  1. “A couple of spare phones”. Eh? The difference is that the ticket is held somewhere in a virtual world which may be on your phone. Or not. Phones go wrong in so many ways. Apps go wrong. This alternative card is only at the discretion of the club. It is not a guaranteed right. ”most people” for you means people of a similar age and background. People who already spend a lot of money on their phones and data plans and for whom this is not even and incremental cost. Now step back for a moment and consider others. Pensioners perhaps, who don’t have or need a phone. Yes, there is supposed to be the option of a card but this should be offered at the point and time of sale.
  2. Now I know you’re not serious. Have you any idea how much power the internet and especially emails uses (wastes)? How the feck is it less admin? It will need a whole IT department to keep it running. When it comes to paying customers the solution is always about the “individual”.
  3. Looks like I chose the right time to spend a few days on the Costa Brava.
  4. That’s clearly not true. A season ticket can be a card in your wallet. You won’t lose that. Too many things have to go right for this system to go smoothly. And for why? It can only be to gain more control. There’s nothing that this system does that could not have been done with previous season tickets. Cup tickets could be ‘uploaded’ to the card although that’s as far from the truth as it could be. It relies on the customer having a modern smartphone and an accessible email account and a data service for when things go wrong. If a couple want to go to the match, and there are several that I know, then they each need all of these. A family of four needs four. I ask again, what’s in it for me?
  5. For a moment there I thought you said Bengali
  6. If it activates on Bluetooth it would have to be bloody close. Nearer than 30 feet normally unless it’s Bluetooth 5.0 but who’s got that?
  7. I remember Jackie Charlton saying that he wasn’t in love with football the same way that his brother Bobby was. He said that if Bobby was driving past a local match and a corner was about to be taken he had to stop and see the outcome. Jackie said that he would just drive straight past.
  8. Just a reminder that no furlough money went to the companies.
  9. Hardcopy of everything is a general rule. Especially when travelling.
  10. Very good. The Flockers.
  11. That’s smart work for a ten year old.
  12. When you enter, or in this case change your email address they send a code to that address to verify it. It makes you wonder what the point of all this is. One season ticket, one supporter, one number. That’s how it’s always been and there’s no need for it to change. As a customer you’ve bought the right to attend a certain number of games. This right has always been transferable even if not explicitly granted. Otherwise It’s a lot of money to ask for something that most people will have to forego at least once over the season.
  13. He's a gambler. Not really what you want in a Prime Minister.
  14. As Steve says, there must be an algorithm that changes the QR code over time.
  15. Not actually true. They fail when something unexpected occurs. “Oops, something’s gone wrong” Automated systems can’t handle the unexpected.
  16. Don’t you need a smartphone for that and how much are they and how much does a data connection cost? Asking for a few thousand friends.
  17. You don't actually email your ticket and code to the recipient. You nominate them through your app and they will receive through their installation of the app which will have their associated email address. They must however have the app installed on their device. If what they say is true, you must have this app running on your device when the QR code is scanned. They say that a screenshot won't work which means that somehow the scanner has to interact with the app and I'm not clear how they will do that.
  18. There are many sorts of live music. Many have never been to an opera or a concert at the Albert Hall. Electronics is unreliable. I speak as someone who has been in this business all my working life. Printing anything and putting it in an envelope is a lot cheaper that running an IT department. A season ticket only needs to be posted once and the battery never runs out.
  19. My son has just alerted me to Jordan Pickford's water bottle. It had all the Swiss players on it with their usual penalty preferences. Some papers are calling it a 'cheat sheet'. I'm not. https://www.goal.com/en/lists/akanji-dive-left-jordan-pickford-water-bottle-england-goalkeeper-penalty-heroics-euro-2024-semi-finals/blt107183bc0958aeee
  20. It relies on you having an internet connection at that time.
  21. I’ve never been to a ‘gig’ and I don’t suppose many of my neighbours in the Kingsland have either.
  22. But any charitable donation would be tax free so they should get the pre-tax amount.
  23. You are quite correct. However I suspect the club has a better idea of the answers to these questions than we do.
  24. And it's perfectly normal for them to fail.
  25. It’s all about him. Rather than give it away why not just decline to take it?
