I know someone very similar, he's basically spent most of the last 15 years or so brown nosing, spending his weekends with his managers and their wives going for weekends away with them etc. He's done very well from it, he's been promoted several times now has a very senior role in another company and to be fair he is very capable and good at what he does but fuck me to make that the only thing in life that defines you to the point where pretty much your whole life revolves around work and your friends are people in the industry is pretty tragic.
