Why is it pointless to have our ONLY international fwd available for this match? Personally I feel he would be likely to score than DMG, Paterson or BWP. Imagine if we were to get a replay at OT? How much would THAT pay day help us? Or better still, what if we were to win and get another big team in the next round? No, it's clearly best to play our under 14's as they are cheaper and no matter we put on the field we will lose anyway. After all there are never any shocks in the cup are there? Forest didn't win away at City today and we didn't really beat ManUre in '76 despite them being one the best teams around at the time and us wallowing in the second tier of English football. FFS!!

Add to that: Saga is ineligible - thus McG, Paterson and BWP are our only fwds available (perm any 2 from 3) Parry and Lancashire ae our only fit CBs James is our only option at RB Either Rudi will continue at LB or Molyneux will be his debut (which would be madness IMO) for CM there is no Cork and it would be crazy (again, IMO) to rush Spiderman or Surman back for this match, so we will probably have G&G there again. Smith is the Giant Killer so will obviously start, but on the wrong side And Holmes is loved by all. This gives us: -------------------------Davis---------------------------- James---------Perry---------Lancashire---------Rudi ----------------Gillett-----------Gobern---------------- Smith------------------------------------------------Holmes --------------------------DMcG------------------------------ -------------------------------Paterson--------------------- Or something similar.

We didn't win many games? No, only enough to get within a penalty shoot-out of the play-off final. If we were doing that well this year I guarantee you our match-day sales would be far better than they currently are.

Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best Right Forward/Striker

and CMs. I know, we are taking this too seriously. -
So why haven't Saints announced the official complaint to UEFA about Aab's incompetency?
-
You're right, my bad! I still think they could have worded it better about how Leceister grabbed a last minute winner just after RS had gone off though.
-
Total madness? No, total double dutch football!

Did Lawrie have us second from bottom going into the new year back in '74? I don't remember us being second from bottom under Sturrock or Burley. Indeed, I do remember Burley getting us into the play-offs. And you call that never managing any better than JP has this season? May I just remind you, Saints have OFFICIALLY suffered their worst first half of a season EVER! But I'll tell you what, seeing as you want to compare JP and his Saints with Accrington Stanley........... If we go on an unbeaten run between now and the ernd of the season and end up getting promoted on goal difference as a result I will fly over to the UK and take you out for the biggest slap up meal, with free booze all evening, to celebrate. Now, if we stick with JP (as Lowe probably will do) will you treat me to the same in an effort to lesson the hurt of relegation should that occur?
-
Now there's a novel idea. If only Jan had thought of that and we had kept the right footed Dyer instead of signing Smith??
-
Yep, it means if it is 0-0 with a minute to go we should take him off and then we might get a last minute winner.

If the powers that be at SFC really wanted our only international class forward available to play against ManUre, and had done all they could to ensure this happened but were only let down by the negligence of Aallborg, I would expect to see a press release something like: 'SFC have lodged an official complaint with UEFA in regard to Aallborg not sending international clearance for Saganowski, as had previously been agreed upon, back to his parent club within the necessary time scale. Furthermore, SFC shall be seeking compensation from that club in regard to his (Sagaowski's) wages for a further month.' But then again, if there was never any intention of Saga being available for this (or any other) match I would expect to see some poncy excuse hidden somewhere obscure on our OS.

Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best Right Forward/Striker

I'm surprised you didn't go for a straight front 2 St L. Most people know who their favourite front 2 are but the decisions will be split on who should be right and who should be left. This has to be the hardest 2 positions as there are so many great players to choose from. I think most people of a certain age would go for Mick C and Big Ron, but there are so many other younger supporters who will pick/vote for those they have seen play (i.e. Marian, BT, etc). Personally, I only ever saw Big Ron play a few times when I was a very young nipper. Mick C I saw a lot more of. And, both of them have lots of votes. So, I'll go for: Kevin Keegan -
Great article on the OS - http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11169 - well, it made me lol anyway. It says how Ryan Smith is one of the few Saints players to have played against ManUre before (as a sub for the Arse in a 1-0 loss Carling Cup match) and then goes on to state his 'Giant Killing' exploits. To save anyone who doesn't want to read the entire thing the bother of following the link: he played 89 minutes for Leicester against Spuds, when the Foxes scored a 90th minute goal to record a 1-0 win in the cup 2 years ago. In other words, Leceister scored the only goal of the game just after he was subbed off. Still, here's hoping he and the other 'kids' can do the business tomorrow.

Pele was great as a defensive CM, but was shyte as as a CB.
-
To be fair, Bailey gets far more rumours right than he gets wrong. I sincerely hope he is wrong in this instance though.

Saints: Davis, James, Perry, Cork, Skacel, Gillett, Gobern, Smith, Holmes, Peterson, McGoldrick. Subs: Bialkowski, Lancashire, McLaggon, Euell, Wright-Phillips. This is getting ever more crazy!! BWP and Euell 'rested' against Plymouth so that they don't get too tired sitting on the bench today! No Surman! (Maybe he twisted his ankle getting out of the bath this morning?) I think I may want to up my prediction of a 0-3 loss to somewhere around 0-5.
-
You have posted exactly the same thing in half-a-dozen different threads. Please can show the quote where it says, 'if Saga goes back we will not keep Cork or Pearce'? If you are merely referring to the fact that we will struggle financially with his wages then there are other options. Saga returning does not have to mean no Cork. (Especially for a great businessman like Lowe. 'rollyeyedthingy')
-
Quite right. Keegan often played slightly behind Moran, etc, etc. And as for our players not being good enough or coached well enough, who is to blame for that?
-
It was crazy to rest players for yesterday's match. Especially when those who were rested (Perry, BWP, Euell) had not played for 6 days whereas their replacements (Lancashire, Smith, Gobern/Gillett - along with Paterson, Mills, Mclaggon and Forecast) had played an 'especially arranged' reserve match 4 days previously. Although most of the 'reserves' did play only either the first or second halves it still makes no sense at all!
-
David Armstrong, the best LM I have seen in a Saints shirt by a country mile. By the way, with only this position and the strikers to vote for, what is going to happen with subs? How many are we going to have? Just a suggestion, if we were to go for the current top filght rule of 7 we could vote for: 1 x GK 1 x Fullback (RB or LB) 1 x CB 1 x CM 1 x RM or LM 1 x FWD and finally, 1 x any player who we think should grace either team who has not already been selected.

Nicely put, but may I suggest a slight amendment: Southampton Leisure Holdings PLC once again ensured SFC completed its obligation to its supporters by providing a team in order to fulfil a football fixture.
