  1. This is getting more and more like Pinnacle by the day. I can see this dragging on until a few days before the payment being due and then Fahim will do a bunk.... Not very pretty I tell thee...
  2. Can someone explain to me why Pinnacle and their failed bid is in any way relevant now ?
  3. If we go into any league match with Lancashire in the team, we will lose. A positive way to look at this is that if not playing today means that Thomas is fit for Millwall then I'm ok with that. Can't blame him for not being fit last season, his cruciate went FFS...
  4. Murty as first choice, Ifil as back up. james to compete for a place in centre of midfeild. Simples.

    Ryan Smith

Would rather have kept Smith than Holmes to be honest. At least Smith has the potential to be a proper winger in that he will take people on and has the skill and the pace. Wotte got that bit right.... what he got wrong was playing him on the right wing when he was totally left footed. Also had no upper body strength so got bullied out of everything.

Dear PompeyInBreeding Why do you think you'll finish above the relegation zone ?
  7. Averages only tell you part of the story. Bell never scores heavily when it's needed. If we're 300-1 when he comes in then he's the man but if we're 45-4 and he has some responsibility then he wilts. He got in the Test side in 2005 for a series against Bangladesh, before they became anything like a useful side and he scored heavily which kept him in for the Ashes where he sucked - his average was still over 40 though because of the Bangladesh series. People talk of him being in form over a season but it's world of difference batting in early May, to batting in late July. Bopara was in great form in May and he's not now, same as Bell. Averages only tell part of the story. Carberry for example has scored 500ish runs in his last 3 matches - who would you say was the in form batsman ?
  8. This is the kind of thread that makes me want to pack up reading this site...
  9. Bell has no backbone and can't be relied upon. Having him and Bopara is a big risk. Also, his average was 80 which was before he got 0 and 7 v Hampshire in his last match when Michael Carberry scored 200 odd. You want to go with the 'in form' batsman argument, i suggest you look at Carbs, especially as he either opens or bats at 3. Bowling - I reckon Harmy wil come in for Onions and he'll either be brilliant or a waste of space. I'd love to see Harmy and Flintoff opening the bowling against Hughes.
  10. It's all a load of b0llock5, played out on Sky like it was some big story that the whole world was interested in. Couldn't give a flying one to tbe honet and I don't reckon there was ever more than a 1% chance he would leave. The sooner Sky goes bust the better.
  11. As it stands, I will be genuinely surprised if they sign anyone for over 6 quid.

I quite like the MilanMadness guy. He's realistic and can see the wood for the trees. Then the rest of the inbreds give him a slagging on another thread because he isn't burying his head in the sand.
  13. It's a myth that managers destroy the finances of any club. they're not the ones ultimately signing the cheques. In Pompey's case the villains are Storrie and Gaydemak
  14. If he tackles like that in the Prem they'll be lucky to get 10 games out of him with the pansy refereeeing. I think he looks ****ing great however.
  15. Rest in Peace. We'll never forget.
  16. Best side from what we have I think, assuming Saga is offski. Would like to see a new striker to play with John, a new LM (not Holmes - waste of space) and two new CM's before season starts.
  17. Amir Khan will be in with a shout as will David Haye if he beats that 7ft monster

  19. Question... has the £30million been paid back to the South African bank yet ? Until it has, I won't believe a ****ing word coming out of Fratton Park and the takeover. It all looks like smoke and mirrors delaying tactics to me at the moment, while Dr Al Fialka desperately tries to get some money together from people who actually have the necessary...
  20. The crunch is when the SA bank asks for its £30m back at the end of the month. I assume Dr Who will then have to cough up and he either will, or they're in admin and Dr Who is exposed as the complete Fialka that he appears to be.
  21. Munto have made their first error in appointing that complete charlatan Sven who I doubt will acheive anything of note. He's a complete fraud who has done **** all since before he got the England job.
  22. Bayern Munich allegedly want £50m for Franck Ribery... who plays wide right ish attacking central midfield. D'you think he's better than Matt at his peak.. cos I don't.
  23. I suspect that this is a policy that is in place at all of Liebherr's companies whereby no one gets a discount or a freebie. I doubt it's anything to do with SFC as a rule though it's being spun that way by the Echo.
  24. Playing 1 up only works if.... a) You have a player who is quick and good in the air and can also occupy two centre backs. b) you have decent wingers c) you have at least one dynamic central midfield player who makes runs forward and joins in Kenwyne Jones and Beatts could reasonably satisfy criteria a). None of the current forwards can. To be fair, there are very few of these players about. We haven't had a decent winger for years. We haven't had a decent attacking central midfielder for years. In short, Rasiak up fron on his own will never ever work.

We haven't got a decent winger at the club. We haven't got a centre forward who can play up on his own. These, I would say, are facts. 3 new players needed at least.
