  1. I don't think that it has too much to do with intellect to be honest. As you have rightly said there is probably not a lot of difference between the two sets of fans. You would probably find that there is not a lot of difference between the fans of the 96 clubs in the league if truth be known. We are no worse or better than one another - but individually we want different outcomes and there are those that are errr fanatical to say the least. Me personally - as I have stated many times here, I want you to survive. Whilst we can have some fun gloating at your current predicament, the bigger picture is bleak for smaller clubs, you are just the tip of the iceburg. Football is being driven to the wall - look at the Premier League and find a club that isn't in debt to some level. Some teams are in there for 100s of millions - it is not sustainable, as you have found out to your cost. If you go under and cease to exist than the Premier League has a lot to answer for. They should be monitoring clubs to ensure that they are operating within their limits. If they had done so in your case then they would not only have protected you - but they would have gone some way to protecting those clubs the you owe money to such as Watford. Don't get me wrong - I am not saying that Pompey are not responsible for the mess that they currently find themselves in - they are, but others should have taken action sooner. I think that the FA have a duty of care to thier members to advise them when they see spending at levels that are not appropriate to club size. You now have one almighty problem though - as many have recognised here, attracting an investor to the club with your current infrastructure is likely to be very very difficult. The level of investment needed to 'repair' Pompey is massive and the only real tangible asset is your current League status - if that goes, your chances of substantial investment nose dives. You only have to look at recent cases such as Darlington - recently invested in, brand new stadium, probably out of the league at the end of the season. There is still an outside chance that you could stay up this season, (I thought you would earlier in the season - but my optimism is waning a little now) but personally I think that would be a disaster for you. I think your best option is to try to stave off the administrators, offload as many as you can in the Jan window thus reducing the wage bill still further, effectively accept relegation this season. Take the parachute payments and give yourself a chance of sustaining yourself in the CCC as opposed to crashing through the leagues as we have done. Your situation has kept us amused now for many months, none of us could have written it better had we tried - but it's now becoming more of an embarassment as the days go by. Personally I hope that the 'end is nigh' for you very very soon - but I don't want that end to be terminal. Good luck and see you two leagues below us very soon..!
  2. Whichever way you look at it, it does nothing to promote those that run the Premier League. They now have a member that is fast becoming a universal embarassment in the sporting arena yet whose (real) owners are happy to remain anonymous. They lurch from crisis to crisis, have winding up orders served by the nations tax collectors and fail to pay their staff. What does the governing body (FAPL) do - nothing. The only action that I have seen published from the PL is that they are 'following procedings closely' - WTF, they don't even know who owns the club. If this is indicative of how to run a professional sporting body then any set of clowns could do it. Perhaps I answered my own question there.
  3. No problem - thats only a quarter of a mil per month, chickenfeed given the huge number of fans that they can attract. Damn good business, damn good.... ummmm second thoughts maybe not eh....! You do actually wonder, who the f u c k makes such cluster**** decissions dontcha...!
  4. Gotta feel for the guy really - he has a right bag of bollux to sort out. That said - I can't for the life of me see why he took the job in the first place, surely he could see that it was a 'uckin' mess of a club. Perhaps when he was asked to go back to the Blue side he thought he was on his way back to Chelski...!
  5. Only one club were stupid enough to convince the City Council that he deserved the Freedom of the City bestowed upon him though. Wonder if he ever uses the award to visit and see the 'fruits of his labour' down at FP these days?

I don't wish Delldays dead or any misfortune whatsoever - I just wish he would do longer & more frequent tours of duty...!

My two penneth. Was devestated to hear that the guy was executed - guilty or innocent. The crime did not warrant such radical punishment. There appears to me to be numerous issues that have gone against Akmal during this case. I agree with Barney Trouble, irrespective of his adult status - if his illness was 'that' severe, surely somebody in his family should have been watching out for him. It appears a little premature to cite these issues in defence when little was done to negate the gentleman from getting into difficult situations. A failing of the health authorities in this country, a failing of Akmals family and friends I don't know - but for my money somebody should have been watching his back. The Chinese justice system is well known for it's severity of sentence - it is not a country to start your criminal career. I believe that Akmal was indeed doped into the crime, and that he had little idea of the ramifications. Will any good come of this. For Akmals family probably no, but if it deters other 'would be' 'smugglers' from case carrying for a quick buck (which could lead to the death penalty) then perhaps all has not been in vain, and some positives might transpire from this barbaric act.
  8. Did ok, nothing spectacular, helped Wolves to a 3 nil loss at home.
  9. Go on - enlighten me...?

Well somebody is telling porkies: There is no way it could be AG if this is factual: quote A football insider said: "This is a man who oversees a football club which has been involved in multi-million pound transfers and pays players tens of thousands of pounds every week. Unquote Since when did the skates get involved in multi-million pound transfers and when was the last time they paid thier players...??? I rest my case - AG must be innocent...!
  17. I actually have a bit of a soft spot for the 'ammers - so I will be rooting for them to stay up. Pompey on the other hand - hopefully the south coast derby returns next year...!
  18. I actually love the fact that we are rarely in the news these days.... but when we are, it all appears positive stuff, buying good players, planning new training facilities, a manager with vision and plans for the future with the Owner backing him - life couldn't be better right now.
  19. Apparently so... not sure when or where though - or how many are going... I'll keep you posted if I find anything out.
  20. What here on this thread or at the game...???
  21. Geeze - must have missed those, I'll check again...!

  25. Would have been my Xmas bonus if we had got anything from this game. Sounds like we were in the game and only lost to a decent goal as well - no disgrace. How we react will be important now - need to get back to winning ways.
