Having a really satisfying dump followed by a clean detach that only needs minimal wiping.

Well I quite enjoyed that game. Obviously they don't have the pace and power that the men have, but both teams showed good organisation and tactical awareness. Thought they both looked very tired towards the end though. Someone suggested they should play on smaller pitches, but given the obvious problems with that maybe a better idea would be to play for less time - perhaps 35 minutes per half. One aspect of the women's game that I really respect is the lack of play-acting and theatrics. Never seen a woman player rolling around like she's been shot after the slightest bit of contact. The men could learn a lot from that.

Yep, agreed. He passionately believed he could change education for the better, and ended up becoming the most despised education secretary in history because his ideas were archaic. At Defra, he has proven to be effective because he appears to be just as passionate about the environment. And he also seems to be willing to listen to expert advice, and get involved where he sees necessary. For example, his intervention into the scandalous removal of Sheffield's street trees by a profit-making organisation sub-contracted by the council proved to be decisive in the local effort to stop it. And following his interest in that issue, he has now announced a massive urban tree-planting program across the country.

As an employee of an organisation under the Defra umbrella, I can confirm that most people here are in agreement that he has been surprisingly effective and even inspiring. But then, given who he replaced, it wasn't hard to look good in comparison. I can't believe I'm actually finding myself wanting him to get the job now, as he would appear to be the least worst option. And even more unbelievably, I find myself preferring that he stay on at Defra because the list of potential replacements is horrifying.

Why do humans have an appendix? Why do men have nipples? There are many aspects of our physiology that are evolutionarily redundant. No, as it would not happen overnight. If it happens it will do so gradually over a period of time, and the laws of supply and demand will apply. As demand drops, farmers will react and slow down their breeding programs to match. I'm not vegan myself, but when I visited a friend in Amsterdam recently we went to this place for dinner cos his girlfriend is... https://www.veganjunkfoodbar.com/node/72 If I could get vegan food this tasty everywhere then I wouldn't have any difficulty giving up meat and dairy.

I suspect he would turn his nose up at that suggestion

Only by virtue of being a massive upgrade on Forster when it finally became obvious what a huge liability he had become. Doesn't make him a great keeper. There were a few goals we conceded last season where his keeping was very suspect. Gunn isn't the finished article yet, but he looks to have more potential to improve IMO. If Macca has some decent resale value then I have no problem with us cashing in on him.

She'll get no sympathy from me. Where were her tears for the victims of Grenfell Tower? For the Windrush Generation? For the thousands of people who have died as a direct result of her party's austerity measures? For the millions of kids plunged into poverty? For the huge jump in the number of homeless people? No, the only tears she can manage are those of self-pity because she has to leave number 10. A truly f*cking despicable woman who will go down in history as the second worst PM this country has ever had, behind whichever of the deranged extremists they choose to replace her.

Leaving on the 7th June then. That's just what the country needs right now isn't it - another Tory leadership contest

People who say "In any way, shape or form" because they think it makes them sound clever. It doesn't.

There is zero chance that we will sell 12 players in a single window. Especially considering some of them are on fat contracts and are not worth what we paid for them, so will be even harder to shift.
-
I don't really get the penalty one, as I always assumed that rule was already in place. Are they saying that they will be having penalties retaken if a keeper moves off his line, whether he saves it or not? That seems pretty absurd to me. If it's saved then obviously he has gained an advantage, but if it goes in then it really doesn't matter.

Aw, bless. From 11 points clear to blowing it in the playoffs. Superb end to the season.
-
Have you had a bet with someone that you can somehow squeeze this tedious top ten thing into every single f*cking thing you post?
-
Right, yeah. Just seen it on the Player awards thread. Been away for a couple of days and obviously missed it. Delete please mods!
-
Really? I must have missed that. When was it announced? What if someone scores from the halfway line on Sunday then?

I know it's a tad premature, as we've still got to play the worst team that the PL has seen in many years yet, but which ones do people reckon are in the running? Off the top of my head I can think of two decent contenders: PEH's at home to Brighton... and Valery's screamer at OT... Anyone got any other nominations?

It was such an obvious dive. Look at the way he lifts both feet off the ground the moment he felt the contact.
-
In the first third of the season he looked sharp and I thought maybe he might be the signing we wanted him to be. Since his return from injury he hasn't been quite the same but still contributes far more than Austin is capable of. I wonder how much of his drop in performance is down to the impact of Hughes' incredibly slack training regime. Wasn't he unofficially quoted as saying it was like a holiday camp compared to Liverpool?

Forster, Stephens, Elyounoussi. Who's the 4th? Armstrong?
-
Ever since Stephens came back into the starting lineup. Coincidence?
-
On the beach? Drowning in the sea more like.

And the BBC team are never wrong are they. He did the one thing that a PL keeper should never, ever do. He parried it straight into the path of danger. It was poor goalkeeping.

Romeu gets his obligatory yellow card. Standard.
