Perhaps he realised that N'Guessen, Forte and Stephens weren't better than Lallana, Chamberlain and Chaplow - two of whom were here prior to Pardew whilst the other was an Adkins signing? In any event, as someone else also posted, it was made clear at the end of January the primary targets couldn't be purchased due to inflated prices based on the Chamberlain rumours. Plus, each of these 3 did make a significant contribution to wards the number of points we obtained. Therefore, not totally wasted signings. Additionally, the first 2 gave us options of speed out wide (which everyone said we needed back in Jan) and the latter was short term cover during a CM crises.

I will be very happy if we sign Jack Cork.

I feel gutted for Huddersfield, but on the bright side.... After the wonders that Fergie Jnr worked for PNE in the Champ last season, and after they have sold CMS, I can see Posh giving Poopey a strong fight for 24th place next season.

As well as marmite (as mentioned on the other thread) the other thing I always buy to bring back with me (because it can't be found here) is Tetley's tea-bags (the round ones). These I drink with milk, no sugar. You can get lots of green and fruit flavoured teas here which I drink without milk, although occasionally with sugar. I also enjoy a nice cup of coffee, with milk and sugar. Failing that, virtualy anything alcoholic!!

IMO, Adam is better than many of the midfielders and forwards in the final squad - but I am happy he has the opportuntiy to rest and FULLY get over his injuries during the summer.

Two excellent posts. Well done to Nige and all the coaching staff. I was one of those who was pleased with Adkins' appointment, but he has proved to be even better than I thought he would. And as for those who can only say things like, 'He has only done what was expected of him' and 'I'll judge him on next year's performances', I think this says a lot more about those posters than it does about Nige and his team!

As most others have said: CB - to replace Jaidi (but keep Jaidi as back-up) CM - to replace Hammond (but keep Hammond as back-up) CF - champ/prem experienced to give another option; though most likely (and usually) to play alongside Ricky - I think Ricky has improved vastly in becoming a provider, as well as, scorer this season i.e. the spine of the team. I can see our team on the opening day of next season looking something like: -----------------------Kelvin------------------------- Richardson------Fonte-------New CB---------Harding/Dickson AOC---------Morgan----------New CM---------Lallana --------------Rickie----------New CF---------------- I have no idea as to who the new CB could be, but someone like Bowyer from Birmingham (I think he is out of contract at the end of this season and would be released should they stay up) would be an excellent midfield general in the CC and someone like Sam Vokes (again, I believe a realistic target) at CF.
