I voted yes because the alternative doesn't bare thinking about.

It is contaminated land. Saint77 is not correct when he says it can't ever be used but it would take a lengthy and very costly procedure to get it into a decent state for development, much more costly than the land could realise in the current climate (and probably several years to come).

"Hands up if you think I look like Ted Bates!!"

Nope. £14million for the lot.

I suspect that at least one and probably most of serious parties would have been prepared to pay that if we had avoided relegation and the 10 point penalty. Fry would have known that these parties would have had a different valuation under the relegation scenario. What he and the negotiating parties may not have factored in is the 10 point deduction because they were led to believe we had no case to answer. This may be where the shortfall between original bid and money on the table, comes in?

Which is why I find it strange it's all gone quiet on the story that the council were interested in buying it. As a club, surely this has got to be the best option, short of owning it ourselves.

Not when they reached 65p, he wasn't. He had an over inflated view on how much the shares were actually worth (probably based on the Premiership years) and would not sell at anything below that.
-
But not having to pay Aviva, would have meant the overdraft, wage bill etc easier to manage. At the end of the day, a buyer pre-administration, would have had to buy all the shares (even at 10p, I suspect that is more than the actual club/player registration part of the current deal) and taken on the complete debt of the club. We would have been in exactly the same position as before, losing money hand over fist. This way, there is no shares to pay for and a debt free club that owns the stadium 100% for probably not a great deal more in initial outlay.

True, but this could well backfire on him. Pinnacle will have an amount in mind, MJ's consortium have made an increased offer. However if Fry waits for a bid that may not materialise, he could well have to go back cap-in-hand to either of the original two, who may then only be prepared to pay a fraction of what they currently have on the table or worse, may have lost interest altogether.

I was wondering if it had anything to do with the stage payments owed to Notts County. These became public around the same time and were a surprise to most of us on here. May be they were somewhat of a surprise to Barclays as well?
-
The £4m and £25m are irrelevant. The £14m is basically an approx 45p in the £1 amount negotiated between the creditors/administrators and administrators/potential investors, which will give the owners a basically debt free company.

Are we back on the subject of MB's avatar??

I think Play up is actually ITK. Better get LifeLongSkate on the case!!

Yes, we've already got enough strikers who can't score penalties.

My understanding is that the FA/PFA will guarantee the wages of a club in administration and unable to pay. The club are not in administration and operating as normal (or as normal as the current situation allows). According to Derry, the club can't go into administration because it has no assets and therefore, if the club doesn't meet it's financial obligations, it will be wound up. This being the case, LC's money is saving the club from ceasing to exist.

I think we used to say "if in doubt, kick the opponent out" but that was a different era.

I agree and Stoke have proved that that style is not necessarily exclusive to the lower divisions, comfortably escaping relegation from the Prem with the same principles.
-
Fair play to Wotte, who is doing a professional job in almost impossible circumstances. I think I would still like a completely new break with a new manager installed but at least Wotte is talking the talk and looks like he is doing his homework and learning from last season's mistakes. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11768

This is probably true but the new owner will have a debt free club and all of the income over that period, will go into running the football club, rather than servicing ever expanding overdraft and stadium loan.

Is it Jeff Stelling?
