  1. I understand the rules perfectly St L and have been joining in with this from the GK position. But it appears that you have moved the goalposts somewhat for this position. Granted, Terry Paine would have certainly walked away with the best RW for the A Team. Just as it was a virtual certainty that Golac would, and did, walk away the RB slot. However, if you had decided that we didn't need to vote for Ivan 'as he would win it at a canter' but instead only asked to vote for who fill that position in the B team I sincerely doubt that Jason Dodd would now be deemed as our 2nd best ever RB! I am pretty sure there would have plenty of others, like myself, who would have gone for Mick Mills. Anyway, that is a moot point as those positins have now been decided upon. However, can you answer these questions please: 1. I thought the idea was to put the most nominated players for that position to the vote, presuming those players had ever actually played there of course? 2. I have had a look for the 'nomination' thread but cannot find it. So, could you please tell me/us how many delusional people (and please name and shame them) nominated Keegan, Ball, Tessem, Danny Wallace, et al for RM/RW as, possibly with the exception of Tessem on a couple of occasions, they did not play in that position. 3. If you think my final point above is incorrect can you please inform us all how often Keegan and Ball in particular played RM/RW? 4. I know for certain that other players received nominations (i.e. MLT and Mick Channon) for this position, were these players omitted for this vote purely so that they are eligable to be voted into the A team? If so, isn't that you saying 'okay peeps lets vote for who we want to be in the A and B teams, except when someone I want in the A team might get put into the B team instead? Thanks. Minsk
  2. I nominated Mick Channon as Saints 2nd best ever RW. Is he not included in the poll purely because St L wants him elsewhere? Did KK or Alan Ball ever play at RM/RW for us? I certainly don't recall ever seeing them there. KK was always up front (where he formed one of our best ever partnerships with Steve Moran) and Bally was always running the show from the centre of midfield. Conversely, I do recall Mick playing on the RW on numerous occasions. Indeed, I am sure I saw play there far more often than as a striker. and yet he cannot be our 2nd best RW, even though he really was?????

I would disagree, especially if the shoes have steel toe-caps. But you can certainly run away faster in trainers once you have given that kick to the head. N.B. All of the above is said from a hypothetical point of view and not one of experience. Honest guv.
  4. I thought it was something he was smoking, not drinking. ;-)
  5. Yes, it is a possibility, but so are any 2 from them Shearer, Keegan, Phil Boyer, Steve Moran, possibly MLT and, given that Dodd got voted into the B team ahead of Mick Mills (which goes to show that a lot of younger posters on here are voting for who they have seen, not just heard about) the likes of Beattie, Rasiak, Stern John or even Walcott. Actually, the latter could be a possible nomination for this position (certainly better than Ridgely and Fernandez, for example) but IMHO the best RW we ever had was TP and the second best was MC, so maybe they should be in those positions for the A and B teams respectively?
  6. I was going to say Terry Paine but seeing as so many others have said it and I'm not sure if would win of the 2 striker slots I'll say......... Mick Channon
  7. The main problem with thread is that someone like Askham was probably in the first lifeboat, all alone with 50 people's rations having fed all the women and children in there with him to the sharks.
  8. Maybe he thought there was no need for him to be there too early seeing as Rupes gives the pre-match team talk and has now even started to be pitch-side during the warm up?
  9. Lowe will not allow it. He has said numerous times that we will never do a Leeds. He does, however, want us to be like Crewe...... and for those who don't know they are currently sat at the bottom of league one, so it looks as if he is getting his wish!
  10. In my earlier Saints supporting days: Nick Holmes, Graham Baker and Malcolm Waldron. Towards the end of our prem years: Matt Oakley (pre-injury), Chris Marsden and Jason Dodd. Since relegation: Licka, Madsen and Vignal.
  11. Ivan Golac by a country mile methinks.
  12. Yep, Tristan da Cunha is the most isolated populated island in the world. It is also one of ten from the above list that I have been to. Of them all I think I would live in Bermuda, a truly beautiful place.
  13. I hope Jan agrees with us!
  14. What has happened to all the Polish Saints fans? Are any of you still around, or have you all started supporting Watford or AaB?
  15. Absolutely spot on Arizona! My best 11 (hopefully for the match against ManUre): ----------------------Davis------------------------- Cork-----------Perry-----Pearce---------Skacel ------------Schneiderlin---Surman--------------- Lallana-------------------------------------Holmes -----------------------Euell-------------------------- --------------------Saganowski-------------------- From those currently available and fit to play (i.e. for this coming Saturday): ----------------------Davis------------------------- James-----------Perry-----Pearce--------Skacel ------------Schneiderlin---Cork------------------- Lallana-------------------------------------Surman -----------------------Euell-------------------------- --------------------DMG-----------------------------
  16. Financially a draw followed by a win at OT. Personally, I will be hoping for a win at SMS followed by a draw at home to Eastwood.
  17. They do that over here. In order for people to claim a pittance of benefits they have to 'work' for the council for 2-3 days a week picking up litter, cleaning graffiti off of wlls, etc. A good idea too, I think.
  18. I honestly think we get Leceister (for obvious reasons) but seeing as that has gone I will go for: Fulham
  19. Robertson off. Pearce on at CB. Jack Cork into CM. Drew pushed into hole with DMG up front.
  20. Mark Wright and Dave Watson Killer is the only other who even comes close IMO.
  21. Eeeerrrmmmm, who was it who said way back when that 'we don't want to do a Leeds'?
  22. I think all those who gather in the boardroom at SMS are loco!
  23. Flyer has been around for a long time and generally always adds something good to a thread. (Or at least another viewpoint, without any bias.) As for the original point of this thread: I have always that Primus (despite being a Skate) has been a solid and consistant player, without ever being anything special. I firmly believe that had Burley played Cranie a lot sooner (or at least one game sooner) in our play-off season we would not ourselves in the situation we are now in. i.e. I think we would have won promotion, and may have subsequently been relegated again, but we would have more money, may have been taken over, but almost certainly would not have our current chairman back at the helm. Oh, and yes, they will both almost certainly take a lot of stick from the Saints fans today.
  24. Which I mentioned further up in that post.
