  1. And many of these staff have children of their own, also at school.
  2. If you increase the cost of running a company then their prices go up and they lose business and they will have to reduce their staff unless they can increase their productivity. You can't just issues an order that everybody should get paid more or you'll just end up with inflation and nobody is any better off. The money just isn't there in the marketplace.
  3. There is only finite money to be made in the economy. If you raise the cost of labour then you will reduce the number of jobs.
  4. Or not getting drunk? After a staff lunch we once put a colleague on the train at Havant so that he could go home to Stoke for Christmas. Luckily he woke up just as the train pulled in to Waterloo. Unfortunately he was a few hours late, he had slept up to Waterloo, then down to Portsmouth, then back up to Waterloo again.
  5. Unless it is done through the official channels, of course.

  12. The railways are impossible to use at weekends because of the maintenance work.
  13. Those figures are rubbish. I've never believed anything derived from a study produced on a driving simulator. In what way is talking on a hands-free phone different from talking to your passenger? And what about the safety aspect of being able to call someone and leg them know you're going to be late? Personally I never make a call unless I'm parked or on a quiet stretch of motorway.
  14. There are medical conditions that can cause a small amount of alcohol to be in the blood and there's always the morning-after problem. There are practical reasons for allowing a small amount. Drugs, however, are a different matter.
  15. Or anyone wearing a hat in the car.

  19. I believe that other countries with a range of lower limits also have a sliding scale of punishments.
  20. I've just watched the MOTD highlights and what stands out to me is that if Pellè just lifts that chance over the keeper instead of lashing the ball over the bar then it would have changed the whole complexion of the evening. We're not off where we'd like to be.
  21. Well done. The last thing you want is problems with the winter coming up.
  22. That was the problem in the last 10 minutes. The ball kept coming straight back.
