  1. The Carnival is Over - The Seekers There are so many from the mid sixties but this one was always played at the dance place (they didn't call them discos then) where I met my missus in February 1966. This was always the last record of the evening before the lights came up and it was you last chance to have a close shuffle round the floor and find out whether you were in luck. We were both sixteen at the time bu this takes us right back. There are so many others I could have chosen from then. Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles Christmas 1967. Between leaving sixth form and going to university, loads of parties before all going our separate ways, rolling in the snow outside, I can't hear that song without the memories flooding back. Wichita Lineman - Glen Campbell My first term at university, September 1968. It was on the radio all the time. Isn't She Lovely - Stevie Wonder This came out when our daughter was born and summed everthing up perfectly.

  13. Are you sure it wasn't his wallet?
  14. By 'this thing' I presume you mean 'Portsmouth Football Club'?

  17. Not to us, but 'tis the nature of the beast.
  18. Booing is all part of the pantomime.
  19. Of course it was, but what was the point of the whole exercise? Taking British cars to Argentina always had the potential to be problematic. I would have thought that when you are visiting a distant country with whom we had been at war in recent times then you should act with respect for the local sensitivities at all times and not go looking for trouble. Why didn't they just hire an Argentinian car in the first place?
  20. I can't see how it matters who pays his compensation. The only difference could be a matter of possible income tax but surely any payment would eventually come from Tottenham.
  21. I suspect there were others apart from Koeman who had been earmarked. Just in case, like.
  22. When it comes to architecture suddenly everyone's an expert.
  23. I love them, ever since I got my first pocket transistor radio for Christmas 1963. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME:
