  1. Its a bit of a gamble to be honest. It will only be worth it if we get to a cup semi-final or final. In which case Members will have priority over non-members. Otherwise it's not great value Had one in the Dell days. Used to fax in my ticket requests a couple of days before tickets went on sale. Worked every time. Those were the days
  2. I thought that I was watching the Leicester game again. Fortunately Bournemouth don't have a Jamie Vardy. Why do we drop off in the second half? The first half was men against boys. Don't think that Wanyama missing the Sunderland game is a big deal. He wasn't really in the game much after the booking. It felt like one of those cup games against lower league teams, when they huff and puff a bit but never really threaten. Forget the hype about this being a derby. The Spurs game last year had more feeling, let alone any of the recent games against Pompey. Todays game was just for fun.
  3. Yes. I was at that game. Channon equalised late on direct from a corner.
  4. The 6-1 last season was almost entirely down to Sherwood tactics. Pressing a high line with Mane and Long on the pitch. Mental.
  5. Stek has a back injury. Hope he is back next week. All of the starting outfield players have been on international duty this week. Mane was knackered by 60 mins. KD has been fantastic for us, but I really don't want to see him again. His distribution was terrible and has cost us 2 points. Must get backup in January Leicesters team spirit was excellent. Vardy is not the most gifted of players, but he just never gives up. 2-2 was just about right on the performance, even though it feels like a loss
  6. KD has been incredibly loyal to Saints, but I really hope today is his last ever game. The second half when Leicester came at us was just embarrassing. His distribution and inability to get distance on his kicks meant that the ball just kept coming back. Gazzaniga would have been better today. He doesn't stop anything but at least he has younger legs and can kick a ball further. We have to get cover in January. We only have one premier league level keeper, and he currently has a back injury. And is on loan to us. I cant see Forster playing much if at all this season.

    Van Dijk

I think that it is more about pairings, than about individuals. Lovren and Fonte were superb together, but Lovren has struggled at Liverpool. Klaus and Killer were excellent. Klaus and Jacobsen was just embarrassing. It's early days, but it looks like van Dijk and Fonte could be as good as Klaus and Killer. I am old enough to remember Jim Steele. My recollection was that on his day he was better than anyone - he certainly was in the Cup Final. But he wasn't always that consistent.
  8. According to one of my Italian work colleagues, Pelle was junior tango champion in Italy, and is into Latin-American dancing. Checked online and appears to be true. May end up seeing him on Strictly come Dancing one day. Strange but true.
  9. I look out for the results of teams that work colleagues support for the Monday morning post mortem. At present I am looking out for Arsenal, Celtic, Partick Thistle and QPR results. The Partick supporter is particularly glum at present.
  10. yeah i was there january to august this year. lived in a place called kisoro about 9.5 hours on a coach to kampala. for some reason, they played westlife-esque bands on the PA for the entire journey. i think entry was 20,000 shillings or about £4
  11. Do you ever go to the Worthies Sports and Social club?
  12. yeah same for me. lived there for 6 months. managed to see them play against the Gambia in a friendly which ended up 1 all. Apart from that, Cambridge United because of university.
  13. I can never get them to work for some reason. Might just be me mind.
  14. 1. Sell tickets for the half-time relay and have the football match as the pre/post relay entertainment. 2. Install Dyson Airblades in the toilet as per below: 3. Move the away fans to the middle of the chapel stand, remove the segregation and not tell anyone for one game just to see what would happen. 4. Shoot anyone who takes a selfie with a bolt action shotgun. 5. Build a museum about the history of the club (as per an early post).

  18. I wish this could happen to Costa:
  19. I remember when there were the three queens in Southampton maybe 11 years back? Was a sight for sore eyes
  20. Came in on a ferry from France late last night (wearing a Saints shirt). The spinnaker tower has become an icon for the city, and much as it pains me to say it, does look good. There has been lots of talk in the past of having a supersized spitfire in Mayflower park. Has this died a death? Anyone know?
  21. Disappointing as it is. I think that it will turn out to be a blessing in disguise to have missed out on the group stages and the additional 6 games (minimum) that it would have brought. We clearly have problems at the moment. Last year's replacements blended in really quickly to everyone's surprise. We lost four more over the summer (Clyne, Schneiderlin, Alderweireld and effectively Forster) and haven't coped anywhere nearly as well. Defensively we aren't good, no width, and last night seemed to be mainly Martina (no wing back) lumping it forward from the half way line. Tactically we were awful. SaintTex's post hit the nail on the head. I think that RK will turn it round, but anyone expecting a top half finish is going to be disappointed. It's going to be a long season. The only positive is that on paper, our squad is stronger than at least three others in the Prem.
  22. Odds on relegation: You could argue I've just picked the bookies which show it but all of them show the same trend. Seems we're not so sure now.

  24. Is clearly, clearly not good enough. Morale is down. Something is wrong. It's not wrist-slitting, it's pointing out the obvious.
