  1. As a tax accountant I would concur. I see no way that AA can properly have disallowed these liabilities in assessing whether HMRC had the required 25%. If the judge disagrees I will be very interested in his detailed reasoning, as I am sure will HMRC. Pompey are banged to rights in my opinion. Get the toaster ready.
  2. Liquidation followed by rebirth and 20 years to get back to L2.
  3. Here http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/pompey-braced-for-showdown-with-taxman-2040763.html
  4. ''The taxman claims to be owed £37m, enough to block the CVA and thwart the club's attempts to escape administration. Pompey say the figure should be £24m. The disparity involves the payment of image rights to the club's foreign players but the administrator, Andrew Andronikou, is so confident of success that he is not cutting short his holiday in Cyprus to attend, allowing his lawyers to do their stuff''' Interesting then, that Northern Cyprus has no formal extradition treaty with the UK. Convenient place to be if the balloon goes up. Just an observation you understand, nothing suggested or implied.
  5. Deferring all judgement until the action starts proper next weekend.
  6. Smokescreen for entire future in doubt I would say. Had toast for breakfast, saving the fruit and the liquidiser for next week.
  7. I think on the bigger issues when there is a big outturn on a topic (as in number of different posters, rather than posts) - it is a very good barometer of the saints fanbase as a whole. I think it is less representative when discussing issues like Teabagging (see the Muppet Show forum).
  8. I wouldn't want to be in the same dressing room as Wotton if I hadn't put in 100%. Worth his place in the squad for that more than anything. Bet he scores against Argyle too.
  9. Juniper Berry was always a good crack on a Friday night. Early eighties.
  10. Wotton is a trier and is one of ours. Lay the **** off him.
  11. If Pompey have permission to proceed with Sonko's registration as has been claimed in some reports, how come he warmed up with the team last night but didn't play? Is all this so they can say to the League 'Aw, go on, he's got his own shirt and car park space already etc etc.'. Cheats.
  12. Got two five day passes for the Gabba - would be good to meet up with a few Saints fans for a beer.
  13. Big plus is no more silly knocks or injuries. Nice win too.
  14. Something for the Pompey fans playing the 'blind optimimism' card to consider. Newport County celebrated promotion to the Conference last season - a City very similar to Portsmouth. They went under in 1989 and have spent the last 21 years getting back to Conference level. Don't for a moment think it can't happen to you. And you deserve it so much more than they did, you CHEATS.
  15. About time too. Really good move by the government, whatever colour they are. Mind you this lot seem to be better than the last lot.
  16. Will depend a lot on not having long term injuries to key players etc. I would take promotion at the end of the day - don't really care about the points total.
  17. Good stuff from AP. Happy with what he has and will add players as and when in the near/medium term. This gives us great consistency and no months of 'gelling'. And the word 'baffled' appears nowhere.
  18. Capello deserves all the flak he gets for leaving behind a player who scored a hat trick in qualifying and taking Emile ****ing Heskey. Also tactically inept throughout the tournament, consistently unable to respond to the calamitous performances as they unfolded before him.
  19. There's at least 4 of us around Redland Bay!! That's Brisbane - and well worth a visit any time of year. Sure December through February can get a bit hot and sticky now and then but mostly it's just glorious. Don't be put off by the summer - further North might be a no no then but Brissie is fine.
  20. Onwards and upwards. Good signing. Steady as she goes, don't want to worry about gelling.
  21. minus 17 if HMRC appeal http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=808689&sec=england&cc=3436&campaign=rss&source=soccernet
  22. He had a good game in almost impossible conditions - missed the dutch corner AND the foul on the Dutch youngster that led to the goal though.
  23. Not a great world cup - very much below average. Lacking in atmosphere and spoiled by too much lateral and defensive play. Seriously, if that's the way football is going people will turn away from it in droves. Fortunately our domestic game has a lot more vibrancy and looking forward very much to the forthcoming season.
  24. Glad that's all over. What a let down. Joke ball, no atmosphere in any of the games, not many goals, some shocking refereeing errors at pivotal moments and a lot of tedious slow play. Won by a team scoring the least goals in World Cup history with a deserved reputation for diving and sooking. Bloody Vuvuzelas and empty seats and the rules exposed by Suarez's save as well. Crock of crap. Blatter is now 74 and has been in charge since 1998 - surely the old buffoon has to go now.
  25. Good game by Webb - apart from maybe not giving the Dutch an obvious corner just before Spain went up the other end and scored - think we'll be hearing a bit more about that one.
