Andy Cole had a couple of season where he scored more goals than Alan Shearer, but who was the best striker? Cole might have been better for a season here and there but Shearer proved himself better over 10 seasons. 99% of people will agree, yes?

I rest my case. You say it yourself RIGHT NOW. Who has been better over the last 5 seasons? Lambert is the best player in the league RIGHT NOW but like Rooney, Whittingham has been good at this level over the last 3 or 4 seasons. If it was a top 50 of RIGHT NOWs Lambert wins, but it isn't.
