How funny is this... people actually believe that he resigned, really, of his own free will. Talk about gullible in the extreme. If his record is 4 points from 9 in his first 3 games at the club - thats not half bad either. Check out a certain Mr Strachans record - nobody appears to be calling for his head yet. The manager is the fall guy in this game, always has been and probably always will be - but sometimes, when you get rid of the people at the top things change for the better - let's face it, we know that for a fact. Sometimes you reap what you sow - perhaps those at LR should beware.

I think you might have missed a subtle point that influenced.com was making there actually...!

No slagging from me - I've got one too, does everything that I need it too (and more), easy to configure, battery life is good, sits happily on my home wireless network with 'Fring' (Skype) - works well. If any slight grumble - it's a slightly 'fat' phone, other than that its great.

I was going to say 'you couldn't make it up', but quite patently, he does...!!!

Don't know what his record was there, but FFS, what the hell is going on in English football. What was he meant to achieve in a month? If I remember rightly WGS took some time to get things going here, and look where that led. I hope he finds another club somewhere, is successful and able to stick two fingers up at QPR.

May have some legs. Other posters who appear to know the lady in question are saying that she has posted before and her sources and information has been good - wouldn't right this one off out of hand.

Ahhhh nice, three pages of speculation on, well, errr, not sure, but as far as I can tell, he's a footballer (although personally I think the Yeti might still come through). Another day at TSF....!!!

Why Markus Liebherr should buy Portsmouth Football Club
Micky replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
Yep - let's go with it then. So we merge with PFC. Lets go back to Everton and Liverpool. Then the two Manchester Clubs, just to keep things interesting. Tell you what - lets go the whole hog down in London with Spud, Chelski and Arsenal forming Chelarse Hotspurs - a real powerhouse of the EPL. Meanwhile those well know midland mates of Birmaston Villa are creeping up the league and looking for a European cup place. It's interesting in as much as you can make silly names from many teams - but lets leave it there...!!! -

I can't believe that you posted that, because evidently nobody did take it seriously. -

Never have I read such a load of drivel in all my life. I feel cheated of the 2 minutes it took me to read the OP and subsequent comments - you owe me two minutes of life, I want it back. Oh BTW I've also heard that Liverpool and Everton will merge next year - honest. -
Damn, I've just been on that page and got this gem: Bad news for all United fans, Rooney is on his way out in the summer. If you havent noticed SAF is already looking for a player to replace Rooney, who plays the same sort of striking role, and that player is Hulk. SAF has been offered 60M plus benzema by Real Madrid. Expect to see SAF take this offer and use the 60M to sign a top class midfielder (Silva). So next years striking partnership will be Hulk and Benzema. You heard it here first, Pagey You've got to love it really though, ain't ya...!

I think the guy at Bournemouth did the same as LifeLongSaint was getting his 15 mins of fame - it's not a new one. Some would say 'better the devil you know', but in this particular case I dont think so...!

Ummm loony enough to think that Leeds would have any chance at OT as well. Now lets think - who's the loon...???

Extract from ITV Website : TV Guide Today on ITV1 from 4:00pm to 6:30pm FA Cup Live: West Ham v ArsenalITV1West Ham will relish the chance to take on Arsenal in this all-London, all-Premier League FA Cup third round clash. The clubs have already met once this season, with the Hammers fighting back from two goals down to rescue a point in a dramatic match at Upton Park. And with no silverware in recent years, Arsene Wenger's Gunners will be looking to take a firm step towards Wembley in May. Presented by Matt Smith, with commentary from Peter Drury. Following the match, there is live coverage of the draw for the fourth round. HTH.

Exactly. Tis all very well laughing our coks off at the Blue Few down the road - but look more closely at football in general. Pompey, West Ham, Hull, Watford, Cardiff plus others that I have probably missed - all in the shyte, to put it bluntly. Funny though it may be - you have to ask yourself, where will it all end - once Pompey have been erased from the footballing calender, who shall we bay for next, Bournemouth, then who, B&HA perhaps. More to the point - when will our time come, when do we cease to exist - will we all have a jolly good chuckle about that, what the hell, it was good while it lasted..! Dave Whelan was right when, a couple of years ago, he prophocised that an English Premier League club could cease to exist because of the dynamics of the PL - shouldn't be too long before he can say 'I told you so'. Phil is right - the bodies that oversee English football need to take a long hard look at the way in which it continues to run, largely on 'substainable debt' (never never) and now by 'faceless' owners. The problem as I see it is that the suits at the FAPL do 'very very well thank you' from the finances generated from the product - and so are not keen to rock the boat. Perhaps they are willing to let all small clubs go to the wall so long as the big four prop up thier investment. A bit like the superstores putting the 'family run' and 'market stalls' out of business - sad sad state of football today.

Stoke at home - winnable game with some old boys coming back too...!

I think they should be allowed to march through the streets. I think that the residents of WB should close up for the day and desert the streets. I think the media should totally ignore the protest and write / broadcast nothing.

Perhaps I should have just rested my case and let PES tell it how it is. But you obviously misread or misunderstood my original post. The point that I made was that the fans wouldn't particularly care about how success was achieved - they wouldn't have had thier eye on the Boardroom - they were enjoying Premiership football and winning the FA Cup. Thus - I think that we actually agree with each other..? If you're saying that we (or any other fans for that matter) would have been different in the same circumstances then I would totally disagree. Fans come to see success on the pitch and if that is delivered then they probably don't give two thoughts to what is happening in the Boardroom. Perhaps I am just a bad fan though or I have moral issues that I should address.

Worst commentator / summariser ever - Stuart Hall - talks total tosh should have stuck to IAKO. Worst radio presenter - Adrian Durham - tries desperately to be interesting, topical, funny, contraversial yet fails (daily) on all counts and just comes across as a total dickhead.

You make a good point, but the fans can in some ways be excused for not caring or questioning where the funds were coming from. They (rightly or wrongly) expect those charged with running the club to do so prudently, and with good business principles and accumen. The FAPL should be the ones open to question about this whole sorry affair as they are the ones who should have been taking a 'business' eye view on procedings at Pompey and not a 'fans' eye view. They appear now to be taking 'an interest' once the iceburg has been hit - and we all know the outcome of that, don't we?
-
I don't think that it has too much to do with intellect to be honest. As you have rightly said there is probably not a lot of difference between the two sets of fans. You would probably find that there is not a lot of difference between the fans of the 96 clubs in the league if truth be known. We are no worse or better than one another - but individually we want different outcomes and there are those that are errr fanatical to say the least. Me personally - as I have stated many times here, I want you to survive. Whilst we can have some fun gloating at your current predicament, the bigger picture is bleak for smaller clubs, you are just the tip of the iceburg. Football is being driven to the wall - look at the Premier League and find a club that isn't in debt to some level. Some teams are in there for 100s of millions - it is not sustainable, as you have found out to your cost. If you go under and cease to exist than the Premier League has a lot to answer for. They should be monitoring clubs to ensure that they are operating within their limits. If they had done so in your case then they would not only have protected you - but they would have gone some way to protecting those clubs the you owe money to such as Watford. Don't get me wrong - I am not saying that Pompey are not responsible for the mess that they currently find themselves in - they are, but others should have taken action sooner. I think that the FA have a duty of care to thier members to advise them when they see spending at levels that are not appropriate to club size. You now have one almighty problem though - as many have recognised here, attracting an investor to the club with your current infrastructure is likely to be very very difficult. The level of investment needed to 'repair' Pompey is massive and the only real tangible asset is your current League status - if that goes, your chances of substantial investment nose dives. You only have to look at recent cases such as Darlington - recently invested in, brand new stadium, probably out of the league at the end of the season. There is still an outside chance that you could stay up this season, (I thought you would earlier in the season - but my optimism is waning a little now) but personally I think that would be a disaster for you. I think your best option is to try to stave off the administrators, offload as many as you can in the Jan window thus reducing the wage bill still further, effectively accept relegation this season. Take the parachute payments and give yourself a chance of sustaining yourself in the CCC as opposed to crashing through the leagues as we have done. Your situation has kept us amused now for many months, none of us could have written it better had we tried - but it's now becoming more of an embarassment as the days go by. Personally I hope that the 'end is nigh' for you very very soon - but I don't want that end to be terminal. Good luck and see you two leagues below us very soon..!
-
Whichever way you look at it, it does nothing to promote those that run the Premier League. They now have a member that is fast becoming a universal embarassment in the sporting arena yet whose (real) owners are happy to remain anonymous. They lurch from crisis to crisis, have winding up orders served by the nations tax collectors and fail to pay their staff. What does the governing body (FAPL) do - nothing. The only action that I have seen published from the PL is that they are 'following procedings closely' - WTF, they don't even know who owns the club. If this is indicative of how to run a professional sporting body then any set of clowns could do it. Perhaps I answered my own question there.
