I would like to think so, but sincerely doubt it. I also sincerely doubt that we will get no know, as I don't think we will beat Burnley or that Forest will lose to Blackpool. :-(

Absolutely spot on! It amazes me that the same people will still defend Lowe to the end, even now that he has led SLH into admin and with the same threat hanging over our heads. There was plenty of time between October and April to save SLH from admin, if one were an astute businessman of course!

Personally I hope they are relegated by the time we play them. Or if not them then I hope that both Norwich and Barnsley are relegated by the last game of the season. All that would take is for us to win our next two matches and for 2 of those three to not pick up another point between now and the final matches. Did I say, 'all that would take?????' And if not, then I agree it is good news that Earnshaw is out.

Let's hope this is the start of a 4 game winning streak!! Well done DMG for the 'wonder strike,' KD for the great save at the death, and to all the rest of the team.

Which could have something to do with the fact he has been out injured for a few weeks. From Sportinglife: Grzegorz Rasiak has returned to training but is still nursing a groin injury so Priskin will hope to continue to lead the line with top scorer Tommy Smith playing just behind.

You get 3 points for a win nowadays, therefore we can get a further 9 points after today (and, of course, a further 12 points with today's match included).

get in there DMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My first ever Saints match was on an Easter Monday. 15th April 1968 away to Arsenal which we won 3-0. I was 4 and, of course, my dad (Saints fan) took me along a friend of his (an Arsenal fan). His friend had a good contact at Highbury and would always get seats up in the stands right on the halfway line. Unfortunately I can't remember who scored. I also cannot remember my first game at the Dell (we probably lost and I erased it from my memory).

As you say, we have to win this one. As for the others: my money would be on Norwich and Watford drawing, and wins for Sheff Utd and Swansea.

I agree wholeheartedly with all of the above!

To be perfectly honest I can't remember a single a post you have ever made. I think it was JFP who was making an almost daily thread at the time of those rare wins, but this thread wasn't aimed at him either. As with every other Saints fan, I would have been ecstatically happy had Wotte led Saints to victory in every single match. As it stands now I am extremely disappointed that the early promise he showed proved to be a false dawn. I apologise for wondering just how the two of them had panned out over the same number of games in charge.

How is this thread 'sticking the boot into the club'? And how is it going to effect the outcome of our season? If you don't like the thread then don't read it. There are plenty of threads on this site that I think are pointless, but I don't say so on them. I think doing so would be even more pointless!

Thanks for the info. I was just sat here wondering what the stats were last night and was to tired/lazy to work it out for myself.

After Wotte got a win or two there were loads of posters on here quick to say how great he was and how crap Pearson had been. Can one of those please now show us a comparison in their records as far as games in charge of Saints go as it stands now? Thanks.

And not to mention however much Kim Van der whatsit was paid; and all the other loanees who didn't do anything; and Tommy F; and a few others that I can't be bothered to name. But it's still Barclay's fault that we went 100k over the overdraught limit!

I believe you are ignoring the fact that Lowe himself, and Wotte, and Portaloo, have all been quoted in the press/on TV that they knew Lowe and Wilde would be in power this season and who the management team would be AT THIS TIME LAST YEAR. In other words, there was no way that Pearson was ever going to be retained; therefore there was no meaningful meeting with him (Pearson) and your husband/lover.
-
I actually laughed out loud at that. Good to see you back on here.

So, in summary, on our way to the final we beat: A team from the division ABOVE us. A team from our own division who finished only 4 places and 7 points below us that season. Another team from our own division, but one who got promoted to Div 1 that very same season. And two teams from leagues below us. I would say that equals at least 2, and probably 3, teams of serious opposition on our way to the final. Compare that to the 2003 trip (where we played one game against an out of form team in our own division and then every other round was against teams from lower divisions) and maybe you will see my point. Oh, and of course, let's not forget that against all odds we won that final too! But I do understand the point you are making about Ted.
-
Because that's where Wotte wanted them. I know, it's a crazy world, and I also don't understand why any manager would have left footer on the right wing and a right footer on the left.
-
I really hope no matter where we are next season that we sign a RB; and, if Euell, Saga and BWP all leave, an experienced old CF. I think a midfield of: James-Gillett-DMG-Holmes would be pretty decent. Ability there to create and score goals, especially if we do go down.
-
Our only serious opposition was in the final? Please remind us of our status then, and that of all our opposition in getting there. You're not forgetting that we were a div 2 team are you? (CCC team in today's book.) And there are all those who say how great Rupes was by leading us to a DEFEAT at Wembley in 2003 when our only SERIOUS opposition that season WAS in the final!!!

Well said! (Clapping smiley thingy.)

A very good article and spot on IMO. I especially likes these bits: Rupert Lowe, Southampton?s former chairman and chief executive, may have made a career of getting relegated and pointing fingers..... Lowe deduced that Mawhinney?s rulebook contained a loophole so large it could lasso an ox and went about exploiting it. His clever use of a technicality ? quite possibly the cleverest thing he has done at Southampton, apart from resigning....
