  1. It is interesting that many on here are getting very ahead of themselves with what we have achieved, yet a defeat on Saturday will result in the pessimists out in force and being labelled trolls. That's the problem with a lot of us as football fans, there's a knee jerk reaction to every game. FWIW I just have a feeling something special is happening, and it's understandable given the transfer window and start to the season, even though we're only 90 minutes into it. It's a case of turning defeats and draws against the Norwichs, Stokes and West Hams of the league into wins.
  2. Amazing news, didn't believe this was possible just a few days ago. Welcome Pablo! Looks like the MP connection was the deal breaker. What a transfer window, still wouldn't mind another centre back. Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
  3. Absolute rubbish, cant see us finishing any higher than last year unless we get a striker in Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
  4. Still 2/1on skybet to join spurs, buying money, surely? Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
  5. Hopefully that's this saga sorted today. That'll be weeks spent trying to sign two strikers who were always unrealistic targets. Think we could be waiting until the last day now to get a striker, not ideal with the season underway, especially with a favourable fixture list. Football transfers seem so much more complex and drawn out than they used to be! Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
  6. Once this deal collapses, who should we look to bring in then? Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
  7. Hope he signs for someone soon, very much doubt it will be us. Once again wasting valuable time Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
  8. Excellent news, so happy for him. Looks like there's a good chance of him getting some game time, especially if Rooney doesn't figure for United on Sunday Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
  9. Who is actually still left, is it Hammond, Barnard and Forte or have I missed anyone? Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
  10. The whole 'Lambert for England' debate is going to be neverending until he gets a call up. Personally I think he deserves it, even if it's only for one game and this would be an ideal opportunity. Sadly, it just won't happen, I'd still expect Rooney to be called up along with Sturridge and Walcott. Even if Lambert was top english scorer again then Hodgson would come up with an excuse, unless we have a situation like with Ferdinand where he bowed down to media pressure and picked him just to shut them up. 11. This thread is getting rather boring now, there has been very little evidence to suggest we are anywhere near to getting him and he really isn't a realistic target. Hopefully there will be some other rumours with a bit more substance in the next few days
  12. Do we really need Banega? Undoubtedly a quality player, but we look strong enough in midfield following the signing of Wanyama. Think it's essential to get another striker to get us some goals.
  13. With the way things are going, we could do a lot worse than Darren Bent. Would imagine he is available for less than 10 million. As good as any other English striker when he's on form, which admitedly he hasn't been for the last two years. Even had a good spell in the England side before that
  14. Forget last season, Swansea have been far more active than us in the transfer window and I fully expect them to finish above us again. You do have to wonder about our negotiation skills, Damiao and Osvaldo deals are clearly dead, now we are being linked with a winger who in recent years had a loan spell with Barnsley! Not exactly the sort of player who will take us to the 'next level'

    Lukaku

Wasn't there an article this morning, with Lukaku saying he won't go out on loan? Didn't rule out a transfer though. He's a beast of a player, would prefer him far more than Damiao or Osvaldo. If he's available, we need to break the bank if necessary
  16. Soldado? Absolutely no chance, laughable to even suggest he would ever join us
  17. Good luck to him, a top professional. Not the most gifted but guaranteed to put in a shift, certainly more suited to thar league. We definitely had a bit of a wobble after he got injured in the Bristol City game back in the Championship
  18. We have no chance whatsoever of signing Soldado. Spanish international, proven goalscorer at all levels. Damiao is somewhat optimistic but to suggest we have a chance of getting this guy is laughable
  19. It is getting worrying. I admire the ambition of Cortese and the club to try and target players like Damiao, but we're simply not at that level yet to compete with the likes of Napoli or any other Champions League side. Having said that, none of us really know what's going on behind the scenes, we have to assume there are other targets in mind who might not have even been mentioned on this forum. What's more concerning in my opinion, is the fact the other two heavily linked players, Banega and Wanyama, are both central midfielders. Are we wasting time going for players to add to what is arguably the strongest area of the team? Not fussed about Wanyama but Banega would be an incredible signing and we might have a chance of pulling it off. In serious need of another right back, a wide player and a striker though
  20. It is very harsh indeed, if I recall correctly he came of the bench in the opener against City? Should have at least been given a chance but that's the way football is these days, the club is evolving at rapid pace, even Jonno quick can't keep up
  21. It's a much better spread of fixtures than last season, first 7 games are all very winnable. Could be vital in setting us up for the rest of the season to avoid the panic of last season Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
  22. Altidore was terrible at Hull, nowhere near good enough Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
  23. It's an awkward one. Many have defended Gaston. Whilst he's yet to set the world alight and justify the transfer fee, it's obvious the talent is there. When he's got the ball at his feet there's no one better at the club, and as a result the fans are expecting more in terms of pass completion, goals and assists. I fully believe he will deliver the goods next season, although wouldn't be too downhearted if he leaves. Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
  24. Why the need for the constant comparisons to West Ham? They're a completely different club to us, with (rightly or wrongly) a completely different style of play and strategy regarding signing players. They have done better than us over the course of 38 games, but let's worry about our own team moving forward, we are looking to bring in quality additions, not paying 17 millions for Andy Carroll Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
  25. What was the real result, this is not a time for jokes, we all know Wigan were guaranteed to win Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
