I'm going to persist. It's not transfer fees. It's a playing staff budget. If, for example, we get rid of 15 of our players - on frees - we probably save ourselves £25m of total liabilities (over 2+ years) That doesn't, however, just get added to some fanboy imaginary "transfer pot".

I can pretty much confirm, with 100% certainty to two decimal points, that the first part of this assertion is total and utter b0ll0cks. If the "budget" was £91m, we have spent a lot of that already on player salaries (and the new contracts that so many have signed are high). As for the second part re: Benali, I have no idea.

4th place for me. Because it would (probably) indicate a sensational long-term future for the club. If we are strong enough to get 4th in the league next year, we'll win a cup soon enough, I'd think. If we just have a single great CUp run, but end up 14th again, that would count as a great season, but wouldn't really mean we're moving forwards in a big way.

Why is everyone so seemingly insistent about this? What's wrong with signing some squad players? E.g. Say we need a 6th choice centre back who is better than Seabourne. Well, replacing him doesn't mean spending £15m on some international superstar. I think we need to sign about 3 players for the starting XI, but maybe 4 or 5 who will be typically be subs/squad players/back up.
