I caught 'Marvellous' on TV last night and it was excellent. True story about a guy with some learning difficulties. Was Stoke City's kit man for a couple of seasons. Has been running his own football team 'Neil Baldwin FC' at Keele Uni for the past 40 years. Heartwarming stuff. Worth catching on iPlayer if you get a chance

Really enjoyable night out. Emirates is a superb stadium. Saints fans in good voice. Just amazed how good we are and how quickly RK has generated team spirit. It was also a really good game. Arsenal moved the ball around well, but so did we. And we had the better chances. First time that I have seen Matt Targett and he looked very comfortable. Mane is very quick. Looking forward to the next round. RK is taking this seriously and using it as a way of building the team

Lukaku was poor last season playing for Everton, but the season before he was superb for West Brom. I seem to remember that he played down the right so that he was up against Danny Fox. Really not a fair contest and Fox ended up getting himself sent off for one of the latest tackles I remember. Agree with the comment about David James. He was superb playing for the Skates in the cup match in 2010.

Definitely think it's going to be a no. Hope that we can give them more devolution though as there is a majority who want devolution just not a majority who would go for independence.

Southampton buck the trend and are the biggest transfer window earners!
kwsaint replied to ozzmeister's topic in The Saints
In my view we have come out of the transfer window in a better place than we were going in, stronger squad, healthier bank balance. Agree with the comment that getting Koeman was the best bit of business done over the summer. Only concern is that a bigger squad may limit the chances of academy players coming through. We only have JWP as a regular team member from the academy now. Good to see Matt Targett get a chance in the LC. But Harry Reed's chances may now be more limited. Not sure who else is even close to getting in the frst team squad -
Tell me if I'm wrong, but I'm sensing dislike for West Ham...

What was that all about today? At least the relay provided some amusement with kids falling over, dropping the ball and missing the goal from 6 yards. They should either put on something worth watching or get rid of it altogether. And the numpty with the mike just gets worse. Any suggestions as to what they should do at half time? Bring back the Albion band? Your thoughts

Sadly no away day trip to Fulham this season. I sat in the 'neutrals' section at Craven Cottage last season and to be fair it did seem to work OK. You just accepted that the person sat next to you could be a Fulham supporter, a fellow Saint or a genuine neutral. Going to take a Sunderland supporting friend to the game at SMS in October, and he will sit quietly in the Chapel (insert your own jokes here). But sitting in a neutrals section would make it easier all round. So would a neutrals section at SMS work? Your thoughts

I've been in Uganda for the past month with no phone, news or internet. So my question is, what has happened? Was there the meltdown everyone expected or have we kept some of our players?

Where SHOULD we be aiming for this season?
kwsaint replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
It's going to be a bumpy start to the season, as all the new players settle in. We have had the core of the team ripped out, so we need to be patient. Also have a horrible run of fixtures from late November to early January. So my guess is somewhere around 11th to 14th after a slow start. Don't think that we will go down as there are teams that will be much weaker than us, even after all the transfers (Burnley, Hull, Villa, Palace, West Brom) -
Given that Chelsea signed him he can't be that bad. We have had an England international left back that united have just paid £27 million for. Whoever we get wont be as good. Give him a chance and see what the next 12 months bring. At least he is not coming to the end of his career Look on the bright side, he can't be any worse than Danny Fox

I would have Hoddle as manager of this team. Great coach but no clue about man management Players I have not liked tend to be those who came here at the tail end of their careers and clearly couldn't be bothered - Speedie, Dixon, Mark Hughes, Idiakez. So based on what you see on the pitch.

Apart from anything, we have a huge bank balance to bring in new signings. I think that we will survive comfortably in the end but be in the bottom half, and the early part of the season will be very bumpy. Can't see us making anything like as good a start as last season. And we will have another season with a very small squad

I'm ****ed off so I went to the bookies today and bet that Costa Rica would win the world cup. At 40/1 I thought why not. What's yours? Oh and if anyone says this isn't saints related, I'll bite you.

Looks like there will be two Saints players in the team tonight. So they join the select group who have played for England in the world cup finals. Paine (1966), Keegan (1982), Shilton (1986), Bridge (2002), Lallana, Shaw (2014) There have been others who have played in finals, but not while Saints players. Hopefully more in 2018

Other clubs views on whats happening at saints?
kwsaint replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Cup semi-final in 76. Second Saints goal was a Peach penalty after a foul on Channon. Some people have long memories. Wasn't a dive, but initial contact probably just outside the area, not that it matters -
When Rodriguez gets back from injury... Saw this on facebook

Who wants to say it's not saints related first then?

Yakin. Got to be.

Making an omelette and all that...

Going to Entebbe, Uganda; Kigali, Rwanda and Istanbul, Turkey in July. Not hoping for the best.
