  1. I agree that it shouldn't be used to fund India's space programme but surely this is just a mismanagement of where our foreign aid goes rather than the concept of it in the first place. So instead of cutting it, we should either say what we want it spent on or, even better, buy the resources we want it spent on (teaching, food, building constituents) and then we know exactly where it's going. If you were in an ebola-sufferers position, would you want a rich, wealthy country to not spend on making them better? Surely if we don't we're saying we are superior to them? Tbf Ex Lion Tamer I didn't. See this is the problem? There is no one party that stands for my views? I am strongly against an elected house of lords but am for a review of how peers get elected. I feel the best solution would be a house full of experts from every field (science, medicine, economics etc.) who can advise on whether what the government want to make law is a good solution or not?
  2. If it wasn't for Nick Clegg I'd vote lib dem in a heartbeat. The party is on the money as far as policies and the MPs are honest people. Tories have a horrendous attitude of "jobs for the boys" (I'm not just assuming this, I spoke to a Tory councillor who defected to Lib Dem). I completely disagree with Labours stance than a) there shouldn't be an English parliament and b) the house of lords should be elected. Both, imo, can't work. The West Lothian problem only really has one solution that all parties, apart from labour, can see. And UKIP are still a protest party for people who don't want to vote for the other three. The fact they want to cut foreign aid by 80% is obscene. So how do you choose?
  3. Was discussing this with my Dad last night. They don't really seem to buy any of our players unlike all the other 'big' teams. The last one I can think of was Graham Baker back in the 80s. Can anyone think of a more recent one?
  4. 2nd on MOTD tonight. They might just have noticed us
  5. Another Strachan quote, along the lines of 'I have a yoghurt in the fridge that expires today, so that's my priority at the moment rather than worrying about Delgado.' Delgado really was a waste of money
  6. well I suppose the question is can you blow photons up your arse? I would argue that if you positioned a mirror at such an angle behind your arse that you reflected the stream of photons up this particular orifice, then they are, in some sense, being blown up your arse. this, I imagine, is what the OP was thinking when he wrote the title of the thread. HTH.
  7. yeah I'm on a different continent....
  8. if she presented the half time relay I definitely wouldn't get a pint at half time...
  9. I tried reading it but I got distracted by the woman on the coral advert.
  10. MLT vs Wimbledon at Dellhurst
  11. Texaco cup match vs Rangers in the mid seventies. Rangers defender knocked the ball back to the keeper from a long way out and it went straight over his head

  15. Very good article. He had a good way with words that kept you engaged and, through own research and thinking, produced a piece better than half the **** the daily mail or savage comes up with.
  16. fair play mate. hindsight is a wonderful thing but most of us thought it wouldn't end like this
  17. I caught 'Marvellous' on TV last night and it was excellent. True story about a guy with some learning difficulties. Was Stoke City's kit man for a couple of seasons. Has been running his own football team 'Neil Baldwin FC' at Keele Uni for the past 40 years. Heartwarming stuff. Worth catching on iPlayer if you get a chance
  18. Really enjoyable night out. Emirates is a superb stadium. Saints fans in good voice. Just amazed how good we are and how quickly RK has generated team spirit. It was also a really good game. Arsenal moved the ball around well, but so did we. And we had the better chances. First time that I have seen Matt Targett and he looked very comfortable. Mane is very quick. Looking forward to the next round. RK is taking this seriously and using it as a way of building the team
  19. Lukaku was poor last season playing for Everton, but the season before he was superb for West Brom. I seem to remember that he played down the right so that he was up against Danny Fox. Really not a fair contest and Fox ended up getting himself sent off for one of the latest tackles I remember. Agree with the comment about David James. He was superb playing for the Skates in the cup match in 2010.
  20. Definitely think it's going to be a no. Hope that we can give them more devolution though as there is a majority who want devolution just not a majority who would go for independence.
  21. In my view we have come out of the transfer window in a better place than we were going in, stronger squad, healthier bank balance. Agree with the comment that getting Koeman was the best bit of business done over the summer. Only concern is that a bigger squad may limit the chances of academy players coming through. We only have JWP as a regular team member from the academy now. Good to see Matt Targett get a chance in the LC. But Harry Reed's chances may now be more limited. Not sure who else is even close to getting in the frst team squad
  22. Tell me if I'm wrong, but I'm sensing dislike for West Ham...
