  1. Erm, not sure last season was a freak... Spurs got 72 points in 2012-13 and finished 5th
  2. Whilst many might say that we've been lucky with an 'easy' run of fixtures, it could be argued conversely that we've been unlucky not to play more of the big boys whilst they're struggling to find form and we're playing well. I would have fancied our chances against an early season Man City, Man United, Everton and Arsenal. They may all have started to turn the corner by the time we face them.
  3. There's a little piece in this article on the beeb about Malcolm Frame (our sports psychologist) and the importance of developing the emotional intelligence of young players. Seems to be working - we do seem to produce well rounded individuals. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29647841 Oh, and Simon Clifford is mentioned as well....
  4. I think the left back he's referring to is Ben Cull. Not yet a full time scholar but he has played for England U16s.
  5. Osvaldo's scored a cracker for Inter tonight: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2209920-dani-osvaldo-scores-terrific-scissor-kick-volley-for-inter-milan?
  6. 3-0. Not a good night for Lovren.
  7. According to the Sky reporter at tonight's game (who says he's spoken to the Saints camp) we've had no bids from Liverpool since the last one three weeks ago that was way below our valuation.
  8. Good write up on him here - particularly how highly-rated he was as a youngster: http://theinsideleft.com/graziano-pelle/
  9. Schneiderlin to Spurs? https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.le10sport.com%2Ffootball%2Fmercato%2Fexclu-mercato-schneiderlin-en-contact-avance-avec-tottenham155575&edit-text=
  10. @MurrayGroves: Burnley have allowed both Newcastle United and Southampton to speak with Danny Ings after clubs matched #clarets valuation #nufc #saintsfc
  11. Shame we're not with Nike. They've produced a great kit for Monaco: http://www.footballshirtculture.com/14/15-Kits/as-monaco-2014-2015-nike-home-football-shirt-kit.html

  14. Josh Sims starts for England u17s today at 4pm. Live on Youtube:
  15. Yoshida was excellent tonight. I'm not his biggest fan but his last two performances have been top drawer. Was great in the air tonight and looks like he's starting to bully opposition strikers.
  16. All done. Best of luck with getting rid of SISU.
  17. Was going to post the same. His lack of pace led to his poor positioning - such a shame as other parts of his game were very good. He had a fantastic delivery on him and played a massive role in us finishing second in the Chamionship with the number of assists he made. The Premiership was a step too far for him though - certainly no disgrace in that.
  18. Is it just me or is it distasteful to use phrases such as supporters being 'burnt' and false alarms almost immediately after talking about installing sprinkler systems in their wooden stands. Do they have a sub-editor at the News?
  19. Lambert has had an absolute shocker
  20. We give away an incredible amount of soft goals...
  21. Freakish result in many respects (3 shots on target for Villa, 3 goals) but we were the architects of our own downfall. We played well, dominated possession, created good chances but made catastrophic mistakes at the back. This was the Saints we saw for the large part of last season - playing well but not getting the result. It's harsh to criticise Yoshida given the amount of games he played this season but he always seems to have a mistake in him. For all the time during the match he plays well there is always a huge error of judgement just around the corner. His anticipation seems so poor sometimes - miss timing jumps or missing interceptions - too often the ball and the man get past him. Can't agree with the criticism of Cork though - thought he did a good job in the middle of the park.
  22. Indeed. Saw that 'scout report' yesterday - he must turn Match of the Day off after the Arsenal game's been on...
  23. Sounds like a decent goal too: 29 min: A classic Italian counter attack has just broken the deadlock, with the Azzurri ahead through Osvaldo. The Southampton striker did brilliantly to control a lofted through ball over the top. His first touch and shift left Agger trailing, with a measured finish finding the far corner from a tight angle. What a moment for Osvaldo, his fourth international goal!
