And the nominations are : M Paterson - Will almost certainly feature regularly this season , I think he could be as good if not better than DMG . Time will tell . A Lallana - Last season was a major disappointment but the talent's there for sure and he could be a force in L1 this season . J Mills - My tip to be the best of our youngsters if he can cope with the physical demands of this league . K Davis - Player of the season last time out and no one would be at all surprised if he repeated that this season . W Thomas - If he could stay fit (that's a big 'if') he looks perfect for this league . S Gillett - Only modestly talented but a smashing little player with a great attitude - a future fans favorite if ever I saw one .

Saints miss out on Jaidi signing
CHAPEL END CHARLIE replied to Bartosz Bialkowski's topic in The Saints
A brief guide to football work permits : http://www.fmformation.net/fm06-technical-guides/4436-work-permits-real-life-rules.html It's all to do with the players current national team status apparently . -
As Jaidi was only linked with SFC two days ago calling that a 'saga' may be somewhat overstating the case .
-
+1 Pompey bashing is as 'Saints related' as it gets and this should be reinstated on the main board I'd say .
-
He sure is - they'll be singing in the pie shops of southern Hampshire tonight .

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2009/08/05/pompey-whines-115875-21572069/ Schadenfreude is a terrible thing you know

I feel after a difficult period when we found ourselves at a lowe ebb we're now ready for the challenge of Premier foruming - The EPL Forum Confederation will expect however at least one mod to wake up before 11am to stop the early morning crew getting away with murder .
-
No sh1te Sherlock - sorry couldn't resist it .
-
Just having fun imagining what I'd have said to Rupert had he tried that on me

Back to the Premier League http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4526967.Cortese__Saints_will_be_back_in_the_Premier_League/ Talk is cheap but this guy's saying all the right things .

You're suggesting Cortese is De Facto owner of the club having borrowed Markus Leibheer's money to buy it ? - interesting hypothesis but a more simple explanation (Ockham's Razor) is that the ownership arrangements are as stated - NC running the club on ML's behalf .
-
Let's wait and see how he does but on the face of it NC looks like a top quality appointment , although bankers do have a somewhat tarnished reputation these days . With Markus Liebherr probably taking a limited interest in the day to day running of the club , Mr Cortese is in effect one of the most powerful men in this club's long history - a personal friend of the owner (of whom I guess we won't see much of) and with no shareholders to answer to makes him 'Mr Saints' from now on . I heard somewhere recently that the average football club has the turnover of your local supermarket - they're not really big business in the big scheme of things so for NC to give up a lucrative position in a major bank to run little old SFC may mean ML has had to bung a lorry load of cash in his direction as compensation .

An exceptionally cold , mean-spirited take on a decent man who's always done his best for this club irrespective of any mistakes made along the way .

Does anyone here go to games on their own
CHAPEL END CHARLIE replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Most of the time . I do my best to drag others along but ever since we were relegation from the Prem there seems to be an inexplicable reluctance to share in the collective misery we've endured - I just can't understand it . -
Sold over 10,000 and still rising
CHAPEL END CHARLIE replied to Smirking_Saint's topic in The Saints
I was going to say "yeah but Norwich ST's are cheap" - but checking it out they're certainly not : http://www.canaries.co.uk/page/SeasonTickets/ Up to £617 for a centre stand renewal ! - yikes  -
This is a marriage made in heaven isn't it - player who doesn't really want to be here stays at club who'd rather have somebody else !
-
Alan Pardew is not overly impressed with the way Stern John has conducted this matter apparently . http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4524044.Stern_words_from_manager_as_striker_leaves/ Can't say I blame him .
-
To be fair I think/hope the majority on here are actually aware of the squads all too obvious weaknesses , most however aren't expecting years of neglect to have been completely corrected in two weeks . As for your suggestion Sir that my brain has gone soft I can only reply that you are perfectly correct
-
The fact that someone in authority at the club considered signing Molyneux a wise or necessary move when we already had a more talented player in Mills (both are at a similar stage in their careers) shows just how utterly clueless the management of the club was at the time . It takes no great insight to see that 'Fish' Mills has a bright future in the game , any average fan with a pair of eyes in their head could see it to be perfectly frank - unfortunately footballing common sense was in somewhat short supply in these here parts last season .
-
I preferred your former comedy persona OBS - this scandalous bid to usurp Alpine Saints position as Saintsweb's resident Cassandra will lead to no good I tells ya .
-
+1 with knobs on .
-
More than happy to join in the warm welcome this signing has generated - an excellent young player (looking to be the best recent 'graduate' of our academy) with the potential to go far in the game I'd say .

Are Saga and Rasiak definately leaving?
CHAPEL END CHARLIE replied to unionhotel's topic in The Saints
Also on the BBC but with Saganowski thrown into the mix as well : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swansea_city/8177165.stm -
How many players do you think we will sign tomorrow?
CHAPEL END CHARLIE replied to Ashley Grute's topic in The Saints
Ah but Murty's worth 5 men - in terms of weight if nothing else .
