"you'll see him galavanting and skipping over the grass next week." It's always just one more week away...
-
Incorrect. My original post made no mention of Soggy and in fact was made before he had made a reappearance. Wrong again I'm afraid.
-
Agreed. When there's other positions that need strengthening you'd imagine that's a high percentage of our remaining budget.
-
Glad to see you're doing a good job of ignoring the situation by not replying. Or is it do as I say not as I do again... P.S. It was three posts each so your post wasn't even accurate.

Particularly if we don't stay up. We could be rueing that as we may then have to spend more on another keeper next season in the championship.
-
Guess we will see. If he is signed by someone else for a similar value then we will know it was Hoffenheim playing silly buggers. If no one else takes it a punt then we can infer it's a tad more serious than we thought.
-
Yes it's probably the price you have to pay. I can't see us going for it though gi en we could buy Johnstone for 10 on lower wages and own the asset at the end of it. Alternatively someone like steele we'd probably just have to pay the substantially lower wages.
-
They already said medical today abd then announced tonight or tomorrow. Hearing nothing for a few hours doesn't really mean anything.
-
Arsenal looking for 6 million pound loan fee for ramsdale. Along with wages that's pretty obscene. I'd probably rather go for Johnstone if those are the choices but I can see why we are looking at players like steele in terms of value for money.

I enjoyed the relative calm and civility of the past week. Such a shame it's been spoilt again.
-
That shouldn't be our primary consideration.
-
Yes but when you kick the tyres and find a hole in the rubber you're not going to go through with the purchase...
-
We don't have the space in the squad to be honest. Woods, Edwards, THB, Bednarek, Stephens, Taylor. No room for any other centre back.
-
Where's the evidence that we were the ones to decline things?
-
Beyond being relived you didn't top yourself, you really should have treated yourself and everyone else to a fortnight away rather than just the week.
-
This is terrible news. How on earth are we going to shift him now? Might be forced to be a loan with option to buy and cross our fingers that he shows something during that time.
-
I'd have to go and look for them again but I saw a guardian article prior to the election that set out very clearly what the costs were. It had quotes from labour and everything.
-
Sorry I got involved. Carry on.
-
If its true that celtic want 26 million for O'riley you'd have to think there was more than the fee for the reason we aren't going for it. Maybe he has turned us down or prefers elsewhere which is fair enough. I can't see us not going for it and the other dropping 18 million on a 20 year old in a less crucial position.
-
ABK yes but not really with Mara. I'd assume that will be going through shortly it sounded like there was a fair bit of interest with that one.
-
Yes you're right and I wasn't defending GM (not least because he genuinely threatened to sue someone on here and I messaged them at the time to sympathise despite us vehemently disagreeing on here all the time.) Regarding the name calling, that's definitely a charge you could make about the other side too. It's a lazy caricature on both sides to be honest.
-
I think even you could recognise that the predictions were at best exaggerated. It is true that much of the effects were masked by lockdown.
-
It doesn't make that much of a difference if we succeed in selling Alcaraz, ABK and Mara.
-
This was always going to be far more likely once we didn't get him early doors. I'd still like to see us sign an attacking midfielder.
-
He's not wrong though is he. You can think that Brexit was the worst thing to ever happen to this country and despise it whilst also understanding that the predictions made about an instant recession were abject nonsense and laughable. Similarly you can agree with almost everything the Labour government is now doing whilst also recognising that they are playing politics by talking about unexpected black holes in budgets in order to justify tac rises.
