F*ck i cant be bothered to debate this anymore, you're all f*cking right, rather than looking at signing decent players better than we have and improving the squad lets just sign loads of squad players worse than what we have on long contracts to act as cover players so in three years time we've got 30 league one players playing in the Championship earning £5k-£7k a week and we can all slag them off as being sh*t and wonder why we are a stuggling championship side and not in the premier league. -

As i've said numerous times and getting bored with repeating myself, if no one leaves we are good enough for promotion with what we have, if player do then we need to look at it and act. No one knows the extent of Lallanas injury yet but everyone is panicing that we are going to go on a slump without him, same with Chaplow. For all we know they might be back saturday or they might be out all season. Again no one knows Barnards situation, although i am sure NA will have taken advice of his legal team and be aware of potential sentances and court dates, believe it or not people dont get charged one day and sentanced the next, it can take months to bring a trial to crown court, if indeed it goes that far. NA and NC know what they are doing if we have season long injuries and people being banged up then for years then then obviously signings or loans will need to come in and i'd expect NA to act on this, but we dont know and there is no point buying "cover" players if Lallana is going to be back in two or three weeks and Barnard does even face trial until july. Some people just bang on and on that we need cover here there and everywhere and are speculating on what ifs and worst case senarios, demanding like for like cover players without actually thinking of the bigger picture and what the club is trying to achieve. Maybe, just maybe we have made "substancial bids" because the manager wants players better than what we have, not just bench warmers incase of injuries. So to put it in very simple terms to spell it out for some in bullet points. * If no one leaves or gets crocked for the season the squad is good enough for promotion * If players do leave or get crocked for the season i would expect suitable replacements to be purchased * If no one leaves or gets crocked for the season i would be delighted if we signed two or three players of the quality to improve the first team squad for more options and depth, ie Charlie Austin and Ryan Harley * if no one leaves or gets crocked for the season i do not see the point in buying players to sit on the bench in case of injuries, because the type of player that will be happy to do this will either be 1/worse than what we have already 2/not the type of mentality you need for a title winning side. I will cavet this though with if we sign a very promising young player similar to Aaron Martin who is happy to be part of the squad and a prospect for the future then that is fine. -

and according to some we are destined to fail unless we have 5 world class players sitting around as cover for every position. -
Got 3 terrace ticket for Exter today and also 2 for Peterborough, not sure how many we got to that one.

There was no queue whatsoever when i went down there at lunchtime, 4 windows open with only two people being served. I said to the guy serving me i thought i'd be queuing for ages, he said it had been very quiet, which was a surprise. Apprantly there are 9,000 left.

This is where a lot of people are blinkered on here and just look for like for like replacements. If you are talking playing 4-4-2 then no player better than Lallana is going to joining us so yes Harley would drop to the bench in that circumstance, this is if he was signed purely as a left midfield player. But a player of his ability gives us other options other than 4-4-2, he and Lallana could fit into a 5 man midfield with AOC, plus two of of MS RC or DH giving us a very creative and attacking 4-5-1, or also in a 4-3-3 as wide attacking player, or in a 4-4-2 there is no reason why he couldn't play on the right, left or centre with Lallana also in the side. That is the whole point of a smaller squad of quality players, options, variaious formations, players rotated to suit the opposition and also keep them fresh and motivated. I'd much rather this than just like for like cover, providing poorer options of what they are filling in for, thus making the team poorer by default. This is what people will get if them simply demand like for like cover players which some on here are doing, as no player worth having is going to be happy to sit on the bench waiting for someone to get injured. And to answer your question on Forecast & Pulis i dont know what the hell they are doing here in the first place and shouldn't get anywhere near the squad. -

COVER COVER FU*CKING COVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont understand why it is such a difficult concept for people to understand, a squad of 22-24 good players is going to be more successful than a squad of 11 good players and 24 average ones. We do not need players to "Cover" for injuries and supsensions. What sort of player is going to join a league one squad and sit on the bench? No one any better than Gobern, Martin and Conolly that is for sure. We need good players, as good as or better than we have to improve the first team and squad and capable of allowing us to adapt formations, tactics and team depending on oppostion & conditions. Not f*cking COVER players to sit on their arse until one of the first XI are injured or suspended. -
Why does this matter? he is a big boy and i am sure he is capable of moving away from home for £10k a week. It'll come down to who he thinks is the best club and offers him the best deal.
-
It is no surprise that his best performances for us this and last season (apart from his first few games) came away from home. Isn't Adkins a psychology graduate or something? If anyone can sort out JP it is him.

Which is exactly my point. We need players good enough to go straight into the first team and fight for a place and be used in a rotation system. A lot seem to bang on about cover players incase of injuries, suspensions etc. ONes to sit on the bench collecting a wage, i dont know what sort of player people think will join a league one club to do that but they sure as well wont be better than Martin, Buttefield, Connolly, Gobern etc. Chaplow is a classic example of a player coming here to inprove the standard of the squad and first XI. My line of thining is to have a squad of 22-24 good players and I've said numerous times that players better than we have are welcome, if we can sign Charlie Austin and Ryan Harley, brilliant, they would improve the first 11 and the standard of the squad, but signing "cover"or "squad" players, which will undoubtedly be worse or at best no better than what we have to sit around in case of injuries is not the answer. You end up with a massive squad full of average, unmotivated players and we all know where that has got us before. -

It is a case of getting the balance right, as i've said many many times, a couple of top quality additions would be more than welcome, but signing players no better than what we have and in reality likely to be worse just to act as cover is pointless. What sort of player is going to come here as "cover" for Lallanas injury for example? knowing they'll play for 6 weeks then might not play again this season? What we need are good players which enable us to change formations and systems to suit the match, opposition and conditions. People are slating Gobern, he is our 4th choice central midfielder, is a better player going to join us knowing they will hardly kick a ball for the rest of the season? In fact if someone is happy to come here and sit on the bench you have to question if you'd want them as part of your squad in the first place. There is a big difference between being a good player used as part of a squad and a player being signed as back up to the first team. -
I wouldnt be at all surprised, Howe is a big fan and i can see him going there.
-
It isn't, we missed four good chances and had one cleared off the line, quite how the stats say 0 shots on target is strange when we had one off the line which the players and half the crowd thought went over it.

I agree, the ideal model for the five year plan to get back to the premier league, which has 3.5 years left, is to have a squad of 40 players, a league one level squad full of back up players on 3-4 year contracts, all drawng £5k-£7k a week but not good enough to play at championship level, in fact most of them will hardly play anyway as they will only be back up or cover players incase of injuries or suspensions to our first XI. THis is much better plan than than 22-24 good players, good enough to play in the championship and above on £7-10k a week. I've seen this model somewhere before and it worked brilliantly, that team got relegated twice in four years and went into admistration, i think we should do it again. -

Notts County won away at Sunderland in the FAC cup two weeks ago, they are no mugs. As you say, maybe they played above themselves and we were definitely below par. That said though we still missed 3 or 4 good chances and should have won. We wont win every game FFS. -

Connolly isn't injured is he? He has been on the bench a fair bit lately. -
mine has started to have a fault where on songs sometimes it'll pause for about 1 second or so then start again, on one song it does it at exactly 1 min 22 secs in, i played the song five times in a row to check it and it stopped at the same point every time, then started again after about a second. Anyone suggest what the problem is or where i can get it fixed?

Lazy, fat, too slow, over rated, if MLT played these days in the internet generation he'd be slagged off every week. People forget he wasn't brilliant for 90 minutes week in week out which you need to be to be accepted on here.

Okay then so past form isn't a good rule of thumb to base the future on? So obviously with Man Utd being top and unbeaten in the Premier league this season it would be ridiculous to suggest they might win the league because West Ham might go on and win every game for the rest of the season and pip them to the title. Under NA we have won 14 and drawn 4 of our 21 games, in this time we have had injuries and suspensions to key players and we will again. Given his record so far i completely have faith in him to keep this record going. -

everyone knows he will be/has been missed, no one will despute this, but we are not a one man team. We are lucky to have Lallana in our current position, he should be playing in the Championship at least and is head and shoulders the best player in this league. But other teams manage to score goals without the best player in the league, why should be be any different? I trust NA to come up with a play to get the best out of the players playing without him, he got S****horpe promoted twice with a team worse than we have and without a player of Lallanas ability. -
or maybe she doesn't love you and your cock doesn't touch the sides anymore now she is getting it up the arse from someone else?
