I used to like Bompey. I previously gave money to help them out, and was happy for our youngsters to get experience playing for them. However, after the carp their fans were coming out with last season I wouldn't care less if they dropped out of the professional leagues completely.

We're gonna score one more than you!!!!!!!!!! There are 2 ways to win a football match: 1. Score more goals than the opposition (ala Kevin Keegan) 2. Concede fewer goals than the opposition (ala George Graham) The first gives us exciting matches; the second, very boring ones. The style of football we play tends more towards the former (as Shurlock said). Moreover, there are some very good teams in this league with some very good forwards. It has always been clearly obvious we will concede more goals than last season. Especially so when playing teams like Leicester with the money they have spent followed by a very good Forest side where we had to change 3 of our 4 defenders due to injury. Still, it's nice to see continuity..... thanks for not disappointing us Alps!

Sorry, I'm going to do an MLG impersonation........... The 19 appearances last season are broken down into: Rangers - 6 starts 4 sub B'pool - 5 starts 4 sub So not quite as bad as it sounds, but still zero goals from 19 appearances last season.

Personally I hope Theo plays a blinder and gets another England hat-trick. I am wayyy too patriotic to ever want England to lose at anything. Plus Poland and Ukraine are right on my doorstep and I know someone who lives very close to the stadium in Kiev who could get me tickets if we play there.

You're right, he doesn't seem to put them straight in, which is why I thought he would stick with Seaborne despite signing Hooiveld. However, as that is not now possible i think it is a close call to make. Fortunately it isn't my call and Adkins will have the benefit of seeing both CBs in training all week before he has to make his decision. I think he will go with the new guy, unless he is not match fit enough.

Due to my work locations, most of my (UK) pubbing/clubbing was done in Portsmouth, Plymouth and Glasgow (in the 80's/90's). It was a rare night out to not see any sort of fisticuffs, but I only ever got caught up in something once; which was when a bouncer in Plymouth punched me without warning for no reason at all. This was at a time when the bouncers in Plymouth would often do such things to servicemen, until a commando unit went out one evening and persuaded the clubs to hire new staff........ So, yes, there has always been violence around (I believe it has something to do with alcohol, young men and testosterone) but most of the time it can usually be avoided. In the RN when we went out we would have one person who remained 'more sober' than the rest, who would watch our backs and stop the more volatile ones from doing stupid things. Having said all that, I do feel a lot safer on the streets at night over here than I ever used to feel back in the UK. In 7 years of living here I have only ever seen 2 fights whilst on a night out. And, back on the thread subject, it is good to hear that Dan may be released from hospital shortly. I hope he makes as speedy a recovery as possible and will be very happy to see him in a Saints shirt again. I will, however, be surprised if that happens before the new year.

Good post. Asking £2m for a player they payed £1.4m for, only played him 7 times, and sent him out on loan twice is crazy. No wonder NA/NC wouldn't pay that. I would be very surprised if we paid anything close to half of that, even if Jos proves to be better than Killer and Clause combined!
