  1. Two games ago..!
  2. Reading between the lines - that is how I saw it too. I bet they wished that they had kept this one under wraps until the deal was done now that he has walked away, how much more bad news can flow out of Pompey. Not too many Premiership jobs come up over the course of the season - still lots of available candidates - very interesting that he decided to walk.
  3. Tend to agree with this - I think there are yet more twist's and turn's to negotiate before this whole sorry mess is sorted out. As I type, SSN is reporting that the good Dr will inject 50 million in 3 - 4 weeks time. Surely if you are going to invest that amount of money you know when it will be available! Personally I think that the sooner the good Dr is consigned to the scrap heap the better, but I still think that there is something 'not quite right' here. Why on earth would somebody with no funds buy a trainset that needs constant stoking with millions of pounds - it just doesn't add up. Let's just hope, for the Blue Few's sake that either the good Dr has a major 'Master Plan' (Blueprint for Success, anybody...?) or that PS's consortium remains in the background and interested should (when) it all goes t i t s u p...!
  4. Thanks for the warning BO, I was just about to buy those too...!
  5. Got to thank those that were at the game for the updates and opinions, great support. As for the driving debate - I'm staggered really. From the very first thread I had raised eyebrows - how easy is it to drive at an average speed of 85 mph over 4 hours - try it some time and see. As for those that regularly drive in excess of 100 mph on motorways - do so at your own peril. A wise man once said - you won't be killed by how fast you are going, it is how fast you stop that will knacker you. A bit like falling off of a cliff really - nobody actually died - until they stopped. I drive every month in Germany, and indeed many of their roads are unregulated - but thier driving habits are a lot different to ours, personally I think they are better drivers. They have much better lane discipline and thier rules of the road rarely mean that drivers are confused about who has right of way. I rarely see the 'road rage' sort of symptoms that you get almost on a 'day to day' basis in UK. However, I have also seen a guy go from 100ish mph to 0 in one second flat as he hit a stationary contractors vehicle that was advising that the fast lane was closed! Obviously I don't know whether he survived - but I'm guessing not. Personally, despite the stats posted here, I feel much safer driving on the continent and find that generally the boy racer element just does not exist.
  6. Tend to agree with this. Yes they have made an appauling start - but win 2 games on the bounce and things look slightly different. There are some very 'average' teams in the top flight this year and so the points total for saftey could be considerable lower than normal. Hull look to be struggling and are in free fall, other teams could also get sucked in, Portsmouth may yet have the last laugh.
  7. Paul Merson seems to think that they are relegated already: "Lose this and it's seven games without a win - and they've still got to play Manchester United twice, Chelsea twice and Liverpool twice. If they're lucky they'll get two points from those six games. That means they'll need something like 1.5 points per game from the other 25 games to stay up - and that's European form. Honestly, they are in severe trouble if they lose this one." Taken from this article: http://www.skysports.com/opinion/story/0,25212,15205_5580473,00.html
  8. Whilst pretty amusing, it's actually a very sad state of affairs that he cannot be held to contract - unfortunately that is the nature of football I guess. Don't know, strange one, got to wonder if he has been tapped up though.
  9. Stick KD at centre back, Jaidi goes between the sticks - problem solved. This managerial decission making is a breeze....!
  10. We are unique...!!!
  11. For those hard men here advocating the violence - fair play to you, fully support it, love to see a damn good bundle where somebody gets a good old kicking. But, please - don't associate it with football any more, don't associate it with our Club anymore. The fact that it used to go on in the 70's and 80's, well whoopee, so did smoking in restaurants and public places. That is no longer socially accepted and neither should be 'football' violence. By all means - go ahead, kick the shyte out of each other - just do it elsewhere.
  12. Correct, it has - but only a few times, so once more won't hurt...!
  13. Try post 180 on here - may still be some downloads available.
  14. Nice one, many thanks, much appreciated.
  15. Exactly the same as it did when there were - HTH.
  16. Great idea. Or we could just top the b@st@rds and be done with it. Oh shyte, right back to square one...!
  17. Occasionally a dog will drop a bone, you know...!
  18. Luckily I can differentiate between REASONABLE and NO doubt, and see both sides of the argument. Indeed doubt has been cast on the validity of evidence in a number of cases: http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/executed-possibly-innocent That said - it is a failing of the justice system, and it is they that should address such miscarriages. As for the cost aspect, unfortunately many are missing the point. Yes, it does cost millions to administer the death penalty, but the majority of those costs are attributable to the long drawn out legal process that most death row prisoners undergo. As for being a deterrant - I think it may have a small impact, but is by no means effective in curtailing violent crime. However, I believe that those that perpetrate violence against others for no reason other than their own gratification or personal gain deserve the same medicine. Therefore, where NO doubt exists as to thier involvement, and without any mitigating circumstances, I agree with the death penalty. I agree that I am not on terra firma, but like others here, it sickens me that the likes of Ian Huntley and Fred West are given custodial sentences, whilst in effect the victims (parents, relations & friends) of those that were killed, actually serve much worse sentences.
  19. Great post. Hopefully the majority would agree with this. The club has gone through the mill over the last couple of years, and now, as we have great backing and are building a successful team, the last thing that we need is to be associated with is football violence. The Spirit of Southampton and Family Club are terms synonimous with the club - for them to remain so, there is absolutely no room for the mindless thug element.
  20. Right site...? Right thread...? Right planet even...?
  21. Ahhh well, it ain't the first, and it won't be the last time. Perhaps my opinion was clouded by Red and White bias, which given it was our first win of the season, is forgivable. Next time - I will endeavour to perhaps submit a more informed opinion - or perhaps just keep my gob shut...!
  22. I thought all of his offsides were called wrong, I wasn't within 1000 miles of SMS at the time, but like others I'm allowed an opinion...!
  23. So, in other words, the much maligned LLS aka Marc Jackson, by his actions, was pivotal in saving our club, and ensuring that we got the best possible deal.
  24. Yep, we will - and Kelvin will save it yet again...!
  25. I think there is some 'do's' and don'ts' mixed up there somewhere...!
