  1. Saga has scored in 50% of the games he has played for us this season. Who will play at RB if james gets injured suspended? Who will play at CB if Size or Perry gets injured or suspended? We play with ONE up front and have several players who have played in that role this season. Yes, we need to score goals to win games. We also need to not conceed in order to not lose them! No point in scoring 1 if the opposition is going to get 2, or more!! And lets wait and see who this 'new' striker is shall we? Do you think he will be a big name with a good scoring record in this league? Or is he more likely to be as I think, an 18/19 year old CCC/League 1 reserve player?
  2. According to you on another thread it doesn't matter who the manager is. I thought you believed the manager doesn't really make any difference?
  3. I might not vote for him when it comes down to it, but just so he is in the running I will give a second nomination of: Shearer
  4. Actually there are 2 questions: Who? and Why? (As in why is another striker the priority?) We have just had Saga return, to go with BWP, DMG and Paterson (with White, Lallana and McLaggon also capable of playing up front.) At CB we have Perry, Size and LAncashire. Surely another CB is more needed than a striker? At RB we have, errrmmmm, James and he's not a RB. Surely a RB should be THE priority. However, we seem to be getting a striker, and yes we certainly do need to score more goals. But will the undoubted 18/19 year old CCC/League 1 reserve player that we bring in get us these goals?
  5. I voted 'bottom half' on this one (elsewhere I predicted 18th). I will be VERY happy if this does come to pass, but I fear I aimed way too high. :-(
  6. Quite understandable. I didn't think it would have anything to do with wanting to keep the new and revolutionary training set-up under wraps if they didn't still have them. After all, who would want to copy us? I was wondering in case someone could go along to find out exactly who this Kim van der Wilde fella was and what he does there.
  7. Is training ever open to the public any more? I know it used to be (was it on Tuesdays?) but haven't seen a post on here for a very long time of someone going along to watch.
  8. Ottery, I love your posts, keep em coming. They're the best things on here lately. Oh, and I don't believe for a second that Portaloo paid that 60k out of his own pocket either.
  9. Hey, that one was down to me (it's the game I have been to at SMS so far this season). And on topic: Well done guys and gals. I am seriously impressed with your imput on here. You make Columbo look like an amatuer! Apart from no one ever having any idea about this guy being at SMS (and no one ever having heard of him before) is that he states he and Lowe have devised the footballing plan (or words to that effect) which woulkd certainly give credence to those who claim Portaloo does as Lowe (via KvdW?) tells him. It also goes against Wotte's statement at AGM that he and Portaloo pick the tactics, team, etc.
  10. Many people said the same thing about Jason Dodd. I would rather someone with experience thanks. Enough of the experiments! I would be happy with any experienced (in England!) manager, and especially so with any of: Micky Adams Iain Dowie Paul Tisdale
  11. I don't think there is any doubt as to who will win this vote, but seeing as we need some other decent candidates: Shearer, Shearer, Shearer!
  12. And not to mention the fact we had two players with FIRST TEAM experience playing. I wonder how many of the Watford team are first team regulars?
  13. Hello Rupert!! :yawinkle: You are right though, I only wish refs would yellow card the ManUre (and other top clubs) players every time they said anything out of order to them.
  14. Spot on St. T! And now I see the MOD are going to investigate Harry/the 'incident'. So, I think that I shall take a few hours to jot down the name of every officer I ever served under and write a formal letter of complaint about words they used (whether to me or just in genereral) and I hope the MOD investigates all of them as well!!!
  15. Although it is how strikers are judged, it's not just about goals with Saga - it's what he brings to the team. Stern got the vast majority of his goals last season when playing alongside Saga. He adds experience and a good work-rate. If anyone seriously would rather have DMG and Paterson up front they are clearly as insane as JP and RL.
  16. His comments were spot on.
  17. It isn't Harry or his comments that may caused upset here, it's the NotW and the ***t who gave them the tape. This was something that was said 3 years ago, not in a name calling way to offend someone but in banter with his army mates. Mountains and molehills is the definitely the cae here. And, if anything, it is those I have named above who should be making the apologies for this now beng in the public domain and thus stirring up tension and angst amongst a few. FWIW there are nickmanes for virtually everyone in the forces depending on where you are from, the colour of your hair, how tall you are, your body size, your surname, etc, etc, etc, and most of these would probably be considered as derogatory by the vast majority of civvies. However, there is very rarely any harm meant and if you can't handle being called a name or two you certainly wouldn't be any use when being shot at!
  18. If that's who think should be there, stop complaining and nominate him! And just for a giggle I will too. Big Ron Davis
  19. For once, on the main board, I totally agree with you TDD.
  20. I wasn't at all surprised to hear about Rudi's 'injury picked up in training' either, especially after his comments about too many kids this week. I wonder if the 'injury' was caused by a baseball bat wielding head coach or chairman? I did notice that Wotton has reappeared in the squad though. Maybe he made up with Jan by 'injuring' Rudi? There is just soooo much we are not told.
  21. Yep! As far as I can remember we reached the pay-offs when he wasn't here. As opposed to ending up mid-table (with our strongest squad in the CCC) and probably (but hopefully not) being relegated with him at the helm.
  22. No it's not his fault he is playing (except that he could have twisted his ankle getting out of the bath this morning or dropped something on his toe, etc ;-)). So, whose fault is it?
  23. Hey Jonny Boy, I'll even give you today's result as a freebie (seeing as there was no way in month of Sundays we were ever going to get anything out of it). Do you want to match my offer or not?
  24. Oh, okay. How much time should we give him then? You know, seeing as he is one of only 2 fit CBs our management have left us with and given the fact we are 23rd in the league?
  25. What is it with this 'processed' business. All it takes is a fax. A llborg haven't had a game for weeks now. The fax could have easily been prepared well in advance. How difficult is it for a no mark office worker to go send a fax at any time on the 1st Jan? Believe it or not many people do have to go into work on that day of the year. I'm pretty sure sending one fax would not have stopped anyone enjoying their new year celebration. I will say it again, if the club had really wanted Saga available they would have done everything possible for UEFA to have received this fax. And if the fax had not been sent on time, as agreed/requested, they should be seeking reasons why/compensation from Allborg for failing to send it. If this had been a Utd player and Fergie had wanted him available what do you think would have happened? He would be screaming from the rooftops about it. What do we get? Oh, Allborg never sent his registration in time. Oh dear, never mind. It really is quite laughable how some people accept incompetance, or downright lies, from the directors of SFC and sit there backing them to the hilt.
