I think Saints being unable to shift the dead wood out is the same for all premier league teams, where ever they are in the pecking order. Ozil at Arsenal, Sanchez at Man U, No one will take them because of their wages. Same for us with Forster, Carillo, Hoedt etc Bale at Real - they can't get rid. . Imagine the carnage if we got relegated? A whole team on big wages that no one wants..... Ok relegation clauses would (I hope) halve them, but still - Forster on £30k!! We'd be doomed.

The problem with most players these days is.....their agents. Agents make most cash when their players move clubs/sign contract extensions. Hence the odious Mino Raiola with Pogba, and I’m sure Lemina’s agent too is adding fuel to the move fire. Agents are the parasites making massive livings off of football. Scum. The lot of them

If that is his problem, it shows what a poor unprofessional attitude he has (and I think you are probably right). He thinks he is better than he is. He is consistently inconsistent, injury prone, and has a huge ego. If he was a decent pro, he’d be training like a beast, showing on the training ground what a fantastic work ethic he has, how fit he is, how determined and right up for the season ahead he is, and if not a first team starter, when he got his chance he’d get on the pitch and prove Ralph wrong for not starting him. Reality is he’ll go and have a little moan on social media, tell everyone how amazing he is and just sulk. He is Paul Pogba lite. And I think Paul Pogba is a terribly flawed player too for the same reasons as Mario. He is just better and has some reputation to fall back on.....over to you Mario. I think you could be our best player..... You’ve got to be bothered to show it though.....

Expectations depend on who goes and who comes in. Get rid of the dross, sign a pacey forward, attacker and CB who are first team ready starters and we will be okay, 12-16th. Spend cheap on more unproven unknowns and we will be skirting with disaster again. I think two of three who come up will go straight down again. Norwich, Sheffield and Derby/ Villa are nothing special. A season of mediocrity awaits I fear. Which is an upgrade on the below average of the last three years!

Danny Ings is our joint top scorer from half the number of games the others have played. Against Arsenal his two goals were top quality. He is a good striker, and we would struggle to get better proven quality, for £20 million. We are 16th, who do you think Saints will sign, who is better and affordable? Honestly, those slagging him are deluded.

If we start like we did at home to spurs, we will be 2-0 down in minutes. Keep them at bay until half time....who knows? Come on saints, beat them and help ruin their season!

Solid and workmanlike Saints - excellent and crucial 3 points. Fulham are gone - woeful performance from them. JWP and Redmond I though excellent, defence all very solid. Good to have Bertrand back too. Valery is a solid defender but offers little going forward. I can't remember him crossing the ball or beating a man? Hopefully he can improve his attacking side. Great to see another win at home - we are much happier than the Fulham lot - they were most unhappy with Ranieri's substitutions, and their lot in life in general. Goes to prove spending loads doesn't always equal success.

I’d have long up front with Austin so he can create some chances for him with his pace!

You’re right, I’d neglected Austin - I was thinking of starting players, I just think Austin is too slow and unfit to start - better against a tiring team? Our forward options are just so meh it hurts. I just hope, our owner Gao doesn’t think youth players are the answer to everything. If our future is youth players, not quality signings, we are done for. If not this season, it’ll be next. We are just so poor, so many substandard players in the squad, such poor recruitment, shortsightedness, seemingly tightness.

2-0 doesn’t dent the goal difference too much, better result than I feared looking at our feeble line up. Fulham is an absolute must win now, but it is for them too, should be an interesting game! Playing with no striker from the start shows how feeble our squad now is. Where the goals are supposed to come from with Ings and now obefemi out I have no idea. Releasing Gabbi seems an even stranger decision. Wednesday our choices are Long or Gallagher - that’s a league 1 strike force..... As others have said, win on Wednesday and this predictable result (and performance) will be forgotten. Lose or draw? Jesus the meltdown will be Chernobyl like....
