I might be imagining things here but I seem to remember back in the Dell days there was a player that would go round the four sides of the ground thanking the crowd. I know Prutton did it at St.Mary's but this was at the Dell. As I say, I might be imagining it but if not, who was it?
  5. Ooh yeah, I was at that one too. Must've been about 15 yards away from Mark Wright when he broke his leg! We all heard it crack. Edit: it was 85/86 actually.
  6. Yes I remember that, and I went to that too, despite how gutted I was over the cup defeat. I just had to see if we could get some kind of revenge.
  7. I was there that day as a young 14 yr old and it hurt in more ways than one. I was in agony cos I'd been on my tiptoes the whole game. My back was killing me. And of course, the result was a killer. I hated Adrian Heath and everton.
  8. Good question. I hated it when it came out. It's just not Saints. Having said that, now that I've watched all 3 league games so far, I have gotten used to it. Doesn't mean I like it though.
  9. Gary is a player that everyone (other than Man U fans) loved to hate. I put this down, mainly, to his outspoken passion and single minded focus on doing his best for his club no matter what, which could come across as a f.uck you attitude. He didn't care whether he was liked or not. All he cared about was that red jersey. Most that hated him, of course, didn't know him, but now, as a pundit and co commentator, people are realising what a great pro he is. Intelligent and articulate about the game he loves. I think I will buy his book.
  10. Yes, Gary Neville has been great for Sky. It's post match analysis on MNF is brilliant. Good to have a pro from the modern, prem era covering these games. He knows the game and the players.
  11. Thanks, but Kraken made a general point about the perception made in the OP about the correlation of distance covered equaling great player: I didn't read Kraken's post as an implication that MS is a 'headless chicken'. We know that there is more to his game than that. Of course there is, but just cos he's top of that particular stat proves nothing other than his fitness/stamina to be able to cover that distance. I'm sure most prem midfielders are also able to do so, but I'm sure they'd prefer to keep possession and let the ball do the work a bit more but as I say, given the opponents in 2 of the 3 games its an understandable statistic.
  12. That's rubbish, he doesn't even mention MS. I see Kraken's point exactly. I was gonna say the same myself, but decided to take into account the teams we've played, namely the 2 manchester clubs where we were clearly going to be chasing the ball a little bit more than we'd like.
  13. Considering the fact that we've played the two Manchester clubs this stat is not surprising. However, I'll be happier when we can keep the ball a bit better and chase it a bit less.
  14. He's not gonna play 30 x 90mins
  15. I'm not saying we need him but every position needs a backup and some positions need a backup and another, alternative option. For instance, your team there would have backups like this: Gazza Richardson - Fonte - Seabourne/Stephens - Shaw Cork/Chambers - Chaplow/Davis Guly/Lee/De Ridder - ADP/Lallana - Lee/Mayuka Jrod/Lee/Mayuka So, lots of options, although fewer in defence.

    Zambrotta

Luke shaw would learn a lot more from Zambrotta than Danny Foxitupagain
  17. Why? Because he did a good job for us when he was employed as a player? I don't think saints are indebted to le Tiss in any way. He did not keep saints up on his own. Yes he made a massive contribution but he could not do that without other players around him. Saints current status has much more to do with the Leibherr's and Cortese than to le Tiss.
  18. When he's says cost too much, I'd say it's more about wages than fee.
  19. They're Matt le tiss' seats.
  20. For me, the GR signing is all about pulling power (of course, he has a great reputation too) and if getting a player of his calibre and reputation to sign for little ol' Saints sees us become more attractive to other players of that ilk then it will prove to be a shrewd signing, and that's without what he does on the pitch. Yes we need to strengthen at CB and LB, but perhaps we had high profile targets that didn't find us appealing, despite the DVD, and they perhaps doubted our ability to sign GR themselves. Hopefully, yoshida can step in and provide a much needed improvement in the centre of defence. I'd also like to see Luke Shaw fast tracked to the first 11. Good enough. Old enough.
  21. I noticed matt's negativity on sky before the game and posted about it in the 'sack Adkins get redknapp' thread, and this was before any of this twitter stuff, so yeah he needs to shut the feck up. I'd rather he wasn't commenting on saints games. This club would be royally fecked if pinnacle and MLT had been successful in their bid.
  22. We're talking about out of contract players here, no transfer involved, no loan.
  23. And here http://www.thepfa.com/transferlist/listedplayers/sortbydate/lb/outofcontract/1/
  24. What if he gave his ticket to Harry?
  25. Paul Robinson ex Bolton. I only mention cos he's a left back/centre back.
