  1. Not at all , it's a statistically accurate way of looking at it . "Just the facts mam" as they may well have said on 'Dragnet' many , many years ago .
  2. Why take a snapshot when the full picture is available : Played - 12 Won - 3 Drawn - 6 Lost - 3 Goal Difference - (+) 2 Points - 15 (1.25 per game average) 1.25 points per game puts us on course to end up with 48 points this season taking the 10 point deduction into account - which is still (there or there abouts) relegation form . It goes without saying that if we can maintain the good form we have showed this week then that's a concern that need not worry us for very much longer .
  3. Yes Jaidi is exactly the big strong defender we've have obviously needed for some time - the real credit however for players of this class joining must be given to Markus Liebherr . We are getting good CCC level players to come here because we are probably paying them CCC type wages , that frankly has more to do with the depth of ML pockets rather than any inspired player selection from the manager .
  4. Let's not rewrite the record just yet shell we ? Very few (if any) demanded Pardew's instant dismissal , quite a few of us called for a rapid improvement in the teams results . As long as AP sustains the dramatic form reversal we've seen this last week (or even just a reasonable standard) then everyone will be happy , although I consider the play-offs to be out of reach at this time .
  5. We're at the very least 2 more likely 4 or more seasons away from a possible return to the EPL (if at all I must stress) so to ask a young player who may well be in the process of reaching that standard already to wait until he's 25/26 before achieving that full potential is too much to ask in my opinion . Like a loving parent blessed with a gifted child sometimes you just have to let them 'fly' away and fulfill their destiny however much you yearn to keep them close . The harsh facts of football life are that you can't hold them back in the modern game anyway , even if you were selfish enough to try .
  6. Better bring him on for the last 007 minutes , although I always favoured Roger Moore .
  7. Have your collies fitted with gyroscopes - only £5 a pair on fleabay .
  8. Just look at the state of that lads socks - sack him
  9. I think I can speak for the whole forum when I say that's a tad too much information there .
  10. We've certainly 'opened up' of late , a number of factors I guess including Papa's arrival and Lallana's form combining to make us a real threat to anyone in this division at the moment - long may it continue I hear you say .
  11. Great fun - if you're not aboard the plane . This is why I always take the bus : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4Dm8xu0tP4
  12. Good choice and isn't it great to see some real competition for this award now . If Adam Lallana can maintain this rate of progress from being a naturally gifted but no terribly effective player into maybe the best young prospect in this division then it won't just be Player of the Month awards he'll be receiving soon - but serious interest from EPL clubs .
  13. Well Glasgow Saint has provoked quite a reaction hasn't he ! - let me put this theoretical question to his many critics on here : Should we find ourselves at or near the bottom of the table on Boxing day would you consider that to be at all acceptable ? I hasten to add that I have hopes that we should do rather better than that given the strength of the squad and the experience of our manager but the possibility is not entirely out of the question .
  14. I too have never lost it - but only because I never had it in the first place .
  15. TalkSport I find both annoying and entertaining in equal measure , the station has been immeasurably improved however by the absence of that traitorous creep George Galloway from the air waves - some people really are 'beyond the pale' .
  16. One telling quality I noticed about Nigel Pearson (and very possibly the secret of his success) was that he possesses outstanding man management skills , as soon as the final whistle blew he'd be on the pitch with his arm around the shoulders of his players 'bigging them up' as they say . You could almost see the confidence of our younger players grow in front of you , no Masters Degree in Body Language was required to know exactly what they were thinking "the manager believes in me I can do this , I want to play for him" - whatever job you do don't we all perform better under that type of leadership ? There must be a underlying reason why Simon Gillett for instance flourished for us under Pearson (and even his Dutch successors) and has struggled so badly under Pardew , dare I suggest it may be that Alan Pardew is not quite as effective in getting the most out of less experienced players compared to some other managers ? All just my speculation of course .
  17. I wonder if the takeover had gone through earlier if Surman might have stayed ? If you consider the sole purpose of a football career to be the accumulation of large balances in your bank account then the question may seem ridiculous , but at a deeper level any decent player 'worth his salt' should want to spend the best years of his career playing regularly I'd have thought - to be brutally honest Andrew Surman may not be quite special enough to feature regularly in the EPL it would seem . The fate of Surman bares a eerie similarity to that of his erstwhile teammate Chris Baird in that a 'dream' move to the Prem doesn't always work out - a lesson Adam Lallana seems to have heeded . This problem may be self correcting as it looks like Wolves have become a yo-yo club (they're so bad they managed to lose to PFC !) so AS may well get a proper chance to show them what he can do in the CCC next season . I wish him well .
  18. Players of Connolly , Lambert and Jaidi's standing just don't come cheap (in terms of wages anyway) so well done to Markus Liebherr for putting your hands into those oh so deep pockets yet again . I strongly suspect we have one of the best and most expensive squads in this division now so the pressure's on Alan Pardew to make the most of it . Gospel of St Luke
  19. You don't detect an implicit (agenda driven) criticism of Pearson in the OP ? As others have so elegantly pointed out a statistical comparison between NP and AP is invalid as the context of their respective Saints careers are very different . What should not be in serious debate is that Pearson (at the very least) is a good CCC/L1 manager , it seems to me that this was quite clear while he was with us and his subsequent record with Leicester proves the point .
  20. Tiresome . Anyone with functioning brain processes can see that Nigel Pearson was/is a bloody good manager , I don't know what more he has to do to prove the point . A more interesting question would be : Why do so many on here seek to maintain long discredited points of view in the face of overwhelming evidence that they were wrong ? Ego problems I guess .
  21. Many on here seem to dislike this lad although he's never done us any real harm (or good) as far as I'm aware . I suspect we don't mind seeing gifted players earn a good living out of the game but seeing a not especially talented individual such as this young man make a living out of it irks somewhat - or perhaps are we secretly thinking that we could do that ? Jealousy is a terrible thing you know .
  22. You should have reported him to a steward - there's no place for that kind of behavior in the modern game .
  23. If Paul Wotton is the answer than it must be a very peculiar question - Which Saints player would make an excellent door stop ? for instance . I've never seen this player give less than his best for this club , and you can ask no more from anybody . The trouble is his best just doesn't amount to very much these days . A squad player at best IMO . Of course I could be completely wrong and he might even score a last minute winner tonight !
  24. It can't be any worse than this Range Rover .
  25. I find Ali Dia's appearance only moderately amusing , Souness's scouse 'tash on the other hand is pure comedy gold .
