Well i dont see what your point is, could Saints beat England, no- we agree, however I'm still waiting for this list of games when Englands world class players have been outstanding in world cup or euro championship finals.

I never said you did say Saints could beat England, You called me a hypocrite for saying that Apline was mental for suggesting it and for me then saying that our supposedly "world class players" are over rated. As i have now said for the third time it is relative, i never said they weren't good enough, but that to be truely considered world class you have to do it when in matters, like Messi does, like Xavi & Inisesta do. Name me a time when an England player has been because i cant, apart from Rooney in 2004. When have our "world class player" in the current squad and you can include Beckham in this, as he would have been there but for injury, (i'll give you v Greece in 2001 (?) but that wasn't at the finals) turned in a top notch performance when it really mattered?

WTF are you on about? its ridiculous to say that a third tier Enlgish football team could beat a top international team. My point about those listed being overrated is relative, as per the comment about "on he big stage"- when was the last time a third division footballer played for England on the big stage you goon. Those i listed are all described as world class players yet have never performed when it matters for England, or do you think they have, if so when? Got a bit of a soft spot for D&R as New Years day 2004 myself and a few others in our boredom decided to take in Aldershot v D&R which was then a conference fixture with D&R a midtable side and Saints top half of the premier league. We stood in the sparsely populated away end, probably no more than 100 fans although if i remember rightly a decent crowd for a conference game of about 4k. Quite enjoyed the day and have loosely followed their progress ever since. Chuffed they got promoted but if someone had said to me that day we will meet in the league in 7 seasons time you'd have ****ed yourself, as they say, its a funny old game.

In 98 Owen wasn't, Sheringham and Shearer were the front two in the run up and Owen was an 18 year old up and coming who the publc were urging Hoddle to pick ahead of Sheringham. Agreed though, at that time Le Tiss wasn't play at his best and shouldnt have been in the side ahead of Scholes, Owen, Sheringham but as a squad player to bring on for the last two minutes when you need a bit of magic he would have fitted the bill.

I think you might be right there, great player and an okay manager but as a man a complete *****. I remember rumours when he was England manager of him belittling players, including Beckham at training and also at his various clubs he would do things on the training ground to prove to he players that he thought he was better than them. I remember talking to Gary Monk and Paul Hughes in the Rhino one night and they were saying how much he thought of himself. Didn't someone once nickname him Chocolate? Apparantly because if he could he would eat himself.

i was at the game against Italy when Matt got slated by the press and even with SFC tinted glasses on, felt that it was very unfair, on another night he'd have scored a couple and been a hero, that was the end for him as an England player IMO. That Russia game, he was superb, scored a a hattrick, hit the woodwork twice and was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch, even just to have had him on the bench would have been worthwhile, the way his international career panned out was such a shame and totally Englands loss.
