  1. To be fair, it would be slightly less repetitive if the attacks didn't happen so frequently...
  2. I tell you one thing, I'd rather be in new York right now than Maidstone that's for sure.
  3. Ffs...
  4. Yes... Like then
  5. I get a notification on my phone when someone replies to me. I saw a lengthy post from soggy which I assume is another inane diatribe like most of his replies to me. I haven't read it though so could be wrong.
  6. Didn't read any of that. Bore off soggy, go and annoy someone else.
  7. Let's be fair, there are plenty of people from both sides condemning behaviour to a greater degree because it comes from their political opponents. Apologism for sexual assault and harassment is unacceptable regardless of the political affiliation of the accused.
  8. Little Owen Jones typifies the hypocrisy more than most. Actual sexual assault and harassment is a problem within most major political parties and they are all as bad as each other as far as I'm concerned. The fact that people use the opportunity to play politics rather than addressing the issues - rather like corbyn didnover grenfell- is incredibly revealing.
  9. It's a difficult one because suggesting that an initiative like Everyday Sexism is insane and counterproductive to combating actual sexism by trivialising a serious issue will sound to certain ears like you are dismissing legitimate complaints about sexual harassment and assault when this is not the case. Certainly there is an insidious offense taking culture in the west which is extraordinarily divisive but the flip side of that is that more people are coming forward to report actual horrific abuses. Surely there can be some sort of middle ground between labelling every glance or interaction as examples of sexism and the dismissal of legitimate complaints or concerns? I hope so anyway
  10. Personally I'd rather win a cup if that were the choice but each to their own.
  11. All the cliches are coming out again! No one wants us to play like Barcelona, they would like us to be a bit more attacking though and more prepared to take risks. Some may have questioned our formation also considering the players at our disposal. Where we were 7 years ago has no relevance to now, it's just something people say to make them feel better about a string of poor performances. Everyone has acknowledged how much of an achievement it was to get into the Prem and to stay there and it really doesn't need bringing up for the umpteenth time.
  12. No. "To be clear" I am suggesting that if those who were so worn down by our home games both this season and last season- a fair complaint given how much of a slog it has been for me either watching or going to games and I'm not at every home game- decide to go less and are subsequently replaced by fans who are largely there for the occasion or to watch the opposition then it cannot be a good thing. It's a question of priorities and if someone balances the cost of a season ticket and realises that they can no longer justify it given the lack of entertainment and dire football on offer then I would find it hard to criticise them.
  13. That's the attraction of the Premier League but it's still a shame if long term fans and season ticket holders are being put off even if they are currently being replaced by fairweather fans. If we start doing badly again it's the proper fans you want to keep hold of.
  14. It's genuinely a sad state of affairs that you feel this way but I think more are joining you. We have been spoilt over the last few years but the pendulum has swung rather far in the other direction in terms of interest and excitement. Surely the club hierarchy understand how many fans are feeling.
  15. I agree but I doubt that other teams have had the same level of dullness across every game like we have in the league since pretty much January. Sunderland have a good case too mind you.
  16. Sums it up. I've seen almost every game so far, either on tv or live and it's been a real slog at times. I often find my mind wondering to other things and frankly thinking I have better things to do with my time. Haven't felt that way for a number of years, even when we were failing in the championship we had a fair share of excitement. Mind numbing dullness and lack of excitement is for me worse than an exciting failure.
  17. It's about having a vision and a clear sense of purpose and then executing it. Even if they don't communicate that to the fans, you would hope they do so to the relevant people at the club. We have lose our way somewhat of late.
  18. It says something about you that you can get myself and shurlock to unite in agreement.
  19. A lot of bad blood? There was some needle when gus was in charge but I don't think there's been much since.
  20. How fortunate that I bought a lifetime subscription 2 years ago
  21. The Barry gale stuff was funny and original but the whole marketing stuff is getting boring now.
  22. You're the only raving looney that thinks all Muslims are terrorists. Who on this thread thinks that?
  23. Oh absolutely and I believe my wife's Grandad- sadly also deceased now- had a big problem with it but over time had become very fond of my father in law. It's possible that identity politics have had a role in the decline of marriage but I think it's also a product of modern society- we are more connected yet more remote than ever. It's yet another reason to encourage integration between races and religions because we need to overcome the prejudices and fear of the other in order to confront the real problems within certain cultures rather than invented grievances based purely on ignorance- and that's an issue from both sides. Sadly that has been my experience with a number of middle aged Muslim women who are essentially left on their own since they are seen as shameful and without a purpose if they are unmarried after a certain age. I believe the statistics suggest that everyone is generally better off if people marry though regardless of religion or ethnicity and I would hope that this drive to not need anyone else in the modern world is reversed slightly.
  24. Pot calling the kettle black here. Where have you made any attempt to listen to an opposing viewpoint and try and see some common ground? Where have you attempted to make any concessions to see that maybe those who criticise the uniquely high levels of regressive attitudes in Islam may have some semblance of a point? All you ever want to do is shout about problems in other religions or in other areas of life- as if anyone has ever suggested that there aren't other issues that have nothing do with Islam.
  25. Technically she is half Arabic as her mother converted to Islam when she married her Dad. She's English but unfortunately passed away two years ago. My father in law met her at university when he came to study in the 70s but then Saddam took power, killed his parents and he was unable to return to Iraq. He believes he owes Britain everything because he lost everything including his ties and his money in Iraq and the opportunities in Britain allowed him to build a life for himself for which he is extremely grateful. Sadly, my wife has relatives who come from stricter backgrounds such as her cousin who is in her mid thirties and was refused permission to marry the person she loved because her parents did not approve and she will most likely end up childless and living alone rather like my father in law's new wife- an incredibly warm and kind practicing Muslim- who was essentially living the life of a hermit in Brighton because her family were ashamed that she had not married at an earlier age.
