  1. No … according to CB Fry we’re loaning them out 🤦🏻‍♂️😂
  2. It doesn’t work for us at all. I fully understand players have far too many of the cards these days and can push things. I also fully expect Lavia will not be with us next year because he’s too good. But it will not be a loan. Your fixation on Man City controlling this is badly skewing your logic here. We are not loaning him out because it doesn’t work for us. It doesn’t work that well for the player either. Man City are not obliged to buy him - if he wants a move he’ll want the shiny new contract that sets him up for life which a loan to Palace doesn’t give him. He is not leaving on loan.
  3. On what planet would we loan out our best prospect and (when JWP is sold) our only decent midfielder? The only way he is not playing for us next season is if he’s sold. And if he’s sold it will be for in excess of the 40 million clause. He probably will be sold, but he absolutely 100% will not be loaned out by us. He’s our player until someone gives us enough money for him not to be.
  4. I’d say you’re pretty delusional if you think all of those 3 are staying! You keep on saying you think JWP will stay - he 100% isn’t. He’s already gone, it’s been sorted for a few weeks now. Lavia will probably go, but only for a big fee (CB Fry above thinks we’ll loan him out - wtaf??? 😂😂😂) Alcaraz will likely stay. But, I repeat, JWP is gone and it’s done

    Adam Armstrong

I think there’s a player in there somewhere at that level. Unfortunately his confidence is shot and I think as well as dropping a level he also needs a complete change of scenery. I think our coaching/playing style is pretty culpable in his regression and loss of form/confidence. I think that applies to quite a few of our squad unfortunately. I think it’s too far gone for Adam here for it to be worthwhile persevering but obviously that’s just my opinion
  6. We’re not going. We’re not offering tickets on the exchange as I don’t want scousers going in my place. I think a half time walk out for anyone that does go would be great - have all the clever leaders emerge from their corporate snack and sparkling drink to an empty stadium, not to mention the gutless group of gormless gits playing for us. Wont happen, obviously. A few thousand will even clap them 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’d spare the kids. Send them on an early holiday and force the losers into one final public embarrassment. The people most in need of spending 90 minutes chasing shadows are IMHO (it’s a tough call in some cases with multiple options to be fair …): McCarthy Lyanco ABK Salisu KWP Eli JWP AMN Aribo Armstrong Mara
  7. Well, let’s be honest it’s a risk. He might be great, but his record doesn’t demonstrate success - improvement, yes; success, no. Hes not a name that will help in the transfer market. His football philosophy might help us build a ‘style’ or ‘identity’ and I’m fine with possession based football but I’ve been bored senseless for the last 6/7 seasons by a combination of turgid football and depressing results. I’m not convinced this will drastically change either of those. And my final comment is that the real issue in the squad now is mentality. We have a squad full of losers, mentally ruined and fragile. Many will not be here but those remaining need fixing pretty damn quickly. This needs a strong character and personality and I’m not convinced Martin is that person. So overall I’m very underwhelmed. It could be the start of something great and as ever I really hope it is. The one positive is that it appears we’ve acted early and decisively which means plenty of time for him to get to grips with the task in hand. But this is the single most important job at the club, and I am worried we’ve taken another gamble by trying to be clever and hip. That hasn’t gone well with our managerial decisions or indeed recruitment since SR took over so far … hope this time we fair a lot better but not hugely confident right now to be honest
  8. His house has been on the market for weeks. So not sure about how “settled “ he is
  9. Why would we deal with Fenerbahce when we’re already a feeder club to Goztepe in Turkey?
  10. Random thoughts … I don’t want Rafa. I’ve spent 6 years being thoroughly depressed at St Mary’s and am not even remotely enthused by the prospect of his football. I doubt he’d want the gig either. I do want Potter, I think he’d be a great fit. I think he’ll have better offers. I would quite like Cooper if Forest are nuts enough to get rid. I’m not sure he’s an SR type appointment. I wouldn’t mind Vieira and can see that happening with the Wilcox link. I don’t fancy Rodgers - think he’s a good coach with good football but also just thoroughly dislike the arrogant pr1ck I think Gerrard is a bad idea - without his number 2 he’s clueless. I don’t want Rooney - appearance and intellect of a baboon. Id rather not go for a hipster barista type appointment like Martin or Schumacher because I’m already scared sh1tless enough by SR without them trying to do something hip and radical with the managerial appointment for a third time (fourth of you include keeping Ralph but changing all his coaches). I am aware we could, however, unearth the next Jurgen Klopp doing this. I don’t fancy the risk. And finally, above all else, at the fifth transfer window of asking, I’d like us to sign a vaguely competent striker.
  11. Let’s just pick an 11 and be done with it. Baz (I fear we’ve broken him - not his fault he’s not ready but … nowhere near ready) AMN left back Lyanco and ? for cb? DCC for being a card waiting to happen? Salisu for a stinking attitude? Remarkably “Janny B” isn’t in. KWP at rb? Not our worst but compared to his high standards he’s had a dreadful season Diallo and Aribo in midfield Eli and either Djenepo or Stu (for Stu re KWP above) ArmA and probably Che. Again, there’s worse than Che but some of his misses this season make Shane along look like a lethal finisher. Mara as a non impact sub deserves a special mention. Maybe orsic as an unused, unknown, invisible sub. Fuck me just thinking about these pr1cks as I write this makes me depressed.
  12. Not especially. He will be for sure (or at least has the potential to be) but right now he’s nothing special, injury prone and probably not the sort of player we’ll need for a season of 50+ games in the championship. In an ideal world I’d quite like to keep him but ideally I wouldn’t be watching us get relegated tomorrow either. This would appear a reasonable deal for all parties IMHO
  13. This forum is a much better place without MLG but very occasionally there comes along a thread that’s crying out for his input …
  14. I think we’re all being very unfair and entitled. Nothing wrong with being served that up for 7 years. Nothing at all.
  15. Dreadful record. And the only time we’ve been good in that period was when the stadium was shut. No wonder I’m so f*cking miserable.
  16. Leicester won the league with longer odds. Believe!!!
  17. Like others, different type of pain. In a way it’s a relief - I go to most home games and quite frankly it’s been a largely miserable experience since we appointed Puel; firstly just the football but since then also the results followed latterly but the complete lack of desire from players and tactical competence by increasingly dreadful managers. I don’t forget how increasingly miserable the championship also became last time around so am not sugar coating that memory, but I think the era from league one through to to Koeman was my favourite ever spell as a fan. Going to games with optimism, likeable and committed players, and some exciting football to watch - I think that’s what we crave. We even won a trophy at Wembley!! We’re never going to be “successful” in the premier league so while I’d like us to get back I’m more focused on the enjoyment. Easier now I’m older and have the experience of a stint outside the premier league to give me some perspective but if we can build a likeable, committed team and win some games playing a type of football that actually tries to win games, I don’t think it’ll be half as depressing as the last 5 years or so.
  18. He takes every corner and free kick.
  19. 9 matches ago? Would that be about the time he arranged his transfer and put his house on the market?
  20. Given our performances against league 1 Lincoln and Sheff We’d, and league 2 Grimsby, I’d be amazed if we avoided relegation!

    Protests

Bumping this seeing as we’re effectively down and have 2 home games left. Given the apathy and despondency of the home crowd I don’t see any sort of protest being supported energetically so wonder if there’s appetite for simply not turning up to the next 2 games? People have suggested nothing will speak more to the board than an empty stadium. Of course, with football tourism I imagine it’d result in a load of away fans turning up (certainly Liverpool) instead but I’m not sure Rasmus, Semmens etc quite ‘get it’ about what a cluster f*** they’ve made - even now - so a very visible signpost might help? Probably pointless, know … just thoroughly depressed and in need of an outlet I guess 😞
  22. Fair play to anyone who’s going! It’s likely to be horrible. Difficult to know who to pick - I’d probably select our most gutless, useless and/ or can’t be arsed/downed tools players as punishment (except Bazunu who I think we’ve damaged enough). so I’m hoping for McCarthy AMN DCC Salisu KWP Moi JWP Diallo Aribo ArnA Mara Quite frankly the way Selles picks teams there’s a reasonable chance most of them will play anyway. Which pretty much says it all.
  23. I don’t want to undermine my opinion with hyperbole - so having witnessed Forest, Wolves, Grimsby etc I won’t exaggerate and say that’s our worst performance this season. But the tactics here and the last 20 mins or so v palace have been some of the most brainless, and quite frankly chicken Sh1t I’ve seen. Let’s not go down fighting, let’s go down not even attempting to win a football game. Dreadful tactics and motivation irrespective of the horrendous recruitment that got us here. Selles needs to go. A lot of players need to go too. Gutless, clueless and not a pair of bollocks amongst them
  24. Happy to be proved wrong but this smacks of us playing how we did v Arsenal. Unfortunately v Arsenal they attacked leaving gaps. Here the onus is on us to create. That team will create f*** all. Wrong team for this type of game yet again. Wrong bench too. Aribo?? no Paul??? We’ll need him when desperate for goals late on and need to lump it in the box. Oh, hang on, we don’t even do that when 2 down with seconds left. My bad, let Ely help us keep it tight … So hope I’m wrong and get quoted later as a needless bedwetter before we’ve started but f*** me he’s a clueless moron.

    Ruben Selles

Exactly this. Plus what if we’d conceded immediately after the break? Plan down the drain and now you’ve lost our best player and the flexibility of using him for further tactical changes. Kudos on going to the back 5 but Armstrong was the right player to go off. He had no energy and no more pace than Charlie. I’d have stuck Charlie up top. The subbing of Lavia, however, was criminal. What was the point in that? Stick Diallo on a flank to replace the exhausted (and pointless) Moi, but Lavia and JWP had shut down the centre of their attacking midfield for 43 minutes and didn’t look overly tired. We’re not playing again until Thursday. What was 5 minutes extra rest going to accomplish? I’d struggle to conceive of a worse substitution at that point. On a wider level, the game also taught us little we don’t already know. We’ve been coached for years to press high. When we get it right we’re good. But the tactic is only relevant when we’re playing a stronger side who will take on the challenge and attack us. All our good performances for years have been in this scenario. What we can’t do (and this game, or the ones v Chelsea, United or City don’t alter) is break down anyone. At all. Ever. Not even Grimsby. Unfortunately the majority of games in the league will require us to do this. We can’t, so we lose most, so we’re getting relegated. Selles to me seems obsessed with playing in this manner and until we see something different in those type of games I fear our fate will remain the same. Probably starting on Thursday. I really, really, desperately hope to be proved wrong for the club’s sake, but think it very unlikely. Selles’ obsess with this tactic worries me now, and really concerns me for next season when everyone will sit in against us.
