  1. I posted on the match thread he is exactly the sort of player we need. £175k!!!!
  2. What are peoples thoughts now?
  3. it all makes a lot of sense and is a very good idea. As long as manager also has a major input into transfers and all other football matters.
  4. Dont be silly. You've got lots of journalists and rumours all over the place from people in Southampton saying Adkins isn't in full controll. If it was just one or two you can dismiss it, but it's coming from lots of sources.
  5. He's also said many times he has a great relationship with the chairman. I think most people are starting to accept that isn't true now.
  6. Dont disagree. I feel a lot of loyalty towards Nige and i dont like seeing what is essentially a really decent bloke struggling and looking at times like a beaten man. I also feel that there are too many rumours of him working in "intolerable conditions" for them to be just made up bulls*t. But if there is a better manager available then the club is the most important thing and i'm sure Nigel will go on to be successful somewhere else.
  7. He meant Jedi school
  8. You could say the same about Nige though. How poor did we look when Lambert didn't play. Doncaster away anyone?
  9. Hang on. Only a few weeks ago, when people said other fans were taking the p*ss out of our fans for having so many bulbs in fancy dress people were very indignant and insisted that they didn't give a f*ck what other clubs thought of us. So why do we care what Swansea fans think about us?
  10. Really? I dont know anyone away from the mongboard world that wanted him out.
  11. Pardew was against the fans wishes. Chris Nicholl was a strange one, the fans wanted him gone but looking back he actaully did a very good job under the circumstances. I always remember Nicholls comments on his sacking, "it's not from faliure but failure to bring success" Nicholl Out, Branfoot in.
  12. that is what i am lead to believe. Chelsea wanted Guardiola and he wanted to take a year out so they gave it to Di Matteo based on his champions league win. If Guardiola had taken the job i'm fairly sure Di Matteo would be at Saints now.* *feel free to believe or dismiss this, i am only saying what i was told
  13. You will notice i haven't been using my charming man, dune or Sour Mash logins much recently.
  14. I was told he knows Di Matteo well and actually wanted to bring him in in the summer before he got the Chelsea job. Feel free to believe or dismiss this, i am only saying what i was told.
  15. Because the last few times we didn't have anyone lined up it went really well. Dean Wilkins? Dodd and Gorman? Wotte?
  16. I thought being lamblasted was the new being shouted down?
  17. Remember the Pardew saga? All sorts of rumours going round he was about to be sacked, a meeting to place, reports pardew was safe and then suddenly he's sacked a couple of weeks into the season.
  18. Behave.
  19. The Brook is great for older bands and tribute acts. The Joiners was always the place to go for upcoming bands. They'd had the likes of the Manic Street Preachers, Suede, Oasis, Charlatans, Artic Monkeys and Libertines all play there before they made it. And of course the famous Nivana gig in the last 80's which people swear blind they were at that never actually happened!
  20. He'd be my choice. Not Corteses!
  21. What are you suggesting?!!!!
  22. My ideal choice would be Claudio Raneri. I think he's got the temperment to handle working with Cortese, the presence in the game to attact decent players who would want to come and play for him and the experience of the division and also other top leagues in Europe as well as being a good manager. I just dont think he'd leave Monaco unless Cortese was able to really persuade him that there was a really exciting challenge to be had here.
  23. This is a difficult one as it's neither postive or negative. Although i'm going to park this in the "Bullsh*t rumours" file for now as it mentions Cortese meddling in team affairs.
  24. The Joiners appears to be struggling financially. There are even suggestions it might have to close down and if it does then that will be the death of live music in Southampton. I am sure most people on here with an interest in music would have been to the Joiners at some point and there is no way an iconic Southampton venue should be allowed to die. This place is part as huge part of our city!! I would urge all of you to support this venue and get behind it, even if it's just popping in for a pint on a matchday, anything to help save the place. It's a fantastic place and the city won't be the same without it.
  25. Sue Whistle and Wes Ender are gone then!
