EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United plan to sign Adam Lallana
Turkish replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
They finished 4th in his first season, which was before the abramovich era. They spent £28m the season he signed and £45m the season before so hardly paupers miles away from the elite was it. -

They finished 6th the season he joined and qualified for the champions league in his first season, spending millions and millions building the side that would become champions, not really like Everton is it. -

They do fit because they are examples of players who have left midtable clubs and gone on to have long and successful careers at top clubs, all do them still playing, you don't like them because they don't fit your agenda. As for your point on Leeds, they finished 5th in the season Ferdinand left them for Man United, after playing in the champions league that season. this was at the start of their financial meltdown, although few people outside of Elland road knew how bad it would get at that point. So arguably at the time he moved they were higher up the football hierarchy than we are now. -

He might also look at frank Lampard, rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole (before the injuries) James Milner too. -

Yet you list three players who did jump at the chance of a move to back up your case. -

I really don't know where some people get their figures from. A £30m starting point for a player that is 25 with half a season of being very good for a midtable club and 3 England caps under his belt. So only a few quid less than Ozil then. -

He ain't that young though is he. He's 25 and nearing his prime. He's given us plenty of years of loyal service and already been part of something special. Maybe its time for him to go to the fabled 'next level'? -

What are you on about? The other side of this argument is that as an established premier league player and breaking into the England squad if he values his football career he'd want to play at the best possible level, with the biggest club and have a shot at winning trophies. -

That's 5% more than he's got right now and if he joined them in January he'd get it this season as well as a guaranteed place on the plane to Brazil -
It's a very unfunny joke, although I did find the comment about imagining the look on one of the 'PC brigades' face when they read it funny. I can imagine some of the ones on here 'outraged' when they see it and can't hit 'reply to thread' quick enough to express their disgust. Its done exactly what the intention of it was, has it not?

Of course there is no middle ground. If I was a saints fan and a professional footballer that had given my club great service for a few years and Man United wanted to sign me I'd be very grateful for having the honour of playing for my club, but as some one that was ambitious and wanted to win things and play at the top level I'd be straight up the m6. -

Which club is he more likely to win trophies and play in the champions league at? -

If he goes to Man United he's guaranteed to be in the England squad! I think he'll go to the World Cup anyway and rightly do, he's been fantastic for us this but realistically if Man United, City or Chelsea come in for one of our players you they'll go and why wouldn't they? -

It's hilarious the amount of people claiming there is 'no chance' of him going to Man United, like its the most ridiculous thing they've ever heard. Its Man United FFS! they might be going through a sticky patch but they are still on one the worlds biggest clubs who can offer a player champions league football, the prospect of medals and a shoe in to the England squad. If this is serious I'd be very surprised if he stays and you wouldn't blame him for going. -

You think Lallana going to Man United it unrealistic? -
That's an hour mate, about 12-15 minutes for the first bit, 25 minutes for the wights, doing cardio programme should only have a 1 min rest between sets. The final bit should take about 20 mins including rests between sets. The circuit will take about 40 mins. Its hard work but if you want to lose fat its not easy. Its much more effective than these dinlows that sit on the bike at the same pace for an hour anyway.
-
Clearly a joke and you dinlows have fallen for it and played right into their hands by using this as an opportunity to scream and shout beat them with the 'racist' tag just like they said it would. Of course if you'd done your research rather than jumping to conclusions then you'd know this.

Worrying isn't it that we are all praying for Davis to be fit, another keeper proven to be out his depth at this level but still a vast improvement on what we've had the last few weeks.
-
His shoes.
-
Some player isn't he. Confirms what I put in my report above. Many similarities to Mick Harford there as I said . I only wish I'd advised Les Reed on him like I did when I told the club about Morgan Schnidelin a few years back.

Carlos Vela linked to southampton for 20 million

Agreed. The last few weeks have proven that we only have 2 decent centre halves which isn't enough if we had Lovern, plus another like him with Fonte as back up that would be an excellent position to be in. left back I'm not too concerned about, when Clyne is fit he or chambers can fill in at left back for the odd games Shaw misses every now and again. -

Much as I'd like us to get Astori I think this one might be dead, MP was quoted as saying when we signed Lovren that we wanted Astori originally but went for Lovren instead. I hope the club consider a CB a priority as I don't think Fonte is the long term answer, Astori fits the bill but not sure if we still want him. Bergovic would be a superb signing but think bigger clubs than us might want him. Hopefully we can find the new Tim Krul. -
What does that have to do with it?

Remember screaming that at the time too!
