Best & Worst pubs of 10/11 season?
saints_is_the_south replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in Saints Away Supporters
F*ck t, typo in the thread title, should say and obviously! -
Any particularly good/bad experiences of pubs on the road last season? An unusually low amount of away games for me last season, but from my experience the worst I'd have to say would be the Antigallican in Charlton. It was raved about by many on here, we got there and it was rammed, took about 30 minutes or more to get served and the old bill wouldn't let us outside with our drinks which made the whole experience even worse as due to the number of people inside the pub it was unbearably hot, me & my group downed our pints and left otherwise I think we were all going to faint! Next time we play Charlton I reckon we'll just stay at London Bridge for a bit longer - where there many excellent pubs, we used the Barrowboy & Banker this time, just before the bridge. Bit expensive but a nice place and Peroni on tap. The Berckbeck Tavern at Leyton Orient was great once again although a bit busier than last season due to the better weather and more people having discovered it. Reasonable prices, decent beer, nice rolls, friendly staff and a lovely garden out the back.

Carling Cup vs Torquay ticket news
saints_is_the_south replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Be lucky to get 5k I reckon. Would probably have gone but not at £14 - which if you can't make it to SMS before match day rises to £16 on the day or £17 if you book in advance or over the phone! Hmmmm, no ta. -
Train Fare Tips & Advice
saints_is_the_south replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in Saints Away Supporters
Only way of getting to London in time for the 7.03 train to Doncaster is a 4am national express coach from Southampton it would seem! Fook that, bingo bus for Barnsley with our big bottles of "7up" and use the saved cash for Ipswich. Train tickets just booked for that, £38 return with 2 travelling, bigger discounts if larger groups I expect. Advance fares so get em now before they start creeping up! -
Southampton vs Leeds - August 6th Now at 5:20pm

Indeed, and the "sky curse" actually just coincided with us being crap anyway so no big deal really. Don't think we've done too bad on TV recently as my memory recalls, beat Sheff Wed 2-0 last season, won 3 JPT games on Sky this season before that. -

Which website did you use to book? The best I get from London St Pancreas to Barnsley is £32 return. -
So with the fixtures now released, I thought this thread would be a good idea where we can help each other with tips and advice on where the cheapest rail fares can be found. So first up will be Barnsley on Saturday 13 August. By searching for a simple return from Southampton Central on nationalrail.co.uk the best I have managed to do is £48.00 as an advance fare with 4 travelling. Going to see if this can be made cheaper by buying single tickets, will post them on here if I do. And likewise if anybody else finds anything cheaper, posting it here would be greatly appreciated!

Championship fixtures released - Leeds at home first
saints_is_the_south replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
Not if coming from Southampton Central, it's a direct train. Talking of Brighton, at least we should finally have a decent ticket allocation meaning more than about 800 of us can go! -
+1. Travelling over from the waterside via bus every day so hope the weather stays dry or I'll be mightily f*cked off!
-
England with a lead of 129, just under an hours play left today. Wonder what sort of lead Strauss will declare on (assuming SL don't bowl us out ofcourse).
-
Wrong, if an away side were to take a full allocation for a league game they would have Blocks 43 to 48, which is approx 3,200 (10% of capacity). For Cup games they can be given Block 42 (or part of) which takes it up to the 15% of capacity allowed for away fans for cup games.

And breath!
-
Kilbane also escaped a 2nd yellow in the 2nd half.
-
Definate red card, but Hudders should have been down to 10 men long before that too.
-
3 goals in 9 minutes!
-
Bompey been the better team but Huddersfield are clinical, 1 chance 1 goal. Good save on the pen from Bennett. Nearly 2-0 then...

Hopefully the skates away game will be late in the season, thus allowing plenty of time to rack up loads of away games as tickets will no doubt be sold by a ballot system.

+1. Really enjoyed League 1 tbh, winning most weeks, some awesome awesome away days. I know when the FA or Carling Cup draws are being done next season I'll be hoping for somebody like Leyton Orient or Plymouth away.
-
West Ham for a London away day Blackpool for a weekend away Not fussed about the other.
-
Some great away days. No international breaks. Winning most weeks.
-
As I just posted on another thread, there is the potential for next season's NPC to be quite a southern league with a fair few close away days. Confirmed so far: Brighton Bristol City Crystal Palace Millwall Skates Watford Plus maybes: West Ham Reading Bompey Some cracking days out there to be had!

Who would you like to win the Play-Offs? (League 1)
saints_is_the_south replied to Nexstar's topic in The Saints
Huddersfield deserve it but Bompey for me also for the same reason as above. Could be quite a Southern league if things turn out well, West Ham coming down, Reading stay down and Bompey come up, loads of close away days.
