As a damage limitation exercise before Pardew gets the team he wants on the pitch the result is OK.

Pompey are desperate to pick up ex Saints players whenever they can. Class is permanent and Pompey want as much to rub off on them as they can.

Minor frustration. Jaidi would have been a good signing, but at our level there are plenty more fish in the sea. No big deal. Move on. I am sure Pardew has.

Still far too many 'players' hanging around from last season. I am sure Pardew sees this and it will be sorted over the next month or so. You can't polish a turd, and I'm sure Pardew doesn't intend to try. Some of our lot will shortly have to revise their understanding of the term 'flush of youth'.

Thomas was part of last seasons squad. Injury prone as well. Pardew needs to show him the door.

After last season I'm all out of anger right now and just want to look forward with some optimism.

Glad to see Pardew has quickly grasped that we still have a lot of sub standard players to pass through the revolving door. Last season's team/squad was one of the worst in English football - across all 4 divisions. Looking forward to seeing some proper footballers arrive to join up with the handful we already have.

Damn good appointment for a side bottom of the third division. I am not going to say one negative word against him on here before Christmas, and by then hopefully it won't be necessary as we start looking like consolidating somewhere in mid table after overcoming our -10 start. Will take some time for him to get things sorted, given that so much turd is still hanging around from last season. Go Alan.

Another serial underachiever with a **** sloping shoulders attitude off the books. Good riddance. The more of last season's duffers we can get shot of before the season starts the better. Surprised he went to a Championship club. He just isn't good enough at that level.

We need to keep about 4 players from last season. The rest should be cleared out and footballers brought in to replace them. You can't polish a turd.

New Manager first and soon. Then a major clear out - like spending half an hour in the small room after a really big curry. Surely there are any number of non league clubs who will take some of our current squad off our hands? Then we need to sign some footballers and start playing the game in a different way. A way that means we score more goals than we concede, more often.

That'll be 21 of the players from last season then. Get rid of about another 17 and start again and we'll be fine. Can't shed any tears about most of last seasons dross leaving.

That is actually quite a positive statement from Mark Fry. It's about as hard a kick in the ******** as he could legally give to the Pinnacle Consortium. I think salvation lies elsewhere around the corner. Don't switch off the lights just yet. The usual outcome in deals like this is one that maximises the revenue for all concerned - and that solution includes a football club generating turnstile revenue at SMS next season.

So if we go tits up the Football league lose a club, the creditors get sod all and SMS sits empty instead of generating revenue. When is someone at the Football League and Begbies going to wake up and smell the coffee?
