Hm, I'm beginning to wonder... With Standard Bank calling in their loan ages ago, with the lawyer saying they have no bank facility and that the money was in HIS account ready to be paid... Plus they only accepted cash for the FA Cup game... I wonder if they even have a bank account at all at the moment?

I think the players could have walked on 1st January after the wages were late for December to start with. They managed to at least delay this happening by saying they'd be paid today. I'd say it was a delaying tactic while they scrabbled around the world looking for a loan to keep the club going for just a little bit longer, in the hope they'd find a real billionaire to take over. They probably paid the other staff out of the matchday income where they were only took cash. Now they're trying another delaying tactic of saying it'll be tomorrow now, and when that doesn't come through, which it won't unless they find some fool to lend them a bit more money, I'd imagine then the players will hand in their 14 day notice. (Unless they already have and we just haven't heard about it yet.)

Not if there aren't already the rules in place to punish them for this in the league, no, not outside of the consequences of what's written in the contract. Remember how much we were kicking up because the Football League decided to punish us when it didn't appear they had any rules in place to punish us, and ended up getting around it by deciding we were essentially the same company, thereby tenuously staying inside their own rules? If there are sanctions they could take but aren't because it'd look bad though, that's a completely different matter.

One other aspect where Saints were better off in the summer was that, while our previous owners might not have had the ability or the money to go about it the right way, they certainly wanted the best for the club. I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks Pompey's current owners don't necessarily have the club's best interests at heart.

I can't help but hope that we've got some signings lined up for Friday to be announced and completely surprise us all.

They haven't gone bust yet because no creditor has called in the debts that they haven't been able to pay yet. Lens suing will probably be the trigger that starts the beginning of the end unfortunately.
