  1. Tadic off the post!
  2. Amazing, awesome, wonderful - and any other superlative you want to add to that. Feels so good to beat Arsenal for once. They are one of those teams that we just never seem to beat, no mater how well we play or how poor they are at the time. Cracking end-to-end game. This team is definitely more exciting to watch than last season. Long may it continue.
  3. Pelle should have scored. Free header.
  4. Exquisite counter attack from Saints there. Dare I say it - this is a more exciting team to watch than last season.
  5. Never, ever a foul on Wilshere there. Terrible refereeing.
  6. What a game this is!!!!
  7. How do I make that bigger?
  8. As some have already mentioned - he looked a bit of a tool with his OTT celebration when he thought he had scored last season (can't remember which game it was) only to realise it had been disallowed and he was still celebrating when play resumed.
  9. Just need a Citeh win now - to give us a (slim, admittedly) chance of going top next weekend - and it will be the perfect weekend.
  10. Cork wasn't really in the game today and was rightly substituted.
  11. Very happy with the three points. The sending off drastically changed the game in our favour. Swansea can't complain because both yellow cards were warranted, although we were perhaps a little fortunate that Fonte stayed on the pitch given his wild swing after he had already been cautioned. Second half we took full advantage and really dominated the game. Swansea defended resolutely and for a while I didn't think we would get the breakthrough. I thought it was a very professional performance in the end, considering we were being swamped a little in the first half. Great to see Vic get a goal. On current form I think he should be in the starting eleven. 2nd in the table - I've got a nosebleed!
  12. Getting closer.
  13. Why? Monk has to decide how to reorganise his team now they are a man down. Whatever he decides, we need to change our tactics accordingly.
  14. Will be interesting to see what tactical changes Monk will make at HT now, and how we react to that.
  15. What was Yoshi's booking for? Dissent?
  16. That was the easiest hat-trick Costa will ever score - the Swansea defence left him completely un-marked for each of his goals. If they give Pelle even half the time and space they left for Costa, we should score at least a couple ourselves.
  17. Just watched MOTD... Newcastle were utterly woeful. Shocking play from their defenders for all of the goals. Collocini could and should have stopped the second goal if he wasn't too busy looking at the linesman trying to claim an imaginary offside. Krul can consider himself lucky not to have been sent off for clotheslining Shane Long. yet another blatantly obvious penalty decision not given. Lost count of how many we had last season and our bad luck with that seems to be continuing into this one. Won at a canter and should have had more, but like a few others have said: it's difficult to get too carried away when the opposition were so poor they may as well have just walked the ball into the net for us. Next week's game will be a much tougher test for the team.
  18. Only watched the first half as the stream I was watching kept stuttering and it was annoying me so much I turned it off. Everyone having a go at Pelle needs to realise that he was completely marked out of the game and never stood a chance. They were doubling up on him all afternoon. Of course, this should have made space for our other players to run into, but for whatever reason we couldn't capitalise. Don't blame it on Pelle though.
  19. AFAIK, as long as the manhole covers are accessible and haven't been built on top of then there is no issue. We had exactly the same report back on the survey of the place we are currently buying and the solicitor wasn't the slightest bit concerned about it - he said it was quite normal. By all means check with your solicitor but there should be no problem.
  20. The article is absolutely spot on in the sense that the new FFP rules, instead of widening the competition, will only serve to strengthen the stranglehold of the elite clubs. Yes it's frustrating to see all our prize assets being lured away from the club, but in the modern world of football finance, the moment a richer club declares an interest in a player and offers him a huge pay rise and the prospect of CL football, a move becomes inevitable. Long-term contracts mean absolutely nothing any more as the buying clubs hold all the cards. The only thing the smaller club can hope to achieve, as we have, is to hold out for the biggest possible transfer fee. We are the victims of our own success. We can try our best to sign exciting prospects and bring through youngsters from the academy, but as soon as we display any sign of success and CL teams come sniffing around our players, we are powerless to keep them. The only way any club can ever hope to break the stranglehold of the elite clubs, as we have seen in recent years with Chelsea and, more recently, Man City, is if a multi-billionaire owner comes in with no hope of ever making a return on their investment. But the new FPP rules mean that can't happen any more anyway. Football in this country is completely f***ed. But the people running it really don't care about dismantling the status quo because it makes them very rich, so why should they?
  21. Walking out of Hillsborough at 3-0 and hearing the roar of the crowd for their 4th and 5th goals as I waited for the tram home, then getting the inevitable bombardment of gloating texts from all my Wednesday supporting mates. I've seen us lose heavily plenty of times in the past, but watching a completely average team carve us open time and again the way Wednesday did that day was probably my lowest point as a Saints fan.
  22. Are you suggesting that in recognising that Cortese was spunking her money on a fool's errand and taking action to protect her investment she 'bottled it'? Do you actually have any understanding of how business works?
  23. I think I'm in love with Anna Calvi!
