Then I would have seen that we had decided to appoint Kelvin instead and I would have died laughing...

So I really don't understand your opinion. You agree that you wanted rid of Pellegrino and you are happy that he has been sacked now. You accept that we have a very small list of realistic candidates and you would only be happy with Silva from that list of candidates even though there is a possibility that he was never interested in the position. If that were the case, then it seems you would be unhappy with any other realistic candidate being appointed.
-
It seems? You have no idea!
-
We won't be appointing Ancelotti.
-
Is there anything good we can say about Pellegrino?

Here's an example of what I was talking about earlier. Cloud cuckoo land. No wonder some are outraged at the thought of Hughes if that's who they think we should be appointing.
-
Christ that really does leave us with many realistic options does it! What vastly superior yet realistic options would you want then? Assuming silva turns us down who do we go for?
-
Always seemed like a nice guy but I think he realised he was totally out of his depth. He must have known after Saturday that the end was coming and he can't have any complaints.

I think lots of people have swallowed the club pr about us being special or doing things better than the other lower mid table prem teams. The truth is we have been spoilt during our time in the top league. A series of bad decisions has now left us with limited options near the end of the season and a damaged reputation. It may be in a couple of season we can get back to where we were and be a more attractive proposition again to exciting managers but right now we have to hope there is an experienced manager who will agree to take us on and help us claw our way to safety.
-
Well one of you has to be wrong. If he was just going to reject us he wouldn't be meeting us today.
-
Yes I agree! We should have bloody thought of the future back in November or December but we didn't. We now have to take the best available candidate out of a very small list of people who would actually come here and could possibly give us an immediate upturn in form to keep us in the league. It's really the clubs fault that we have been left with such a small pool (and we don't even know how many of them would actually be interested either) but there we go.
-
I was referring to washsaint and another poster from earlier in the thread. Ridiculous reactions for who is in truth a hit of a meh manager but certainly not someone who would destroy the club like some are making out.
-
What's the choice then? Our options at this time will be extremely limited and people are talking about Rodgers and van gaal. They are deluded.
-
We don't have the luxury to think of the future-- our short term goal is the pressing one which is to stay up. We can debate next season in the summer but if we go down then everything changes.
-
My point is its absolutely ridiculous to be apoplectic about a potential new manager given the situation we are in and the situation. If the choice was staying with pellegrino or getting Hughes then everyone would take Hughes yet some are still going mad about he prospect. Just odd.
-
Definitely different. The kind of comedy that is unfunny.
-
That may be true to a degree but I stand by my view that pochettino could have done more to change a game when things weren't working either with personnel or tactics. Hopefully this will be something that silva is adept at anyway if we end up appointing him (probably not, it will be Hughes most likely.)
-
Probably should have stayed with pellegrino then.
-
I don't think it's lazy newspaper copy to say that there were many games where we were crying out for a change of tactics and we seemingly did not have a plan b if plan a wasn't working (some spurs fans I know say similar.) it's not earth shattering to say that some managers have a more fluid and adaptable way of doing things whilst some stick more to a particular philosophy.
-
It's true though Derek is a piece of sh*t. The office is amazing though, and extras was decent so it's not all bad.
-
I'm not sure that's always the case. On of pochettinos downsides is he stuck rigidly to his tactics every game regardless of the opposition which meant we lost or drew some games that we could have won had he been a little cannier.
-
Sorry I didn't pay for the full argument so I can no longer continue!
-
If we wanted less underwhelming candidates and more choice then we should have sacked him in December. We didn't and this is what we are left with so we may as well make the most of it whoever we end up appointing.
-
Hmm. *tries to decipher the hidden meaning...
-
True but he has had a fair bit more success than pellegrino and seems more passionate. I don't think he has a reputation for playing like pellegrino did anyway which will be sweet relief after the last 18 months if nothing else.
