  1. Here's the other shirts I was given.
  2. Here's my 2 Centenary shirts. I've had the home one since '85 and as you can see, the sponsorship is long gone. The away shirt came to me after SCW left the club. They had a huge clear out at the training ground and there were black bin bags full of old shirts. I got this one and several of the white & green Hummel away shirts from the late 80's.
  3. He was offered a contract that would have doubled his wages. He turned it down because he wanted to play football and he felt he'd get more of a chance to do that at Swansea than at Saints. The deal he got at Swansea is actually worse than what we offered, but he wanted to play football. You can't blame the lad for that. Some players would have taken the money and sat on the bench.
  4. I've got every shirt since 1976 with the exception of the usual 4 which were never available to the public.
  5. I just don't understand why we persist with JWP. I'd have rather seen Davis playing that role and Romeu coming in to the starting 11. I totally agree with you about, Long & Juanmi. Players like that can change a game.
  6. Didn't we lose there last season? If so, then it's a point gained when you compare like for like fixtures.
  7. I'd be playing him at LB instead of Targett.
  8. Play him in the cup game at MK Dons.
  9. Not sure if this has been posted before? Apologies if it has. Merson has rated each club's activity in the transfer market. Here's what he said about ours. SOUTHAMPTON: B- Players in: Steven Caulker (QPR, Loan), Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord), Juanmi (Malaga), Cuco Martina (FC Twente), Oriol Romeu (Chelsea), Cedric Soares (Sporting CP), Maarten Stekelenburg (Fulham, Loan), Virgil van Dijk (Celtic) Players out: Artur Boruc (Bournemouth), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool), Emmanuel Mayuka (Metz), Cody Cropper (MK Dons), Sam Gallagher (MK Dons, Loan), Jos Hooiveld (Released), Dani Osvaldo (Released), Omar Rowe (Released), Morgan Schneiderlin (Manchester United), Jake Sinclair (Released), Jack Stephens (Middlesbrough, Loan), Jordan Turnbull (Swindon, Loan) MERSE SAYS: I'm not sure about Virgil van Dijk at all because he's been playing for Celtic and hasn't had to head a ball. I'm very interested to see what happens with him, but they have kept Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama which is good news. Their start to the season has been a bit disappointing but they've had injuries so I'll give them a B-. ****ing moron!
  10. All these songs with lyrics about Virgil hating Pompey. I could understand it if there was some history but he comes from the Netherlands and probably couldn't give a **** about Pompey. He'd probably not even heard of them until yesterday. Imagine if Shane Long joined Ajax and their fans sang a song about him hating Ado Den Haag. It makes no sense at all.
  11. You seem to be forgetting that what he's done is no different to what Morgan did last year. Did you wish that Morgan had left on deadline day last year? Morgan accepted the club's decision and got on with the job. If Vic is prepared to do the same then why give him ****? Nobody gave Morgan a hard time.
  12. If he's prepared to accept that he's been a bit of an idiot and now wants to knuckle down and get on with the job that he's being paid to do then I don't see the point in booing him. What will that do other than totally un-motivate him? He's a part of the team and if the manager decides to play him then get behind him and the rest of the team.
  13. You 'except' that he never goes to a match???
  14. Same here. Always felt they were very similar to ourselves, particularly when we were still at The Dell.
  15. Why is it nonsense? What makes you so sure??? Who says he would have to play through the middle? Why not play him in a front two with Mane or Juanmi? It gives us something different to Pelle. Let's be honest, Pelle had a good start with Saints but then our rivals quickly worked out what he was all about and he had a terrible run. Jay-Rod's finishing is far better. I'd rather have had Rickie back than Pelle up front.
  16. Not too bothered whether we sell him or not. My concern is that he seems to be the first name on the team sheet every week yet we've got a far better option up front with Jay Rod. Even when we make a change during the game it's never him. I could understand this if he was a major threat but he really isn't. He's just average.
  17. For once I'm inclined to agree with you. Lamela joined spurs for £25.8m. He isn't going to come to Saints as part of a swap deal for Wanyama. Oh, and there's a 'c' in *****.
  18. Gut feeling is that he's done and that he'll be a Spuds player on Tuesday. I guess he couldn't announce how unhappy he was earlier in the transfer window as Spurs hadn't declared their interest at the time. Tosser! The best we can hope for is a couple of players in exchange as we certainly won't have a replacement lined up. Potentially this could also affect VvD's decision to come. I bet the club are kicking themselves for letting Cork go!
  19. The right back we were originally linked with was Trippier. He would've been a far better option then Cedric. At least he had some Premiership experience. I don't know how serious we were. It's irrelevant anyway as Spurs snapped him up.
  20. Everything I post on here is my genuine belief. If people choose to get wound up by my posts then that's their problem.
  21. Probably not. As I've said before, this is a forum and everybody is entitled to their opinion.
  22. Exactly! We've sent out completely the wrong message to players and fans. Having been through all this **** when RL was in charge you'd have thought that people at the club wouldn't want to make the same mistakes. As it stands, history looks like it could well repeat itself. Strachan got his coat because Lowe refused to invest and take the club to the next level. He wanted to do it on the cheap with home grown players. This lot have just sold, sold, sold and replaced on the cheap. The more recent players who've come through the ranks and shown any sign of quality are sold almost immediately. I look at the current youngsters and don't see anyone in the same class as, Walcott, Bale, Ox, Shaw, Lallana, or even Chambers which is slightly worrying. What happened to the statement the club made about playing regular European football with a team of homegrown talent??? It's all a bit sad really.
  23. I'm not convinced VvD is coming to Saints at all. If he was and we were really that keen, why has the deal not been concluded? Surely it would make more sense to get it signed, sealed and delivered before the madness of deadline day? Am I the only one who thinks Les Reed is full of ****? "We're working very hard. I'm confident we'll get it sorted" Blah, Blah, Blah. I'm glad you're confident, Les, beacuse nobody else seems to be. I seem to recall that it was RK that ended up getting a couple of last season's transfers over the line and people on here were singing his praises and asking why Les even had a job with Saints.
  24. I could see some kind of last minute deal where Vic goes to Spuds and we end up getting Townsend and Fazio.
