  1. Just happy we are building a good team on solid foundations and odds on we win more games than we lose. Would be nice of course to reach the play offs and we may do even with the 10 point deduction. That said it is a shame we could not have prepared better and sooner but in the overall scheme of things I can certainly live with that. Fair to say this is the most optimistic I have been for a number of seasons and also fair to say there is plenty to be optimistic about.
  2. Such pessimism, no doubt reasonable in view of past events !! However, this is the "new" Saints where most if not all is what it seems ! Who next I wonder, Craddock would be a good signing but there are plenty of good players available and I think it is fair to say we are in a better position than most League 1 teams to attract new players. Bah, who needs Bosman signings

Yes ! I've not been online since mid day so was hoping to see this signing done and dusted and for once it did not run and run, it's even on the OS so must be true . Clearly very intelligent as well chosing us over Boro ! Oh and given the No 7 shirt as well !
  4. Well who knows! FF said he WAS ready to play in the 4th test but Strauss and Flower decided otherwise. Suggests he may well play in the final test as it really is all or nothing now.
  5. Both Bopara and Cook have been allowed to play this week for their counties as I think may be the case with a few others such as Collingwood. However, since Essex are playing Middx in a Div 2 game I don''t that is going to count for much. Ramprakash is certainly in contention to play.

I'm sure you'd welcome any signing as long as their surname isn't Cook TBH

    My thoughts exactly !
  8. Of that I am of course only too aware but I might try and select my team at 10.59am !
  9. Well an appropriate song to say good riddance, sorry I meant good bye
  10. No need to wonder, it is 105 at an average of 15 ! Stunning
  11. Should have stuck with Johnson !

  14. Saintly !?
  15. Can't really blame Tremlett for being injury prone, that's just the way it is with some players and if we are frustrated then you can only imagine what Chris ( and his Dad Tim) must feel. Both nice guys so I'm not going to rub salt into their wounds.
  16. I'm not aware that education has ever been an easy meal ticket beyond the age of 16. I was lucky in my time that pt/summer jobs were easy to come by especially with BAT which of course is no longer an option. Even then I had to decide whether to go to somewhere like one of the London Unis or do what I did and study instead at Portsmouth Poly but continue to live at home. The travelling was a pain by the incredibly slow BR line to Portsmouth but it was worth it for me as I was able to see every Saints home game plus quite a few away games as well as watch Hants play at both the County Ground and Portsmouth. Oh, in those days Student Loans were not yet an option, the grant system which was operating meant even my parents would have had to fork out to supplement my grant had I lived away from home and I would consider them to have been amongst the lower paid families. So easy it wasn't but I had the luck to have supportive parents and the "luxury" of finding casual work with no problems which I'm sure is something many students don't have. Oh and if anyone is lucky enough to get paid £9+ per hour then you really are blessed since £5-6 is the norm, and I state that as something I know for a fact and not just a figure plucked out of thin air.
  17. Lol, in other words you are one of the few posters who does not have a mental problem. Great logic which is clearly the product of a deluded mind. There are NO reasonable questions which need to be addressed, everything that needs to be said about Pinnacle and those involved has been debated ad nauseum but clearly you want to keep raking it over for your own purposes though aside from what I said before as to it being pure attention seeking I could not even begin to understand how your mind works. I'm almost reluctant to laugh since it's not generally considered polite to mock the afflicted.
  18. Nice to see Poole win the Elite pairs final, excellent final race which saw Poole beat Eastbourne 5-4 by finishing 2nd and 3rd with the scoring being 4, 3, 2, 0. Excellent team riding with Hans Anderson riding exceptionally well to ensure Poole reached the final even though Chris Holder was a bit out of form but then in the final Holder not only holding on to 2nd place but rather than trying for the win which would still not have been enough managing to slow the pace down in order for Anderson to take the crucial 3rd place. Great stuff !
  19. Yes, I was aware Cork was rested though was not 100% sure about Lumb. It was pretty clear Tremlett was injured otherwise there seemed no point leaving him out but I reckon on that pitch even a 5 day game would most likely have been drawn !
  20. As I invariably do I predicted a Saints win but a draw was no suprise at all given the upheaval we have been through. I thought a draw was a fair result even if it was a rather dubious penalty and then corner that led to their goal. That's how it goes sometimes and though I was annoyed at the time realistically refs and linesmen can only give it as they see it and on the whole I thought the ref did a good job in lettting the game flow. Clearly we need a few new players but I'd rather sign some players who will definitely improve the squad than a few players signed in a rush who might not. For me it is just nice to have a team to support with an excellent owner, director and manager and of course a very good stadium. We will definitely improve, of that I'm sure and not only with a few good signings ( as AP said we need striking options) but with an increased level of fitness. I am in NO doubt Pardew will address these issues sooner rather than later and whilst I still believe promotion these season will be very tough something tells me that we'll not be far away and certainly a million times better off come the end of this season than we were the end of last season. Maybe it's an advantage having supported the Saints over a period of 40+ years as it tends to make patience a virtue you have in abundance !!
  21. That is a fact ! 136 * off 229 balls clearly indicates a player in form. Unfortunately I don't think the weather is helping our trump card Tahir and if you remove Tremlett and Cork the bowling is not that penetrative. Griffiths did bowl pretty well but really we need Tremlett and Cork back and a pitch which helps spinners in our remaining games.
  22. Ultimately now MLT and Pinnacle are history. I think it's a racing certainty that we will never know the full story and Matt's part in all this. However, I know I'm not alone by any means in saying Matt will always be welcome at the Club, will always get a great reception and this saga has not changed my view one iota of Matt either as a player, a person or an ardent supporter of this club. Better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all. Fortunately I'm sure Le Tiss himself knows how much he is appreciated and Marcus Liebherr is not only very astute but also a very down to earth person who I'm sure would have appreciated the applause as much as any of us. It's actually both amusing but pathetic to state: " A couple of points re the above post in an attempt to bury the stories once and for all." when the poster really means he wants to perpetuate the stories. What a hypocrite !
  23. You are so predictable, pretty much every post you make is denigrating something or someone. Worse it's invariably not so much an opinion as attention seeking, did you have a deprived childhood ? I'm sure even Marcus Liebherr, Nicloa Cortese and Gary Oldknow would disagree with the statement "To cheer MLT in a such way was as much to recognise him as a playing legend but equally a misguided kick in the teeth to Liebherr, Cortese and Oldknow ". Absolute nonsense to put it politely.
  24. Now on 130* out of 205/3. Certainly in great form.
