I hope we never get technology in football. Part of what makes the game great is having controversial talking points. England may not have won the world cup in '66 if we had goal line technology. Who knows? We may have gone on to win it if we had it in South Africa last year (admittedly, highly unlikely). But its controversy like that which makes the game interesting, and in the long run those sort of close decisions generally balance themselves out anyway...

To be fair, tennis players are in competitive action more than the vast majority of other sportsmen, especially during grand slams. Could you imagine the reaction footballers would have if they were made to play a 3 (or more) hour match every couple of days for 2 weeks? Before the lead up to the world up in South Africa players were complaining they only had a week or 2 holiday before they were back in training again. Saints match with Birmingham had to be delayed by a day last week because it wasn't fair that some of the Brum players had to play twice in 2 days, bless 'em. Fatigue can play a big part in sport, especially when there's a lot of travelling involved between tournaments. I'm not saying tennis players should strike or complain, but people shouldn't criticise them so much if they're not always at the very top of their game. Andy Murray is an incredibly fit athlete (whatever your opinions are of the guy), yet clearly finds it difficult to keep up with the schedule sometimes. Surely, that shows a fairly fundamental problem with the scheduling?

They have an excuse though - a lot of their fans now watch Man City instead.

Read today that David Beckham's contract with LA Galaxy ends in November and that he might be interested in a move back to England, with QPR interested in him. But I think we could swoop in and try and convince him to move to the south coast. Afterall, we've already lost Puncheon to QPR, it would be bad if we missed out on Beckham to them too! Now, I know I lot of people on here will shoot me down and call me ridiculous, but I still think HCDAJFU and would give his all every time he pulls the shirt on. His wages would probably be pretty high, but I reckon NC would be good at negotiating with him and get him to buy into his vision of the future of the club....and he would be a great role model for some of our younger players. He strikes me as the kind of player that genuinely cares more about football than money these days, so I think it would definately be worth a punt, although it might be difficult to see where he would fit in with our current midfield. And just think of the money we'd make on shirt sales....!!!! What do you think? COYR!
