The argument about Summer spending is slightly flawed. If you look at our squad value against the rest of the PL, I think only Reading and Norwich are lower. Therefore if performance is based on how much we spent then we are about right with regard to our league position.

One ofthe problems is that the top Premier League clubs have a much larger depth of squad. I'm not sure the good PL experienced players are actually available. A lot of them sit on the bench or in the squads of the top 7 or 8 clubs, therefore you have to go looking in the Championship or even abroad. To get a quality PL player I think we are looking at a load initially, maybe then we can work on a permanent move. We all know what type of player we need, I'm just not sure he is for sale.

Seeing him yesterday he also looks like he has trimmed up a bit and shed a bit of timber!

Just watched the dissallowed goal on MOTD. The decision was a joke, in fact if you look at it the keeper pushes himself over! Ridiculous! Also agree with the above Kelvin did seem to control the defence much better.

I actually believe that Adkins dropped a bo***ck against Man U with his substitutions, as it opened up the game for them. However, we should not forget what a fickle bunch we are, as a couple of weeks earlier against City he brought on two players who immediately both scored and he was a genius! I was pondering on the same thing. They have been the most active in the market and are still going. Whereare they getting all the money from? Then at the end of the day they will play a game which will involve hoofing the ball up toa great lump at the front and hope that the majority go in!

I just got around to reading the Sky report on the signing. It contains this statement "The signing represents a significant chunk of Southampton's summer transfer budget". How can they possbly know that? Given the way that the club runs its financial affairs and the lack of miss-information until deals are completed. I cannot see how anyone would know what our transfer budget is?
