  1. Glad I wasn't the only one to spot that one
  2. Opened in 1994. It originally only had 3 stands, but they built the 4th stand in 1997.
  3. Latest update: I'm expecting to have all of the copies back in a couple of days, and will post them straight away.
  4. What time are you going, Jan?
  5. Serious question: how many season tickets have been sold at FP for this season?
  6. The main problem with Taylor is that Sky also happen to be one of his sponsors, so hardly anyone else gets a proper mention. Yes, he's the best by a country mile (although there are far more players these days who could beat him on their day), but the saturation coverage and the way the likes of Sid Waddell **** furiously over him when he hits a bog-standard 100 does get bloody irritating.
  7. It varies depending on the player(s) chosen.
  8. You answered your own question there I thought it best not to get involved - I also didn't have a pot to p!ss in last week
  9. Right, entries to this are now closed. We have raised a total of £1340, which is excellent. There is one PayPal payment which was un-named, if you have contributed via PayPal but your name is not on the list, please let me know asap. I'm still waiting for some direct payments to clear, so if you paid directly into our account, your name may not be on the list yet. If that's the case, don't panic I will be creating a temporary sub-forum, access to which will be restricted to those who have contributed. This is simply so that I can easily restrict who gets to vote on which player(s) we sponsor. Watch this space
  10. That's not normally an issue, to be fair
  11. Isn't alcohol similar to petrol in that when there's a duty rise on it, it's a double tax rise as you then pay more VAT on it as well?
  12. Evening all As some of you may or may not know, I run an internet Saints supporters team, who play occasional games against other fans teams during the season. We are playing in a tournament alongside 63 other teams over the course of this coming weekend in Leeds - unfortunately, we've come across a problem; a lack of players due to a combination of factors. If anyone fancies a weekend in Leeds playing football, please get in touch ASAP. There is B&B accommodation available on-site, so you don't need to find a hotel or anything like that. My e-mail address is steve@stevegrant.co.uk Cheers Steve
  13. He was the PR "guru" the executive team of Hone, Hoos and Dulieu appointed... Great.
  14. She's currently pregnant... Matterface is a Chelsea fan, but used to work for The Quay in Portsmouth - he of the famous "get away from those Pompey fans, you scummer!" commentary when Wayne Bridge scored against them
  15. The list should now be up to date, including any online payments made and anything sent through the post. Let me know if you've paid and your username doesn't appear on the list.
  16. There's no way he's paying £60m. He'll be paying a nominal value and assuming control of the remaining debt.
  17. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/football_league/article6721474.ece Sheer mentalism
  18. Because of course 4-4-2 is the only formation that works as an attacking formation in football.
  19. Someone's in for a nasty shock then...
  20. Have ticket, will travel If we sell the initial allocation quickly, I'd expect they'll move all of us behind the goal rather than have to employ stewards for two away sections. It'll almost certainly be unreserved seating anyway.
  21. I have a bit of a feeling that Al-Fahim is essentially willing to gamble that the current set of players plus a few loans/Bosmans will be able to keep the team up this year so they can essentially start from scratch again with NEXT season's Sky money. With the likes of Burnley, Wolves, Hull, etc down there, it's a gamble I'd probably be fairly confident of winning if I was in his position. It also then gives him a year to showcase the club to other investors - perhaps people he's worked with before - to get some genuine cash put in.
  22. My suspicion is a little bit of both of those. As Corp has suggested above, the price Al-Fahim is going to pay to actually acquire the 'assets' (worth somewhere in the region of minus £50m, hence the use of inverted commas) is nominal - probably £1. That's not going to change now (and I suspect has always been the actual purchase price because of the liabilities), so he's making the most of his final moments in control by essentially asset-stripping with the sale of the most valuable players. Obviously it helps in that regard that those players see the stuff going on and want to leave as well. The revenue from that is used to pay off the portions of the loans that are tied personally to Gaydamak, which means they don't need to be renegotiated by whoever takes over - renegotiating could be a problem in the current climate, particularly when there's no obvious pot of gold that's going to ensure a Premier League football club with crowds of 19,500 can repay those sort of amounts while maintaining a competitive team on the pitch.
  23. Flintoff on a 5fer in his last Test at Lord's... who'd have thought it? I'll start relaxing when Johnson's gone.
  24. Clarke gone, advantage England.
