It's fairly standard practice in mergers and acquisitions that management teams are contracted to stay in place, normally for a minimum period and then all parties are free to make changes.....

One of the criticisms levelled at him at Stoke was playing people out of position! We can be fairly sure he will have had his eye on us for a while and no doubt be pretty familiar with the players so will be very interesting to see what changes he makes. He’ll be hitting the ground running which is what we most definitely need.

That’s about the rub of it. Like most managers he has a mixed history of success and failure but he gives us a chance and that is all we can ask for at this point. He’ll certainly be putting a few rockets up backsides you would think.

Hughes was sacked at QPR when they were bottom of the Prem.

He would have been relegated with both QPR and Stoke had he not been fired beforehand.

It will be interesting to see the line-up for this game. If it is indeed Hughes, or anyone else for that matter, you can be sure they've been keeping a keen eye on the squad in recent months.

Appointing Hughes would be akin to waiting for Christmas Day to finally arrive and then finding a walnut and a lump of coal in your Christmas stocking. Still, beggars can't be choosers.

He certainly wouldn't be my choice........unless he somehow kept us up.

I think whoever it is will get offered a short-term contract with a huge financial incentive bonus to stay up. In which case any unemployed manager is a candidate on that basis.

Les said in the past we have a long list of candidate managers so I'm sure he has it in hand.
