Today we were very very good. West ham did not know what to do with us. Pelle now looking a very good signing. Not one poor performance. Very impressed with ward prowse. If he carries on like today will be another special player. Ramirez must stay. He could be great for us. Very impressed with how we played. That's overlook and today that we have looked excellent and v west brom weren't poor. I am starting to believe.

Great game. We were poor first half. Static and could have gone in at least one down against better quality. Pelle kept going. He's got a big heart, fluffed a few chances but deserved to score. Looked like a great weight off him and he will score on Saturday now. Best moment in a long time was jack cork scoring. Great reaction from him and supporters. Surely we have to sign him up quickly. Ramirez bit on long but if he can get a run and stay uninjured think he could be special. Some great touches tonight. In the end decent match and very good result. Mill wall kept going but lacked the quality to hurt us in the end.

Looked like it to me too. Hope not. I was there when jack cork and pelle scored. What a night!!

So, whats our Uruguayan Superstar's latest sob-story ?
croydonsaint replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Mods, I think the site has been better of late withsout a few of the posters that were ruining the site. Could you get rid of this comedy poster, obviously his posts do not add anything and are designed to get attention, and reaction. So dull. -

Thanks for posting Those were the days His head was never any where else when he was playing for us.

As every one is reacting to the 12 million fee being reported [which if correct does sound on the high side]. I would think that the more likely scenario than us " over paying" is that the fee is being reported inaccurately. From what I see most of the press are lazy and more concerned about creating a reaction than being accurate. Maybe it gets to 12 million if he scores 50 goals a season or something........................

Shane long would be a decent signing. The kind of player that works hard every game. He has always seemed to do well against us. Can't understand the negative comments, think he will win you later over within a few months if he comes.

Not sure what was achieved by going on this program. He had nothing new to say. In a way with the negative agenda almost guaranteed on these types of programs. The little sneery aside reminding listeners he is a hockey coach for instance, he is just feeding the negative spin that is currently out there around SFC. I know we want to hear him, or christ any one speaking about us in some form of positive light but would think he would be better served to stay away until he can come on after, say some very good signings to at least show that the lovely words are indeed more than that. In my mind the time for talking is well past gone. As he says lets judge him on results and how the new team is performing, say in 6 months. Let him come back on then when hopefully he can remind us of the doubters in the close season who would hopefully all be proved wrong...........

Fee agreed with Sunderland for Borini If this goes through could lead to Wickam to us?
-
Fair enough. Where's Guan or that Sydney guy, or Monk when you need them.

All very interesting. Just wondering if any one has any transfer rumours though. Or are they on a different thread now?

Koeman's first Southampton press conference 11/7/14
croydonsaint replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
You may well be right in the end who knows, but if we really decide we will not sell him and then the transfer season is closed......... whats he going to do refuse to play. If this happens he has some manning up to do. Also imagine him in the first game if here, against Liverpool. Now that will be interesting. Surely this match will be televised, so many storys in that match. -
Lovren is totally out of order going so public as he has. I sincerely hope that we do not let him go until we have sourced a good replacement. I think the time has come now for all this to be taken in hand and if he has to stay here until the January window or even next year then tough. He will not like that but I am sure he will survive. I know that players tend to get there way in the end but I think our future survival in the Premier league trumps his personal ambition [or greed].
-
Sadly that is where we are right now it seems. Coupled with the scenario of going for the better and more ambitious players to improve our team that are therefor attractive for the better clubs, some of whom with more immediate CL potential will be more attractive than us.[possibly Tadic and Everton for instance] Seems like if we are not willing to pay slightly over the odds on transfer fees and wages we should scour the world for undiscovered gems that would see us as a great opportunity. [easier said than done of course] I am sure there must be some players out there that have not had their chance but could do a job [like Lambert I guess].

To be fair the spirit of my original post was to speculate at this time where we think we will be at the end of the season. As I pointed out this means a level of speculation as to state of incomings and I guess further outgoings. Therefor your comment to Batman was unnecessary and missing the whole point of the thread.
-
Ok, so with all the threads around transfers in and transfers out and all the hand wringing going on [understandably] it will be interesting to see what every ones consensus is for the season ahead. Do you see us, 1. better league position than last season. 2. top ten 3. struggling but out of the relegation mix 4. Relegation fight but just safe at end of season 5. Relegation Accepting that to judge it now is to make assumptions on players coming in, as I think it is a given that as we are now we would be struggling and quite likely relegated. My prediction is struggling but out of relegation mix.

Lallana completes move to LFC for a fee of around £25m
croydonsaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Look Lallana has been a great player for us over the past 5 years or so. In that time he stuck by us in the bad times when surely he could have left. There has obviously been things going on in the back ground and circumstances have changed. At the same time he has started to see massive opportunities around him to secure his familys future. Yes, he has not handled his exit well, and for us that is annoying but he was one of ours for in football terms, long enough. I think its time to give him a break, it is what it is, hes gone, he mishandled it but come on, its now time to move on. I just wanted to say also that it is a shame that the VMAN feels antagonistic [is that the right word?] to this site. He along with maybe half a dozen others brought some real inside news, which lets face it we all come on here to look for. I was surprised at his negative view of senior management . I am thinking he was alluding to Les Reed? It seems there are a whole load of misunderstandings and personal agendas going on inside SFC. at the moment. What ever is going on I hope it can be seen by KL and it gets sorted.
