No, he just did a live SNN interview and his Bashley days were mentioned.
-
Are you Marc Jackson? Sorry, couldn't resist!
-
Why do you think that? Apart from one season at Coventry, his record is up there with any of the managers likely to be available. I think Keane will replace him at Celtic BTW.
-
I hope he gets his chance. Dean Windass hardly got a look in this season (although he is about 103 years old).
-
The Mirror (apparently) have him linked to the Sunderland job.
-
A lot ahead of him at that time. Remember, he had to drop down to Southern League level with Bashley before being given a chance at Bournemouth. Good player though and maybe we should have signed him at the time Burnley did but under our management over the last few seasons, he probably wouldn't have become the player he seems to have under Owen Coyle.
-
Yep. Lucky not to get booked just a minute ago.
-
The question is, how do ex players or anyone else, get to be an experienced manager? They start in the lower leagues and work their way up. I think it has escaped some that we are now in the lower leagues ourselves.
-
I'm actually quite impressed with the attitude of the players, especially the ones out of contract, how few are actively seeking to get away after relegation. Obviously the foreign players don't want to play League 1 and wouldn't entertain playing for League 1 wages. It seems that only Dyer, of the homegrown and British contingent is actively seeking a move and he wasn't at the club for the vast majority of last season any way!

Marc Jackson consortium has moved to due diligence.

I think the Salz people have a certain amount of money that they are prepared to sink into the club (at least for the first season) and Fry and BT are looking for an amount that would pretty much wipe that money out, not leaving any to put into club/team rebuilding. Like a property developer at an auction, they will know what they can bid, within their budget, to allow for the rebuilding etc to give the club a chance to level out and start moving in an upward direction. If others are prepared to pay more, then they will leave them to it but if the other bids go tits up, then they are there to pick up the pieces. That's how I see it FWIW and seems reasonable to me. -
No I didn't mean to criticise, as I said in the first sentence, they did a great job. But the message may not have got out to enough of the general public. I took my daughter along and she knew nothing about it until I rang her to ask if she fancied going (and she's at Southampton Uni) Not everybody lives in cyberspace.

I'm pretty sure he has.

I would think that Branfoot's tactics were well suited to League 1.

The event was excellent and Si, Lee, Nick and the guys did a great job organising it. I too, was surprised and disappointed that there weren't more people in attendance. I wondered up for a couple of hours in the afternoon and again from about 7.30 to the end. As I walked away from SMS at about 4.30 I heard 2 women with toddlers/prams in toe talking about the event. Discussing that it wasn't very busy, one said to the other that they had only found out about it in the morning and didn't think it had been very well advertised. May be if there is a criticism, then that would be it. I know it was well covered on here and on both the web-site and facebook page but not much in the local press/tv (or even the os) until a day or so before the event.

Gutted!! That's my short hop over the Humber Bridge gone for a burton.
-
I reckon League gate revenues should be between £4.5 and £5million based on a season average of 15,000 paying an average of £14 per ticket.
-
Seems we have enough spare cash lying around to pay for Wotte to do a European tour.
-
Mmmm! The cynic in me thinks this was invented and leaked by BT to try and get the other two parties to up their offers and get their @rses in to gear.

Lol, I could have sworn that Judith Charmers was posting on this thread at one point.

At the moment it is Even Stephen mid 160's "YES", mid 160's "NO". If we had been given that option it would be approx 330 "I have no fecking clue" with YES and NO drawing nil-nil,

Who do you want first game of the season?
krissyboy31 replied to StuRomseySaint's topic in The Saints
That'll rob me of my local away game yet again. First Hull City, then Donny Rovers. If Scunny goes, it's bloody Leeds and Huddersfield at they're 60/70 miles away (not exactly local). -

Scunny away for me. Just hoping they don't win the playoff final at the weekend. -
Not sure Salz was ever part of the Fulthorpe/Cousins/Merrington group (financially at least). He was assisting Crouch with his dealings with the bank before Lowe/Wilde returned. They may well have had him lined up as CEO if they had ever managed to mount a take-over but then again, they were supposed to have lined up Shearer as manager.
