  1. Probably not. As I've said before, this is a forum and everybody is entitled to their opinion.
  2. Exactly! We've sent out completely the wrong message to players and fans. Having been through all this **** when RL was in charge you'd have thought that people at the club wouldn't want to make the same mistakes. As it stands, history looks like it could well repeat itself. Strachan got his coat because Lowe refused to invest and take the club to the next level. He wanted to do it on the cheap with home grown players. This lot have just sold, sold, sold and replaced on the cheap. The more recent players who've come through the ranks and shown any sign of quality are sold almost immediately. I look at the current youngsters and don't see anyone in the same class as, Walcott, Bale, Ox, Shaw, Lallana, or even Chambers which is slightly worrying. What happened to the statement the club made about playing regular European football with a team of homegrown talent??? It's all a bit sad really.
  3. I'm not convinced VvD is coming to Saints at all. If he was and we were really that keen, why has the deal not been concluded? Surely it would make more sense to get it signed, sealed and delivered before the madness of deadline day? Am I the only one who thinks Les Reed is full of ****? "We're working very hard. I'm confident we'll get it sorted" Blah, Blah, Blah. I'm glad you're confident, Les, beacuse nobody else seems to be. I seem to recall that it was RK that ended up getting a couple of last season's transfers over the line and people on here were singing his praises and asking why Les even had a job with Saints.
  4. I could see some kind of last minute deal where Vic goes to Spuds and we end up getting Townsend and Fazio.
  5. I wondered the same thing. Koulibali looks set for Norwich of all places. I'm actually beginning to wonder why VvD would come to Saints? In fact, why would anybody want to come to Saints? We pay lower wages than every other Premiership club and sell our best players. We're not exactly sending out a positive message at the moment. Most players would be looking at us and thinking 'there's a club on a slippery slope'.
  6. All of those players 'could' have gone. By the same token, the club 'could' have made them better offers that would have kept them at the club and shown our intent on moving forwards.
  7. Without a doubt. A wasted opportunity. Something needs to change as this currently feels very similar to 2004 after Strachan left. It's like the Rupert Lowe era all over again. All I can think is that all the talk from the board about playing regular European football was just a load of hot air. As I've said before. Clubs who make it into Europe don't sell off their best players and try and replace on the cheap. It's not a business model that works. We need to focus on staying up. That £10 I've got on RK not lasting the season at 50-1 looks like a very good bet.
  8. I just don't rate him.
  9. I'm having money on RK walking before the end of the season. 50-1 is the best odds I've got so far. Most are offering 20-1.
  10. Horrible racist bastards!!! http://www.skysports.com/football/news/12040/9968000/hampshire-police-investigate-fratton-park-chanting-claims
  11. Fine, but we need some f'ing defenders and another defensive midfielder.
  12. Well I hope the club get this one over the line as it looks like the other player we were linked with, Koulibali, is off to Norwich!!! Makes you wonder if we were ever in for him? If so, it's worrying that we're losing out on players to the likes of Norwich.
  13. Stop trying to do things on the cheap. Pay the same money that our rivals seem prepared to pay and bring in quality players that will show our intent to progress. There's surely nothing worse than seeing your team mates leaving and being replaced by mediocrity. That's probably half the problem with Vic. He sees who's gone and looks and who's come in and thinks 'WTF'. How is this progression?
  14. I totally agree & it was nice to hear Big Sam say what a lot of us are thinking. "You can't keep selling the best players & try to replace on the cheap. It's not good for the club or the fans." We'll just have to wait & see if tge club are true to their word. Out of interest, having watched our performances so far, how many of those who called myself and others bed wetters for saying we wouldn't finish top 10 still think we'll be up there? I stil don't think we've got a cat in hells chance. We're this year's Hull City. Personally, I don't even think Koeman will last the season.
  15. What amazes me if Koeman's reluctance to substitute Pelle. If we played all night he'd probably be the only player than Koeman didn't sub. I just don't get it. He'll replace the supporting front players but rarely Pelle. I could understand this is he was a prolific goalscorer but he isn't. I'd much rather see Juanmi & Jay Rod or Mane & Jay Rod as a front pairing.
  16. What a load of ****. He's hardly likely to say 'I'm not confident'. Next thing he'll be saying is, 'Time wasn't on our side, we worked hard but couldn't get 'it' across the line'. The man really doesn't inspire confidence at all. Get RK on the case. He seems to have more influence when it comes to persuading players to come onboard.
  17. He needs to start at LB on Sunday.
  18. I don't understand this insistence on starting Pelle every game and then never substituting him. I'd like to see Juanmi and Jay Rod starting up front. Failing that I'd like to see Pelle subbed and somebody who can give us something different brought on.
  19. I honestly don't understand all the hatred towards Alpine. He's entitled to his opinion and I have to say, I agree with a lot of what he says. How many clubs qualify for Europe and then flog off their best players for a second year running? Surely the idea of qualifying for European football is to show your better players that the club has real ambition. Show them intent by bringing in better players who will help to take things forward. Not Saints. They just sell & try & replace on the cheap. As a fan it's extremely disappointing to see.
  20. We've turned into Hull City. At least we can get this Mickey Mouse European football out of the way & focus on trying to stay in the premiership.
  21. I have to say, I feel the same. That Everton performance really knocked me back. Hopefully Romeu will start alongside Vic and Caulker will come in at CB with Yoshida moving to LB, but even that doesn't fill me with confidence.
  22. They're panicking after Toby's f*** up last weekend and him saying that part of the reason he did so well last season was because he has Morgan and Vic protecting him. ;-)
  23. I don't dislike Pelle, but his finishing is questionable. I'd be more than happy to see him move on and us bring Austin in, but I don't think it'll happen. Being completely honest, I'd have rather seen Rickie come back and Pelle go.
  24. I agree that we should learn how to say no, but out of interest, how much of a disaster would it be if we were to sell? I think the loss of MS was a far bigger blow. We might be able to negotiate a deal where we get a couple of decent players in exchange (permanently, not on loan) and who's to say that Juanmi wouldn't be able to step into Mane's role? Let's not forget, there were times last season where people were seriously questioning Mane's ability. Even RK admitted that he had a dilemma on a couple of occasions where he was torn as to whether he should play Long or Mane. As I said before, I'm not saying we should sell. I just think this whole thing makes a very interesting topic for discussion.
  25. Couldn't agree more!
