separate language and we are all the richer for it. I think we can all understand each other.

I can't disagree with any of this.

Time zones in The States can get very complicated, especially in Arizona. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_in_the_United_States Arizona and Hawaii use standard time throughout the year. However: The Navajo Nation observes DST throughout its entire territory, including the portion that lies in Arizona. But the Hopi Nation, which is entirely surrounded by the Navajo Nation and is entirely in Arizona, does not observe DST. (See map inset right.)

She's still young. She'll learn as she grows up.

Yes indeed, time to walk the walk (even though I hate clichés).

The NHS will be fine. At least now there's a chance of raising extra money for it.

I'm a wait and see sort of person. Well, ladies and gentlemen, it has been a great pleasure debating with you all over the last few interminable weeks and you have made the long wait all the more interesting. Whatever the result I'm sure we shall all be back soon enough putting the country to rights. A very good evening to you all And so to bed...

You can use whatever sounds the more natural. None may originally have been an abbreviation of no-one but it is a separate word in its own right.
-
Either is ok. With words such a 'Manchester United' or 'the government' then either the plural or the singular is used. Common usage is what counts here, I prefer using what sounds right. 'Manchester United is the biggest club in the world.' 'Manchester United are about to sign...' Etcetera.

Good point. Ed is the best weapon the Conservatives have.

No, they're not, but they have the best view of anybody, are a lot closer and have a stereoscopic view. There are a lot of other clues as to what goes on, things that the players have said, where their eyes are looking, that sort of thing. That link doesn't work on my iPad, I'll have a look tomorrow, thanks.
