Bristol City have the worst home record in the division. Understand they've picked up a lot recently, but this is a game we really must be winning. I think they'll huff & puff a lot and make it very difficult for us, but our quality will shine through in the end. If we can keep Maynard quiet, then we should be alright.

Lukas Jutkiewicz.... is he worth signing?
saints_is_the_south replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Would much rather we waited and went for Maynard in January. -
Looks like there is a small foot bridge over the river/canal quite close to the pub, which bing or google maps doesn't take ito account if you try walking directions. From the otherside of that footbridge it's about 15 minute walk according to google.

Not worse, but Walton's decision to dissalow Jaidi's goal against Leeds in 09/10 season when the Leeds player had Fonte in a headlock.

Le Tissier,Beattie and Lambert as penalty takers

And Rasiak too I believe. -
The footballgroundguide website says the Hen & Chicken should be given a "wide berth". The Cottage Inn at Baltic Wharf looks a like a good boozer, we're gunna head there. http://www.cottage.butcombe.com/ I think this will be a really tough game, despite their position in the league table they've really picked up under their new manager, unbeaten under him I believe. Going with a tight 2-1 win for Saints.

Lambert & Lallana are both shown a couple of times training in the interview video on Saints Player, Lambert in particular is shown crossing the ball into the box for who I think was actually Lallana (not 100% sure) to get a header in on goal. Perhaps Nige is playing mind games and the two players he is actually referring to is Jaidi and Seaborne, but trying to lull Brighton into a false sense of security thinking it may be one of our "big" players.

Boxing day always proves to be a popular one, the last one against Exeter in 09/10 we had 30,890 at SMS & the one before that, also against Palace in 06/07 the attendance was 30,548. Sure to be 30k+ again, top of the table or not.

Worked out that our group of 4 would have been to 6.75 away games on average each this season. That's without counting the TO's Barnsley f*ck up too. Should be more than safe for a ticket, so long as our numbers have been assigned for all of the other games! One thing I was wondering, will the Swindon and Palace games be taken into account or is it just league games they are basing it on?

Just been looking through Brighton's recent run of results on their OS, and read the match report for their last away game at Watford (lost 1-0). According to that they failed to muster a single shot on target, against arguably one of the worst sides in the division. 1 win out of the last 10 games doesn't make pretty reading. Not wanting to tempt fate at all, and knowing that Brighton will be really up for this game, if we play like we have done at home this season then we should go and win this comfortably. A similar game to the Middlesbrough one in store IMO, we were all expecting a very tight and tough game and we went and put 3 past them without reply. I'm going for 3-1 Saints.

With still 2 days of sales to go + Saturday's walk up, I think it's got a pretty good chance of selling out. My attendance guess is 31,785.

The ticket office are a real pain in the arse for getting your customer number assigned to your ticket. For Barnsley, despite clearly requesting that they do so, I later find out that they haven't. Since then I've had to really get on their cases to make sure they've done it.

Whilst Jos has been excellent for us, I'd be looking ahead and asking do we think he'd be good enough in the Prem?. I'd get his loan extended until the end of the season and then evaluate the situation then. -
Great read. Agree with everything other than the bit about the Fonte goal celebrations as has already been pointed out!

Yeah, best to be in the middle/front rows for this one. Footballgroundguide.com describes the view from the back rows as, "like watching the game through a letter box".

After Brizzle, Donny & the Skates our next away game will be Brighton on the 2nd January 2012. A while of yet I know, but with no group save on rail fares in mind for Bristol City, I'm wondering whether this is a new thing that will be implemented for other days when there is football. A group save 4 for 2 to Falmer currently works out £7.50 return each, £15 with no group save. Not quite as big a difference as it makes for Bristol but I'd rather keep the extra £7.50 for beer money if possible! Looking forward to finally having a bigger allocation for this one (2,575 according to the footballgroundguide.com site), and a 1st visit to their new ground. Sounds easier enough to get too even if it is 4 miles from the centre of Brighton itself, Falmer station is right by the stadium. Should be a cracker!
-
If any of you can get to Salisbury then it is £9.25 return from there with a group save. Going to get the mrs to drive us all there and pick us up in the evening.
-
Mine came today.

Pretty ****ed about there being no group save, checked a few weeks ago and it was available. Hope this is a one off and they don't start doing it for the London trips...etc
-
Maybe ring the TO and explain the situation and see if they can post the tickets to you recorded delivery? Heck you have to pay a £3 admin fee so you might aswell try and get your money's worth for it!

+1.

Well after all of the negative reports about Coventry as an away day on here prior to yesterday, have to say me & my mates had a cracking day. Got up there at about half 9, went to the Flying Standard in the city centre, probably the best spoons' breakfast I've ever had. Few beers there, moved onto the Longford Engine which was a nice little boozer, right by the canal. Add the game & a win on top of that and there being 3k Saints up there, great day all round really.

Championship away attendances
saints_is_the_south replied to stevegrant's topic in Saints Away Supporters
With 3,008 at Cov yesterday, that now takes our average for the season to 2,183. That includes Palace in the CC and guestimates for Swindon & Cardiff. -
Was looking for pubs close to the ground online, this place welcomes away fans and is about a 15 minute walk from the ground - http://www.longfordengine.com/ - Looks ok and right on the canal too.
